Cervix Cancer Research

Question: I had a hysterectomy about a year ago due to cancer,? My concern is I am still having really bad bleeding a year later..went to see my doctor he saids maybe I need my cervix removed ...but I did some research and the cervix has nothing to do with bleeding so now I am concerned about this surgery my doctor wants to have done on me any advice...its not all the time just once a month like a period but worst then any period I have ever had. can someonen please help me

Answer: This confuses me terribly. You should have no period because you have no uterus, which is removed during hysterectomy. Periods/bleeding occur when an egg sloughs the lining in the uterus, but you have no uterus so you should have no sloughing. It sounds like your medical professionals have not done a good job of explaining what is going on. You need to ask them what's up. I don't see why the remaining cervix would cause bleeding either. This is definitely not good and you need to talk to your doctor before he tries to do another surgery. Something is not right.
