Colon Cancer Center
Question: where is the best cancer treatment center for young person with colon cancer if traditional chemo didn't work
Answer: The best cancer treatment center is here in Houston, Texas. You may contact me and I will direct you to the best oncologist that has a cure rate of over 90%. I will give you his name, address and telephone number. If you can't get to Houston on your own, we will make arrangements for your travel, after speaking with your Dr. where you now live. This Dr. cured our best friend of Cancer and was asked to be the head physician at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center here in Houston. He turned it down as he was being successful treating his patients and curing them through his own reseach and development laboratory. He is truly amazing. You may contact me at greg120750@yahoo.com if you need further information. I cannot just put his name out thre without his permission. Thanks and take care!
Question: Metastatic liver cancer- am looking for medical center that does the most research in that area? I contracted colon cancer about three years ago and had it removed by resection. This was followed by chemo using oxiplatin anf FU-5. I faired really well except for neural damage in feet. Now a spot has appeared in the upper portion of my liver which is metastatic from the colon. A local liver surgeon is planning a resection and this will undoubted be followed by more chemo. I understand the real risk is from other seedlings of the cancer which may now start to appear either in the liver or other organs and that my defenses will be really low to fight them. I am looking to find the research center who most commonly deals with metastatic colon cancer to learn as much as possible about new techniques, drugs, or whatever. I might go there for the surgery or at a minimum get a second opinion on procedure etc.
Answer: stanford medical center- plus u should get hold of sales reps from genentech and see if they have new study going on that is specific for liver cancer.
Question: I have recently been diagnosed with colon cancer? I am 30 years old, and they have found a tumor...long story. Anyway. I have been referred to Washington Hospital Center. My dad had colon cancer 3 years ago (believe my case is genetic) and I was wondering what is better...washington Hospital center of johns hopkins? I want to make the right choice.
Answer: Johns Hopkins is an excellent hospital. They are a teaching hospital & at the forefront of research. However, remember hosps assoc w/universities will have a group of physicians observing all of your procedures. You will have doctors learning how to perform procedures on you under the supervision of top doctors. You will receive excellent care, but you might feel a bit of a "fishbowl" experience or that you are a guinea pig.
I don't know what type of hosp Washington Hospital Center is.
Yes, you want the best medicine/technology has to offer. I've had many surgeries at teaching hospitals. However, the last surgery I had I just wanted to be a patient & not a case for someone to learn from (although in many "regular" hosps u'll have ppl who are also observing/learning). At the "regular" hosp, I got to just have my surgery & heal. That's plenty enough to deal with; ppl are still in & out of your room at all hours. I didn't want anyone who was not an expert poking & prodding me.
If it were a little-known disease, I'd go for the university hospital due to the research factor; sometimes they'll have exp that regular hospitals won't. I've known many ppl who've had great success w/colon cancer at local hospitals. Colon cancer is something we know a lot about. They can remove the tumor & part of the intestines. Sometimes radiation &/or chemo are not necessary.
Also, the atmosphere of the hosptial has a lot to do with recovery. Visit the floors you'd be on in both hosp, if possible. Sometimes smaller hospitals have great benefits.
Speak w/patient advocates in both hospitals. Tell them your concerns & ask questions (write them all down beforehand).
Research the doctors (& teams: anesthesiologist, assisting surgeon, oncologist, etc) for both centers. Go with the professionals whom you have the most confidence.
Question: Has anyone with colon cancer that has gone to other organs had a remission? what chemo treatments were taken? I have stage 4 colorectal cancer, in liver and lymph nodes,, on avastin, since doc 05 the tumors have decreased half in size but oncologist is still saying i am terminal and no surgery can be done. Went to Duke Cancer center in NC and they said the same thing. If anyone has had or has this type of cancer i would love to talk to you ! I was given 5 to ten months to live sept 04, then got very bad, went to Duke for second opinion, they put me on the avastin but only gave me two weeks to live, i was that bad. Today, i do anything i want to , altho i get tired walking so bought me a medical scooter hehe. But most days have no paini thanks to motrin and morphine, and feel normal enough to want to go fishing and camping and horse back riding again..and if someone had told me last year i would of ever felt like doing that again, i would of told them they were crazy! IF you have/had this cancer, do write me, as ido not know anyone else who has it ! thanks
Answer: To find out more on cancer and how you can beat it I found a great site!!
