Question: What do you fellow Philosopher's think of this? I have grown in a fairy tale.
I grew up with the understanding, from my wholly optimistic mother, that people were generally good. This, I find to be false.
I have heard people say, Men are savages, with no cares for any but himself. This, I find to be false.
I have found this. Men are Animals. You cannot deny it, hide it or lie about it, without an equal and valid counterpoint being made. That's the truth. We contain goodness, we contain evil; we contain greatness, we contain savagery; we contain valour, and we contain greed.
Another thing known to be true. Animals will compete for land. And the less available, the more vicious, dirty, and savage that competition becomes. What happens when we have too many people? We have ceased living. Instead of finding joy in our work, and living for love, life, and family, we have live for our work, and find joy in love, life, and family. We work to make money to live, and keep going. Work is not supposed to be a center of our lives, it is supposed to be an attachment, something added on to make more possible in our lives. Instead millions of people trudge off every day to jobs they hate, for pay they dislike, and time away from the truly important things in life.
Evolution is nature, yet men have ceased to evolve. This man is overweight? Here, have a liposuction. That man stuck his head in a cannon to get a nickel, oh, well, pull him out, and make it illegal to own cannons. At a certain point, you have to wonder, is a sense of "decency" causing the general downfall of the rest of us? We try to fend off cancer, aids, polio, and more, rather than becoming immune as a species.
I can feel it in my bones, something is wrong with the world as it is today. It doesn't matter how many times you put a monkey in a suit, he still wants to climb trees, eat bananas, and throw his shit. And yet, here we stand, wearing suits, running around, and every time someone grabs a banana, we scold him, call him strange, avoid him, or ignore him. People aren't meant to live the way we do. Look at America, the pinnacle of "civilization", yet we suffer obesity, ignorance... we have become sheep. I wonder, am I a sheep, a shepherd, or a wolf.
And then it occurs to me. What if it's the wolves in shepherd's clothing?
If you read the whole thing; Kudos, and thanks for the support/attention span.
Answer: That sounds so negative, but indeed is true for the most part. I endorse in particular the view that we may have begun to 'devolve' rather than evolve due to our penchant to control the Nature rather than adapt to it. And yes, our ever so subtly present hypocrisy makes us the wolves in the garb of the shepherd and an utterly ignorant one at that to make the biggest mistake of believing that Nature is our sheep!! Ignorance makes us arrogant....... arrogance makes us fools!! Fools end up paying through the nose!! Ever growing strife, stress and unhappiness is indeed no small price that we are paying already in rather large measures!!
Thanks for a thought provoking post!! Enjoyed every bit of reading and responding to it!!
Question: What book should I read first? A Certain Slant of Light
Helen died 130 years ago as a young woman. Unable to enter heaven because of a sense of guilt she carried at death, she has been silent and invisible but conscious and sociable across the generations. Her spirit has been sustained by its attachment to one living human host after another, including a poet and, most recently, a high-school English teacher. While she sits through his class one day, she becomes aware of James and he–unlike the mortals all around them–is aware of her as well. James, who also died years earlier, inhabits the body of a contemporary teen, Billy. James and Helen fall in love, he shows her how to inhabit the body of a person whose spirit has died but who still lives and breathes, and the two begin to unfold the mysteries of their own pasts and those of their adolescent hosts. Jenny, whose body Helen now uses, is the only child of strict religious parents who controlled her beyond what her spirit could endure. Billy's spirit left his body after a string of tragedies resulting from drug abuse and domestic violence.

Shortly after this discovery, her mother, Jocelyn, an erstwhile Shadowhunter, is kidnapped. Jocelyn is the only person who knows the whereabouts of The Mortal Cup, a dangerous magical item that turns humans into Shadowhunters. Clary must find the cup and keep it from a renegade sector of Shadowhunters bent on eliminating all nonhumans, including benevolent werewolves and friendly vampires.

