Question: Are you, or do you know any brain cancer survive rs? My brother was just diagnosed with brain cancer. He is 55 years old. The tumor was removed on Wednesday. We do know it is malignant, but do not yet know the stage. His CT scan and MRI came back clear, however the doctor said he would still require radiation and chemotherapy. I have read some very negative prognosis for brain cancer and that is why I am asking for others to tell me what they have experienced. Please be truthful, even if the outcome is negative.
Answer: How do you even know for sure it's malignant, his age? They had to send mine off to determine the cells involved and the staging. How large was the tumor? Mine was 6 cm big, in my right temporal lobe. He will get the chemo and radiation at the same time and it will be asap, before it has a chance to regrow. Infection is always a possibility with open wounds on the head. Mine got infected and I couldn't start my treatments till it cleared up. If there's any oozing from the incision tell him to get to the dr's right away. They sent me to the er and I spent 3 hours there hooked up to iv antibiotics and other meds. Finally started my treatments 10 days later. Had to go have another set of ct and mri's so they could measure the treatment field. He should also take a cd of his cts and mris before removal and after. His radiation doc and chemo doc will need to see them. He will have a plastic mask with little holes all over, fitted to his face so he doesn't move while getting radiation. My first time with mask took almost an hour cause they were taking all different angles of xrays. After that, it only took about 5 minutes for treatment and once a week, they'd do a quick xray. That should be 5 days a week for 6 weeks and temodar every day for 6 weeks. Make sure he asks for zofran also. He doesn't want to puke his guts up all night. He'll get a metallic taste in his mouth that just won't go away. The radiation clinics always have bowls full of mints for that very reason...chemo office too. He'll get a month break after his treatment and then he'll start up on a large dose of temodar, taking it for 5 days and having 23 days off for at least 6 months. He'll get mri about once a month or so while going through all his treatments. I was dx aug 29 and had the surgery sept 1 of this past year. The outcome's not negative yet; I'm typing away! Wish him well for me.
Question: prognosis for secondary brain cancer?
Answer: this is not a question that can be disscussed on answers as it all depends on the site of the cancer in the brain and where it originates from.
Question: lung cancer spreading to the brain? Waiting for the doc to call for the latest biopsy results on my room-mate. She has 10 spots of cancer in her lungs. It's in the brain. Lymph nodes. Its affecting the kidneys. He wants her to do radiation. She just wants to die as peaceful as possible. Thats about all i know . Guess does anyone have any info on a prognosis. Is there a chance with radiation? They aren't giving her much time.
It is stage 4 , They want to work on the brain cancer, with radiation, to make her more comfortable. Thank you for everyone's support.

Question: FOR PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE IN BRAIN TUMORS: I'm worrying about brain stem gliomas and I'm a 13 year old male? Please read this, this is important!!
Okay well I am worrying about a brain stem glioma, apparently dizziness is a symptom of it and I have been experiencing that, about 10 minutes ago I started getting this vertigo where when I closed my eyes, I felt like I was really spinning around and I felt like I was gonna lose my balance when I put my feet together to test my balance. As I write this, I am laying down on my bed and I don't feel like I have much vertigo right now, it seems like the vertigo gets a bit worse when I move.
I have been worrying about dizziness and vertigo seriously 24/7, I never stop worrying and it seemed like the vertigo started a few days or a day after I started worrying about the vertigo symptom, I will use Google and type in mild dizziness with "s before the mild and after dizziness then I'll type in brain stem glioma with it and see if there are any parents saying stuff like "my child has a brain stem glioma. His symptoms were only mild dizziness bla bla", then I'll worry more.
I just typed in what I explained before and I found some articles and read them, but I don't think they were what I expected which was good but there was this one article that you has to pay for to view and I think it was about this womans child who has a brain stem glioma and his symptoms were only "mild occasional dizziness" from the bit I read before clicking on the result.
By the looks of it, I'm the only kid my age who has been worrying about this specific type of brain tumor, I use my computer basically all day, but that's not my concern right now, BRAIN STEM GLIOMAS ARE.
Considering the prognosis of brain stem gliomas are bad, like less than a year in most cases, I worry more and there are no treatments and no one is FUNDING for research, so no research is being done to find a cure and all these children are DYING with deterioration of their motor skills and there is NOTHING they can do about it, people are donating for breast cancer while this brain tumor is the big concern, I've read stories about children with brain stem gliomas (all of them are dead), the longest living child in the WORLD with that type of tumor has been 5 years, I am so scared of having this brain tumor, people say "you would have more symptoms if you had a brain tumor like that", but from the articles I have read, there are some children who have had only mild vertigo and all they can do is pray for a miracle, but with this type of tumor there are no miracles, it kills all of its victims.
People donate money to AIDS research when a lot of people can live normal lives with treatment but with brain stem gliomas, no one lives 0.1% of a normal life.
Please tell me what you think about my dizziness/vertigo symptom, it seems to be worse when I think about it, I am just a 13 year old boy and don't know sh*t about the brain stem and what parts of it are affected by this tumor.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING THIS, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!!!!!!
Note: I do not experience ear pain at all.
Answer: Take a deep breath. Relax. You're a 13 y/o boy self-diagnosing. Be honest, what are the odds that you're accurate? Doctors train for years and sometimes still make mistakes.
Ask a parent to take you to the pediatrician. Talk to him/her about the dizzyness and the anxiety.