Question: Stage 4 Cancer, do people diagnosed with it live longer in Seattle? I talked to somebody today that is going to Swedish Cancer Center she lives in Georgia and makes the trip for her chemotherapy once a week. She said that it is a fact that if you have stage 4 cancer and you get treatment in Seattle for the disease the patients tend to live longer getting treatment in Seattle is it because it is home to many cancer institutes? Do you believe that statement?
Personally I know somebody that has stage 4 colon cancer and has been fighting it for seven years and she lives in Seattle. This lady commutes from Georgia to Seattle for her chemotherapy treatments and she is doing a clinical study. She has made over 130 trips here from there.
I thought it strange that she told me that, but then I thought to myself if it help her to deal with it and gives her hope then that is all that matters. If she believes it than she just might make it through ok.
I have prayed for her a lot today. She is on week two of 12 weeks of pure Taxol. She told me the drug and I said my wife was on Taxol she said the drug she is on they make Taxol from it.
I don't understand a lot of the drugs, but only that they cause too much pain.

Answer: I think it is her positive thinking and perhaps the weather in Seattle has a lot to do with it. Asking God to see you through it is my personal feelings.
God bless you.
Question: I'm scared! Is this something wrong with my colon? cancer? This is a serious question that has been worrying me for over a month now. I've had symptoms such discomfort in the lower center part of my abdomen around my belly button. The pain seems to get better and worsen at random times within the day; I can't tell if it is associated with eating, bowel movements, or stress. Another symptom that is scaring and worrying me horribly is seeing specs of blood in my stool. I've been on the computer looking everyday and no one has told me how I can tell if this is blood in my stool or if it is undigested food... There was one instance where there was a bright red streak of blood on my stool a few weeks ago and I went to see a doctor. He performed a DRE and told me my stools felt hard and did a test right there which told me I had no blood in that stool. Also, I took a blood test that same day which came back completely normal. He told me I had hemorrhoids but I don't feel I was inspected thoroughly enough and it seems like his diagnosis was just a guess. More recently I have been passing stool in balls or pebble shapes and sometimes when I look there are specs of red on top or in them. There is no blood in the water, on my toilet paper, or on my underwear. The specs appear bright red, are small, and there are usually three of them or so. Along with the lower center abdominal discomfort, sometimes I feel a pain in my anus. I'm scared to death this is something serious and I'm not sure I should trust this doctor. I should mention that I'm twenty one years old and spend most of the day sitting down at the computer, however, I do not want this problem to be passed off just because I'm "too young". I'm very concerned and I don't trust the doctor I saw. I also was diagnosed with panic disorder a few years ago and I often over analyze everything to do with my body. I feel this is a real and legitimate concern and that my parents keep passing it off as nothing because I'm young and I feel that the doctor did not give me a thorough exam because I am young. I need help, advice, or at least comfort on this matter because I'm afraid I'm going to die. I have a constant fear of death from disease and I can't tell if it's legitimate or from my mental disorder. I beg and cry for help; I often feel like a life like this isn't worth living. What are these symptoms from? Should I see another doctor? Do I have cancer? Somebody help me. :(
Answer: 1st off calm down. If your dr did a rectal exam and found hemorrhoids that may explain any small flecks of blood or a smear on tissue. If you have a BM and the water is RED like straight blood, or lvery dark and tarry looking then I would be very concerned. What were you eating in the 2 or 3 days before the bm;s where you saw blood? Any red peppers, pimentos, or apple peelings? That would explain the red flecks. Because of your age it would be very unlikely you have colon cancer. Most people that are diagnosed with colon cancer have very loose frequent stools that vary from diarrhea to constipation. Sounds like you have constipation issues. You can get a second opinion from another dr or ask for a referral colonoscopy, which I have had 2 of and they are not fun by any means. The day before is downright awful.
Question: black spot in the stool,is it cancer?please help? recently,I feel there are something wrong with my digestion.I have some symptoms like I have some black spot in my stool,my bowel habit change than usual,my stomach full of gas, sometimes I have pain in center side, lower in my abdomen.I am very worried that I have colon cancer or stomach cancer. anyone can help me,please!
Answer: some of disease can be similiar to cancer, like celiac disease, chrone disease, irritable bowel syndrome.you had better to see doctor and know about your disease.
Question: Can someone give me suggestions on my research paper?