Night World
The book centers on a young girl named Poppy, who is diagnosed with terminal cancer(pancreatic cancer.) Her best friend James, unknown to her is a vampire related to the Redfern family, who hold an important position within the Night World. Unable to bear the thought of losing her, he breaks the rules by making her a dangerous offer: he can save her life by making her a vampire. Poppy must contend with James' sudden revelation, the emotional strain of her dilemma, and her protective, highly suspicious twin brother Phil, all in the midst of her terminal diagnosis. Her eventual decision is further complicated by the discovery that she and James are soulmates and by the fact that her existence as a human would be forbidden under Night World law. Poppy chooses the life of vampire, forsaking death, but at the cost of any contact with her family who believe that she has died, and with the life she had previously known. Shortly afterward James' capricious cousin Ash Redfern comes to visit and telepathically learns the truth of the situation. He persuades Poppy that her continued presence in James' life poses a threat to him, and persuades her to accompany him to Las Vegas where he plans to expose her as an illegal vampire to the Elders at a Night World gathering. When she realizes what is about to happen, Poppy discovers unexpected powers which help defend her from Ash; also James and her brother Phil arrive to intervene just in time. It transpires that Poppy and Phil are in fact lost witches, and thus the dilemma is solved. P
Prom Night from Hell
This exciting collection of short stories by popular teen authors—Meg Cabot, Kim Harrison, Michele Jaffe, Stephenie Meyer, and Lauren Myracle—embraces the dark side of a revered tradition. It starts with vampire-hunting Mary, who takes her mission of revenge on Dracula seriously enough to evoke his wrath by killing his son at her high school prom, and ends with the horned demon Sheba, who tries to wreak havoc at her prom. With edgy writing designed to hook and captivate even the most reluctant of readers, each story is filled with strong, appealing characters who work their magic on the senses by appearing to be strong, daring, and passionate. Readers are taken on an exhilarating ride through the terrifying side of an otherwise common event, and the mood is cleverly sustained with an aura of fast-paced yet somber writing
Answer: Dark Lover by JR Ward.
The Black Dagger Brotherhood series are some of my favorite books. Having tried the others, I feel that Dark Lover is a step above the rest. However, be warned, Dark Lover is extremely erotic. The other books are much less so and can fall into the category of Young Adult Fiction.
But still, try Dark Lover, you won't regret it. You may find yourself hooked on a wonderful series! Good luck!
Question: Do Jehovah's Witnesses accept stem cells? What about for bone marrow replacement therapy in cases of Cancer? Thank you for any and all answers.
I have been given some wonderful answers and appreciate it.
Thank you.
Answer: Not embryonic stem cells.
But for others, it is just like the blood products (these products may also not contain blood but at some time during their process may have used A CELL of animal blood or albumin) or medical procedures for transference of blood (cell saver or removing a small amount of blood for 2 minutes to mix with chemical radiation or other medicine and reinserting) - there has to be a one on one look at something like this for every Witness patient.
Medical advances are taking place at lightning speed. What may not be acceptable today may be tomorrow. So AT THE TIME of possible need, a Witness will look at EVERY THING involved and will make an informed decision for their particular case that will not conflict with his or her conscience and Jehovah's standards as outlined in the Bible.
So if I said no today, I may say yes tomorrow.
And if I said yes today, I may say no tomorrow.
That may not be an answer you want, but it is the answer.
Everyone is an individual. Their health needs have to be looked at one on one. Some people cannot take something as common as an aspirin or certain vitamins or herbs. All medical procedures must be discussed with medical personnel and the person is ultimately allowed to make their own decision, no matter what a doctor recommends or does not recommend.
That is what a conscience is for. And a conscience guides us when a clear statement is NOT provided in the Bible. If there is a clear statement, we accept the Bible.
Question: Can the Bone Cancer recur again after enough no. of Chemo-theraopy were given? My 5th therapy is on 9-1-08?
I was operated for Prostate second time in Dec. '05. Because of Cancer, the testees were removed. Medicines were given, In April '07, my PSA was 0.95. In Sept. I felt very bad, weakness, loss of wt. 5 Kg. in a month, no appetite for food. Fatigue, illness and no mood. Reports were taken. PSA came to be 92.92 ! Doctor was consulted, and he stopped the medicine Calutide meant for Cancer. Bone scannin and CT Scan were taken. Bone cancer was confirmed. A little little was spread into skull, Rib, Spine, Long Bones, and Pelvis. Imediate Chemo-Therapy was started. No pain. My fifth is on 9th Jan.'08. a Total of six have been suggested. Now I am feeling qute fine. First Therapy was on 18-10-07, and then every 21st day. Getting good appetite, taking a lot of Fluid, liquid and proper food also. Wt. is also increased. PSA also came down to 20.76!
