Anal Cancer Symptoms
Question: What are the symptoms of anal cancer?
Answer: "Symptoms
By Mayo Clinic staff
The anal canal
Anal cancer signs and symptoms include:
Bleeding from the anus or rectum
Pain in the area of the anus
A mass or growth in the anal canal
Anal itching
Some people with anal cancer don't experience any signs or symptoms.
When to see a doctor
The signs and symptoms of anal cancer aren't specific to this disease. Some people mistake their signs and symptoms for more common conditions, such as hemorrhoids, and don't see their doctors. Talk to your doctor about any signs and symptoms that bother you, especially if you have any factors that increase your risk of anal cancer. Treatment for anal cancer is more likely to succeed if cancer is found at an earlier stage.
Question: i have 2 possible symptoms of anal cancer but i dont bleed often from back but have severe itching . any help?
ive had for quite some time but only really bleed from back passage every so often and it doesnt hurt and isnt really alot but i always get severe itching and im just worried coz ive not payed any attention to it
Answer: OK first of all, please ignore the above poster who has told you to leave it for a few more weeks, you've already stated in your question that you have had this for quite some time.
In all likelihood, you most likely have piles, anal itching isn't a common sign of anal carcinoma but ALL instances of anal bleeding require evaluating to be on the safe side. Make an appointment to see your GP ASAP.
Edit:
Whats wrong with calling it piles? Or is it just as irritating as capitalising every word in a sentence?
Question: what's the difference in symptoms between anal fissure and anal cancer?
Answer: An anal fissure is a small split or tear in the anal mucosa(tissue around it) that may cause painful bowel movements and bleeding. There may be blood on the outside of the stool or on the toilet tissue following a bowel movement. This can happen by passing a large stool or having alot of diarrhea. This can be treated well and usually do heal.
website to help is http://www.umm.edu/ency/article/001130.htm
Anal cancer is when cancerous cells are present and are causing damage to that area, they need to be treated and killed, surgery may need to happen to give the bowel a rest or change the route of which stool is passed. It is alot more serious.
Please Speak to a doctor soon if you have concerns. treatment is available for everything these days and sometimes we worry ourselves for nothing. xx
Question: what are the symptoms of prostate or anal cancer,? Thanx 4 any answers
Answer: prostate wraps around urethra where pee comes out from ur bladder.
if u have cancer, prostate gets bigger, thus urethra gets smaller.
hence, difficulty starting stream of pee, dribbling, feeling of full bladder
even after u just "pee".
u get tested by doctor sticking finger up ur rectum
and palpating ur prostate.
as for anal cancer, difficulty pooping or blood in poop.
usually not discovered til late stage though.
Question: Can a person get anal cancer at 19? Just curious. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, and decided I'd ask.
I looked it up, and it said that some of the symptoms include anal itching, and bleeding from the anus. If a person who's 19 has itching in or around the anus, could that be a sign they have anal cancer, or nothing at all? It also said that people who are 50+ are more likely to get it. So, am I worried over nothing?
Answer: Itching alone is not a symptom of anal/rectal cancer. It does not often occur in young people, but the incidence is increasing primarily among homosexual men. When it occurs in young men in their 20-30s it is nearly always HPV positive.
Question: Signs or symptoms of anal/rectal/colon cancer....? If there are any gentleman out there that could help me please....My husband has been suffering with severe pain not only at anus but inside the pelvic region; extreme pain. He does bleed a lot when he has bowl movements.
He was told about a year ago that it was hemorriods. However, I'm not satisfied with this. I've never heard of hemorriods causing this much internal pain. He has had the colonostomy and doctor didn't find anything to be alarmed about..
If you're a guy and have suffered with or currently suffer with these symptoms, can you tell me what your diagnosis is? And if you were diagnosed with cancer, what were you begining signs..
thanks for your help!
Answer: He should see a gastroenterologist. It could be hemorriods but then it could be polyps, signs of a tumor, etc.
He needs to be evaluated by a physician that specializes in this area. If the physician finds it to be safe then your husband will likely have a colonoscopy with possible biopsy to lead to a proper diagnosis.
Question: What are the doctors called that deal with the anal or that area in general area? also....
Is there such a thing as anal cancer?
a close member of my family has been experiencing pains in the anal area and they are worried. im very scared for them and i dont want them to have cancer or anything....
are there any other diseases that deal with that area? if so what are the symptoms?
is there a website that has a list of diseases and their symptoms?
thank you guys so much.. God bless.
