Cervical Cancer Symptoms
Question: What are some symptoms of cervical cancer? Well my question is really for someone out there who had been diagnosed with cervical or uterine cancer. I just wanted to know what made you go to the dr in the first place. What were your symptoms?
Answer: Hi I work for a website called http://icyou.com which has thousands of videos on a wide variety of health topics. I don't have cervical cancer myself but here is a link to a video we created that discusses the common signs and symptoms of cervical cancer:

Hope this helps you~
Question: What are the symptoms of cervical cancer? im curious of what the symptoms are for cervical cancer. if u had it would u still have normal periods?
Answer: Most of the time there are no symptoms. You would still have a normal period. As it gets advanced you might have other bleeding.
Question: What are some of the symptoms of cervical cancer? I have a history of cancer in my family and one of the things I'm most worried about is Cervical Cancer. What exactly are the symptoms?
Answer: My best friend died this past august as a result of having cervical cancer.
first and foremost, cervical cancer is the only cancer that you get as a result of being infected from a virus. The virus is HPV.
there are 30 to 40 types of HPV genital types. But there are 2 types #16 and #18 )which cause 70-percent of cervical cancers.
HPV TRANSMISSION—WHO GETS IT?
Human papillomavirus (HPV) affects both females and males. HPV transmission can happen with any kind of sexual, genital contact with someone who has HPV—intercourse isn't necessary.
Many people who have HPV don't even know it, since the virus often has no signs or symptoms. That means HPV transmission can happen without anyone knowing it.
There are about 6 million new cases of genital HPV* in the United States each year. It's estimated that 74% of them occur in 15- to 24-year-olds.
MY BEST friend was experiencing a lot of pain when she urinated. doctors kept treating her for kidney stones. her lower back ached a lot too. she became depressed and everyone thought she was being hypochondriac. Later on it turns out, the pain she was feeling...was the tumor pressing up against her ureters. This is why she felt she had to pee all the time and also explains her lower back pain. she described it as a very dull aching sensation.
The best way to prevent this frm happening...is to just go to routine pap smears. That is what the pap smear is for. To see if there is any irregularity with your cells on your cervix. You should go every 6 months.--if my friend had gone to her pap smears regulary..she would most likely be here today...i miss her so much.'
take care
Question: Is this the symptoms for cervical cancer? Recently, my mom was having the symptoms of vagina pain, bleeding (brown) although her menstrual was over for that month ( bleeding occurs about a week then it stop then it occurs again and stop), vagina swollen, itchiness of vagina (inner part), the urine stink, fatigue, back pain but no discharge. My mom do smoke.
So is this the symptoms for cervical cancer? If it is what can be done?
Answer: it could be symptoms of a lot of things...
the only thing i can say is go to a doctor before it gets worse. none of us are going to be able to safely diagnose your mother online
good luck :)
Question: Are there any symptoms associated with cervical cancer? Back in January I had an abnormal Pap that was high risk and was referred on to have a colposcopy done. I just recently found out that the doctor that had done the colposcopy had stated in her note that she had almost been certain after doing the colposcopy that I had cervical cancer. Then everything came back as negative and she just told me to follow up with a Pap every 6 months....should I get a second opinion? Are there any symptoms of cervical cancer?
Answer: Yes . . . painful intercourse and bleeding after sex. But many women have no symptoms at all.
Don't wait 6 months. Get a second opinion ASAP. And try to see a gynecologic oncolgist, not an ob/gyn. Those results are WEIRD. For her to visually think it was cancer, and for it to be normal . . . I know I'd be wanting a whole colposcopy from a different doctor.
Question: Can a woman have symptoms of cervical cancer? I always get abnormals paps and have abnormal periods right now I haven't had a period since Oct. of last year and I am not pregnant. My mom got cervical cancer when she was 32 years old and I'm so scared that someday I'll get it too. I have some discomfert on my lower and some crams Is there any symptoms for cancer. My pap isn't due until June. Thankssss
Answer: Get a pap now! AND! There is actually three shots now available to anyone under a certain age "I think its 27" the HPV vaccine! HPV is the number one cause of cervical cancer....
So... ladies.... go to the nearest health care center and get it done! I did and feel so much safer... although I have had A LOT of shots in my life.. these three were the worst by FAR.... Just a pre warning.
Question: If you or anyone you know has had cervical cancer what were your symptoms? I know many women do not have symptoms, but if you did what were they and how long did it take the doctors to determine it was cervical cancer?
Have any of you or anyone you know had normal paps the one abnormal pap that turned out to be cervical cancer?
That is did you have normal pap smears then have one abnormal that turned out to be cervical cancer?