If I get better, say for 3 to 4 years or so, are there chances of Cancer recurring again? What Precautions needed?
Kishor Gordhandas
Answer: The fact that your cancer has spread to so many different areas already is not a good sign. Once cancer gets into your bones it can enter your blood stream and pretty much go anywhere it wants. However, chemo is very good at doing its job. It is very possible that this last treatment of chemo could put your cancer into remission. Hope that helped and goodluck!
Question: oncologists in New England USA using IV Ascorbate therapy for cancer? 7 year old with bone cancer
Answer: Opponents of vitamin C therapy would do well to acknowledge that Pauling and Cameron's work has been confirmed, perhaps most notably at Japan's Saga University by Murata and others (Murata, A., Morishige, F. and Yamaguchi, H. (1982) Prolongation of survival times of terminal cancer patients by administration of large doses of ascorbate. International Journal of Vitamin and Nutrition Research Suppl., 23, 1982, p. 103-113. Also in Hanck, A., ed. (1982) Vitamin C: New Clinical Applications. Bern: Huber, 103-113). Dr. Murata employed over 30,000 mg per day and had even better results with terminally ill cancer patients. In the words of Dr. Louis Lasagna (1981) of the University of Rochester Medical School, "It seems indefensible not to at least try substantial doses of vitamin C in these patients."

Question: Bone cancer advice please :(? My gran has been diagnosed with secondary bone cancer and my life has completly turned upside down, she is 78 but a young heart. We havent been given an indication of how long she will have left but have been told the radio therapy is ONLY for the pain. How, if any way can i come to term with this & make her last months/ possible years VERY special for her, I'm not ready to loose her yet :(
X
Answer: I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma, I'll be saying a prayer for her. Nobody can predict when a loved one will pass away so she could be with you another 2-3 years. Only God knows the hour of our death. Prayer is a powerful thing and if you are a christian, get your whole church to pray for her. I've seen miracles happen, trust me. But if it is her time to go pretty soon, it's a tough thing to wrap your mind around. In time you'll come to terms with it as you pass from stage to stage in the grieving process. With the elderly, they actually accept death better than their loved ones do so it will be harder on you than her. Just love her and do as much for her as you can, that's all you can do. If possible, take her somewhere she's always wanted to go, like on a cruise ship, or the grand canyon. Appreciate every day you have with her and pray every day for more! I wish her and all of you the best. Again, you're in my prayers.
Question: how far is radiation effective in treating bone cancer?the patient is suffering from chorodial metastisis? the patient is male58 yr old and has an old diabetic history. he also has history of breast cancer detected in1999,he was operated for the same followed by radiation and chemo therapy.he was given temoxifen for5yrsregularly even though his ER/PRwas negative. then last year (april 2005) the disease wasagain detected in the left eye and was called chorodial metastisisthen afterconductin mri ,ct- scanand other tests it was found that the disease had spread in the bone lungs, femur, pelvis etc.after consulting with dr S.H. Advani he prescribed chemo therapy as surgery was not recomended.unfortunately during the2nd chemo therapy (june2005)the chemo medicine leaked from the port leading tonecrosis, due to which the patientsufferedwith continuous fever for two months, the port was removed in july2005,and the area which had developed necrosis was debrived (sep 2005)all thiswhile the main treatment was discontinued. the patient is now being givenradiationand oralchemo, xeloda.he alsohad MI oc'05
Answer: At this point, radiation is now used as a palliative approach. This means that if there is pain, then radiation can help in certain instances. Radiation will have a palliative effect on bony metastasis, but as far as a curative approach, radiation is effective concerning isolated spots as opposed to body-wide disease. As far as the herbal approach, it is good to investigate all arenas of the playing field. It is not good to forgo any approach. I hope this was of help. Good luck.