Answer: urologists or proctologists, probably polyps or crohn's desease.
Question: I know it's a long shot, but...signs of anal cancer? I'm only 22, and I'm probably just being over-cautious, but for a couple weeks now I've noticed this bump on the inner area of my anus and it hasn't gone away yet. It doesn't hurt and it doesn't interfere with my bowel movements or anything like that, and it's very unlikely that it's STD related, I don't have any symptoms or discomfort or anything, and I've definitely never had anal sex. It's cyst-like, could it possibly be anal cancer? Is it even possible to get that at my age? Should I get it checked out, or wait a bit for it to go away, or just not worry about it? confused and concerned!
Answer: Get a colonoscopy. They will see anything abnormal when they go up. It's a simple test or a sigmoidoscopy. See a Proctologist and put your mind at ease. Be blessed
Question: How'd Farrah Fawcett know she had cancer??? I'm paranoid!!? Okay so I saw something on Farrah on tv so i researched anal cancer...i remembered how i had these itchy red bumps near my vag a while ago, i think they were either bug bites or zits cuz they're not there anymore but i'm paranoid because i read one of the symptoms for anal cancer was lump near your anus and itchyness!!!
and for a while the left sideof my head hurt but now it doesnt, sometimes it hurts but not as much anymore
Answer: Itchiness is not a symptom of anal cancer and the tumor would be in your anus not near it.
Question: anal cancer or hemmoriods? i've had blood coming from my anus for just under a year when going to the bathroom. Sometimes it bleeds heavy and other times not at all so it is always different. i always have like a peice of skin that kinda hangs there and when i have a bowel it turns into a bump but goes right away. just recently im finding it hard to go to the bathroom even though i really need to go, when i do go i get hot flashes and nausous. I have a brusing like pressure feeling in the upper vaginal area, and a hard lump with a black dot on the end of it. I get abdominal pains regulary and sometimes its really painful. i've had a sudden loss of appetite, and when i eat i feel kinda nausous. the lump kinda wraps from the edge and inside me. it hurts to the touch and when i sit or walk.
Everyones telling me it sounds like hemmoriods but im scared it might be something else. i plan on going to the doctors soon but they cant get me in for another 2 weeks .. has anyone else heard or had these symptoms before? what do you think is going on?
Answer: I have seen and come across the symptoms explained by you and they all finally confirmed as Hemmoriods only.
What you have explained here sound like that you are having - Hemmoriods only. But as you can not take any chance and that too when you have a doubt, it is better to consult your doctor who will tell you exactly what it is.
You say you have this problem nearly for an year and another two weeks will not matter much. Let your doctor evaluate and tell. My best wishes for you.-
Question: Anal Fissures and haemorrhoid's? I've been diagnosed with having an anal fissure and have been given cream to treat it. However; I have now discovered that anal cancer shares the same symptoms of haemorrhoid's and anal fistulas etc and I'm worrying that I've been misdiagnosed. I've seen three doctors and they've all told me that I have a fissure that's been caused through passing large stools and being constipated. Anal fissures tend to run the family and my dad had an operation to cure his.
I don't have anal sex and I don't smoke. I don't have any lumps in that area either so I'm kind of thinking that it's nothing more than a fissure but I am getting freaked out.
Does anyone else out there with haemorrhoid's and fissures worry about getting anal cancer or is it just me going mad?
Answer: I think it's only natural to worry because, as you say, some of the symptoms are very similar. However, I'm presuming that the doctors you've seen have examined you, in which case, they would probably have been able to actually see the fissure. Unless you're having symptoms which could be attributed to cancer but not fissures (feeling ill, losing weight without trying, etc), then I would say it's probably fine. But if you're still worried, there's no harm in going back to the docs and asking them to do some more tests, just to put your mind at rest if nothing else.
Question: hemerrhoids/anal fissures/colon cancer/cronic bowel disease? Has anyone ever had a sharp stinging or burning sensation by your butt hole? I looked on web md and those are the things that came up for the symptoms. I dont know what to do, Im afraid to go to the hospital. Will it just go away by itself? Any doctors around here?
Answer: Don't go to the hospital. Make an appointment with a proctologist (butt doc). After I had my baby I had an anal fissure for a year and the proctologist helped me heal it.
Sitz baths.
Fiber pills.
Steroid Cream.
It took a year. But my fissure seems healed.
Question: Anal fissure? Colon cancer? This may be graphic - but I apologize in advance.