Answer: Sometimes abnormal paps are cancerous, sometimes they are just abnormal. ANY abnormal pap mandates further tests. Most of the time if they feel it could be cervical cancer they will do a colposcopy and a biopsy to see if the cells are cancerous. Cervical cancer is a slow progressing cancer and normally does not show any symptoms. However if the cancer has progressed to a dangerous stage there may be excessive/consistent vaginal bleeding (when you aren't on your period, or during/after intercourse). Abnormal vaginal discharge is also associated with cervical cancer. You need to make sure you get your annual pap every year at about the same time to ensure you don't have any problems that could go undetected.
Question: cervical cancer symptoms? okay so i've already posted a question about this,
but my mind still isn't at ease.
and i'm still freaking out about it.
im sixteen, only had sex with one guy (almost a year ago), who had sex with only one girl.
i had already had one cervical cancer needle before i had sex with him
protected most of the time (unprotected for about 5 minutes)
i don't have any cervical cancer symptoms really other that,
sometimes burning and pain.
and tonight just got pain in my groin and legs and lower stomach after drinking.
i don't know if i'm just being paranoid or if i could actually have it.
i always worry about diseases. it's silly. but do you think i could have cervical cancer?
could the pain be kidney stones?
i've heard you get them from drinking.
and i drank a fair amount today, i'm still abit tipsy.
and i drink a fair lot for my age.
i get drunk every weekend.
i know i shouldn't, but it's hard not to when all your other mates are out drinkin. anyway,
could it be that? i just dont know why this sudden pain has come on. it hurts ):
Answer: Your pains are much more likely to be alcohol related.
If getting drunk makes you worry so much you know the answer to that!
Drink in moderation. It is possible.
Acute drinking binges often can cause some transient swelling of the liver. Since the liver is in a dense "capsule" or sheath, when it swells it hurts
Binges can also produe a lot of irritation to the stomach lining causing abdominal pain
The pancreas frequently is irritated by binge drinking.
Why not get checked by your doctor? Much better than worrying about things you are unlikely to have at 16.
Question: i am 14 years old and i think i have symptoms for cervical cancer. does anyone have the same symptoms? i have only been sexually active for about 2 or 3 weeks now, and it has been with the same person. Everytime we've had sex, i would spot the next time i went to the bathroom. It's very light and its only right after we'd have sex, but i read that it is a symptom for cervical cancer. i didn't get the shot yet. does anyone else have this problem?
Answer: ( ^^ For crying out loud. Maybe she came on here for some support. Not b*tching about her age. Let it go!)

It's very normal for a lot of girls to bleed after sex in the beginning.
Although, if it bothers you, go to the doctors and it can put your mind at rest.
Question: What are some symptoms of cervical cancer vs signs of a ovarian cyst? (Sorry ya'll if my spelling is off!)
Answer: Cervical cancer is painless and has no symptoms (unless it's in it's very, very, late stages). Ovarian cysts sometimes have no symptoms, but when they do, it's usually lower quadrant pain, and sometimes some minor bleeding.
Question: what are common symptoms of cervical cancer and how quickly can it spread? I know sexual discomfort can be a symptom, but what exactly does that mean? what kind of discomfort?
Answer: Cervical cancer grows slowly; that's why getting a yearly Pap smear is imperative for all women. The Pap smear detects early changes to the cervix that may be signs of cervical cancer, or more likely, other cervical conditions.
There are no obvious signs or symptoms of cervical cancer. The cervical cancer symptoms usually do not present themselves until the cancer has spread.
Few symptoms can include:
a. Abnormal bleeding.
b. Heavier, long-lasting periods.
c. Unusual vaginal discharge.
d. Pelvic pain.
e. Pain during urination.
Question: cervical cancer symptoms, what are alternative causes? i am displaying most of the symptoms of cervical cancer:
fortnightly periods, discomfort and significant bleeding (proper blood) during sex etc.
i was on the pill microgen 30 (spelling) for a couple of years before a problem arose and i first changed pill, i've now tried four and being off the pill with no change. it is very unlikely i'm in danger of sti/d's.
i have a smear test booked, but i have researched online (as it does give me some piece of mind) and it says these symptoms can be caused by many other things but doesn't say what?!? any ideas?
thank you, i know i shouldn't be thinking about this so much before my results but i like being informed.
i am only 18 so have never had a smear test before, and the symptoms have been progressing for about 10 months
- only when the irregular periods began did i try switching pills, before then i had had no problems. the one i'm on currently has a higher hormone level but has no difference.