A month or so ago, I noticed that once or twice I had a drop or two of blood on my toilet paper when going #2. Gradually, there has been more blood off and on (although sometimes there is none). Once or twice there has been a lot, which scares me. Other times, it just appears as a few streaks on the surface of the stool and toilet paper. My other symptoms include a sharp pain in my bottom that lasts a few seconds during the stool passage and some pain/itch for about 20 minutes following it. I haven't had abdominal pains, haven't lost or gained weight, and haven't had any changes in my bowel habits. I drink a few times a month and don't smoke. I'm 22 years old. I also tend to not drink enough water/beverages. I'm pretty fit and not unusually tired or anything.
I went to the doctor recently but only ended up seeing a physician's assistant. Besides being extremely rude, she did like a 5-second digital exam and told me it wasn't hemorrhoids. She said I should get a referral to a GI doc and then get a colonoscopy.
My mom said she thinks it's an anal fissure, as she had one with the same symptoms several years ago. I'm going to make an appt. to see an actual doctor for a second opinion, but I was wondering if anyone with similar experinces might say. (I know it's not Crohn's, by the way).
Answer: It would be my guess that this could be an anal fissure or an internal hemorrhoid (above where she could reach). While you are waiting for your doctor's appointment, you could begin trying some Anusol which is intended to shrink hemorrhoids. Also, soaking in a hot bathtub daily will help. Changing your diet is your best bet in preventing this - increasing your daily water intake, and increasing your intake of fresh fruits and vegetable to keep your stools more soft. Keep your appointment with the GI doctor to get a diagnosis.
Question: If I have had...? [please help this is urgent!!!!]? I've had a round, M&M-sized PALPABLE lump in my butt crack (one inch down from the top) for about 1 and a half years, no other anal symptoms. It hurt a lot (hurt to sit on it and stuff) when it was first came, but now it's painless. It's not like rock hard but it's not soft either, kinda feels like cartilage? It's slightly on the left (not EXACTLYon the middle of my butt crack). Is there any way it could be anal cancer??? no other symptoms!! or could it just be a cyst? or what? when i got it i was sitting a LOT on that area of my tailbone on hard surfaces and stuff, could it be "trauma"-related? please help!! thanks
Answer: It's a hemorrhoid. You have to go to the doctor to get it removed. I don't think it can hurt you other than when you sit down it's sore. My mom gets them occasionally and I have to take her to the doctor. I've never had one.
Question: Cancer/Panic attack question? First of all im an 18 year old male, slightly overweight and i don't smoke. About a month ago i started feeling weak and without urge to move after i had mowed the lawn. It started to worry me and i had a panic attack. Since then i have been on edge. 2 weeks ago i found an anal lump, and have noticed other symptoms of colon cancer such as thin stools and i feel like i have to go when i dont actually have to. A week after that(one week ago) i felt very anxious for a few days and then it all built up into a panic attack. Afterwards i had aftershock effects in which i kept having very small and stretched out panic attacks for days(I still have them now). I know panic attacks are safe but now im really worried that maybe these panic attacks are symptoms of cancer. However i really hope its the other way around and my cancer symptoms are just a result of my anxiety(all except the lump anyway). Anyone have any ideas? Even if i don't have cancer, i really don't want to have this intense anxiety for the rest of my life. I feel as though i might have Post Traumatic stress disorder or something.
Answer: The lump you feel may be a hemorrhoid, a boil or even an ingrown hair. You are likely having panic attacks associated with the fear of having cancer. If you go see your Dr. and get a dx on the lump, then I feel your panic attacks will disappear. But while at the Dr. getting the lump checked, you can ask him about panic attacks as well.
Question: I posted this question just before and I asked why the colonoscopy did not pick my my cancer of the anus? which is called Rectum. I had my symptoms all put down to cancer of the bowel at the time, and my colonocopy came back normal. I have now been diagnosed with an abnomal lump in my anus and is mallignant. I wil be going to see a specialist hopefully before christmas. As I will be a public patient. So I need to know why my colonoscopy did now pick up my cancer of the anus? And I have been getting all day radiating pain down my left knee of and on which is painful. Is this part of the condition? But what I need to know mostly is why did the colonoscopy not detect my anal cancer?
Panda shut your mouth on someting you know nothing about. I do have this cancer as it was reviled me only last week so I would shutmy mouth of I were you and I am glad I am not
Answer: You have a condition called Munchausen syndrome and that is why nothing was found on a colonoscopy.