Answer: really, unless you have missed a smear or two in a row, then no, i would say you dont have cervical cancer, you see it takes several years for CC to reach the stage where you would have symptoms. It is more probable you have either an issue with changing around your pills, which can really cause some hormonal imbalances..or you have another type of issue, such as pollops (harmless, just need removing). If you have been good with your smears, then the very early stages of pre cancer..CIN 1 and 2, would have been picked up before now. Try not to worry, you are going to have a significant wait for your smear result anyway.
Question: Ovarian and cervical cancer symptoms? ovarian and cervical cancer runs heavily in my family (grandmother, 2 aunts and mother have all had cancer) I am 25 with a 4 year old, it's funny beause I work in the med. field as a CMA and I know how important healthcare is, yet I'm scared to death to go see the OB. I have severe cramping for up to a week before I start, I cramp so badly I can't stand up straight! Also when I do start I barely bleed! As hard as I cramp you would think I would bleed like a stuck horse!!!! Another thing that makes me suspect there is something wrong is the fact that my husband and I have not used any form of birth control since before I got pregnant with our daughter, it has been close to 6 yrs. and we don't even use comdoms! I honestly do not believe that I can get pregnant again because of the problems I have been having, we actually tried very hard about a year ago for almost 6 months to get pregnant again with no avail. I'm afraid to talk to my mom about symptoms cuz she will worry.
Answer: Ovarian cancer does not cause many symptoms in its early stages. This is why most cases are not found until the cancer has spread.4 Most women do have symptoms in the 6 to 12 months before ovarian cancer is found. Symptoms that occur in later stages are most likely caused by the pressure of the growing cancer. Symptoms include:
Ongoing cramps or pain in your belly.
Ongoing pain in your pelvis or lower back.
Abnormal bleeding from your vagina, especially after menopause if you are not using any hormonal medicines.
Abnormal discharge from your vagina, containing mucus that may be tinged with blood.
Pain or bleeding during sex.
Nausea or loss of appetite, or you cannot eat normally.
Ongoing bloating or intestinal gas that is not relieved by home treatment measures.
Bigger belly size or a lump that can be felt in your belly.
Decreased energy level.
A change in your bowel habits, such as constipation or diarrhea.
A change in your bladder habits, such as urinary frequency or urgency.
Weight loss.
Question: Does anybody know what the symptoms of cervical cancer is? I have just recently found out i may have it....my OBGYN wrote me a letter...my bodies been real achey an my stomache has been hurting bad....someone please tell me what are the symptoms
Answer: usually, there are no symptoms, and a doctor finds suspecious cells on a pap smear. It sounds like this is your situation. Cervical cancer is very highly curable when detected this way, and it may be that you dont have cancer, but rather a precancerous state called dysplasia.
when advanced, which i have only ever seen in women who were very negligent about their pap smears, it can cause a bloody or clear vaginal discharge. no doctor can ever be 100% sure about anything, but i do NOT think your discomforts are due to cervical cancer.
Question: I'm 15 and I have some symptoms of cervical cancer. How can I be sure if I have it? Can I have it at this ag? I haven't had the gardsil vaccine or any other vaccines to prevent cancer, is it too late to get it?
Answer: I really doubt you have cervical cancer at age 15. HPV takes a long time to turn into cervical cancer, and you probably have not been having sex for several years yet.
If you are having sex, you need to get a pap smear every year at the gynocologist or Planned Parenthood. Go get one ASAP to put your mind at ease about the cervical cancer.
I also hope you are using protection for STD's and birth control.
There are real dangers to the HPV vaccine. I hope you would research it thoroughly before getting it. I think it is much safer to skip the vaccine and use condoms and get yearly pap smears, things you should do whether you get the vaccine or not.
Question: What are the early signs and symptoms of cervical cancer? I lost my dear mum due to late diagnosis of the disease
Answer: Early cervical cancer generally produces no signs or symptoms. As the cancer progresses, these signs and symptoms may appear:
Vaginal bleeding after intercourse, between periods or after menopause
Watery, bloody vaginal discharge that may be heavy and have a foul odor
Pelvic pain or pain during intercourse
Risk factors
These factors increase your risk of cervical cancer:
Many sexual partners. The greater your number of sexual partners — and the greater your partner's number of sexual partners — the greater your chance of acquiring HPV.
Early sexual activity. Having sex before age 18 increases your risk of HPV. Immature cells seem to be more susceptible to the precancerous changes that HPV can cause.
Other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). If you have other STDs — such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis or HIV/AIDS — you have a greater chance of also having acquired HPV.
A weak immune system. Most women who are infected with HPV never develop cervical cancer. However, if you have an HPV infection and your immune system is weakened by another health condition, you may be more likely to develop cervical cancer.
Cigarette smoking. The exact mechanism that links cigarette smoking to cervical cancer isn't known, but tobacco use increases the risk of precancerous changes as well as cancer of the cervix