Thesis is: Debussy's experimentation and unconventional ways have revolutionized the art of music, influecning many later composers and sparking new forms of music such as jazz
Answer: In the first place, your paper at present is all one paragraph! Yes, as the first answerer said, identify your thesis and state it clearly--and end the first paragraph there. (If the word "jazz" ends the first paragraph, it's still too long--you have an introduction almost as long as the whole body.)
The beginning is beautifully written, and it would be a shame to take out any of its evocative images. However, to help you get to the point sooner, you COULD save some of those details for a body paragraph or the conclusion. Suppose you break at "daydream and reality" and add a more concrete thesis at that point. Then you can go into the two schools of composition that Debussy participated in and influenced. You might also mention his debt to the Romantic movement.
Now for the mechanics and such:
1. Not "songs based off of," but songs drawn from" or "songs based on."
2. Something seems to have been left out of this sentence: According to One of Debussy’s teachers told him “I am not saying that what you do isn’t beautiful, but it’s theoretically absurd” (Kamien 440)
3. The past tense of "cast' is "cast"--not "casted."
4. "Debussy’s music can be understood through two important aspects of his music"--a bit repetitious? Why not "of it"?
5. "the main style of which Debussy was attributed to"--On generally attributes a quailty or characteristic or innovation to a person, or credits him for it. So reword this.
6. "Paris was at the hubbub of the revolution" I think you just mean at the hub. (Look both these words up.)
7. "different unlike ever seen before" Insert a comma before "unlike" and the word "anything" after it.
8. "viewed the paintings by the French Impressionists threatening to the “perfect” conventional form of art" Either change "viewed" to "considered" or insert "as" before "threatening."
9. Start a new paragraph with this sentence: "Debussy is generally viewed as an Impressionist, but many art historians claim that Debussy was also a Symbolist . . . . "
10. "Just like he composed music based off " Just AS he composed music based ON (This occurs again a sentence or two later.)
11. "enriched" Why past tense?
12. " Regardless of whether Debussy is seen as an Impressionist, Symbolist" Insert "a" before "Symbolist."
13.."remembered as the pioneer altered the course" "The pioneer WHO . . . ."
14. "A variety of events in Debussy’s life . . . " Start a new paragraph here.
Sorry, but I'm getting tired! In the remainder of the paper, look for logical places to begin new paragraphs. And don't say "unique to"--it's "unique among."
Question: Question for a nurse or doctor? My aunt, 49, has stage 4 colon cancer. It has metastasized in her liver, lungs and ovaries. Today she is supposed to have surgery to remove the original tumor, which is the size of a fist. She is at the Cancer Center Treatments of America in Tulsa. She has been there for two weeks w/o doing much at all, but give her pain meds. So when she said they weren't going to stay past the weekend they decided to schedule surgery. After which they are going to wait close to 3 weeks then start chemo.
My questions are:
1. After she gets the surgery will it spread faster?
2. Why are they waiting so long to do chemo?
3. Does she have much time left?
Thanks for your advice/opinions in advance!
Answer: Stage four cancer is quite advanced, as you know. It has already spread significantly. Chemo cannot be started until she heals up a bit from the surgery. The amount of time she has left can't be determined. I've seen patients go quickly, and others last longer than expected. You can help her most by giving emotional support, and supporting any decisions she makes.
Question: Could someone die from Gastric Bypass surgery? Let's say they had a hysterectomy, survived colon cancer, and has a wire mesh surrounding their stomach because it's broken and they weigh only 250 pounds, but most of that weight is centered around the belly area. Why would a doctor tell them they need Gastric Bypass, and do you think that's safe?
Answer: If I were to have any surgery for weight loss it would be the lap-band. It's a laproscopic procedure and it can be reversed. The surgery your Dr. mentioned is a big surgery and a lot of people get diarrhea or vomiting after in addition to the fact that yes, a percentage will die. The lap-band is safer.
Question: Can someone give me revisions suggestions (clarity, organization, details, order of paragraphs, etc) Thanks?
sorry for the ambiguous paragraph breaks. Thesis is: Debussy's experimentations and unconventional ways have revolutionized the art of music, influencing many later composers and sparking new forms of music such as jazz.
Answer: No one will read that amount of text on this site and I mean NO ONE..!!!

Question: How do I convince my sister that what happened wasn't her fault? Around 3AM Thursday morning we left to take my sister to the cancer center (a 3 1/2 hour drive) for her followup visit after a colon resection last week. Unfortunately, she had developed an abdominal abscess and had to stay overnight to get it drained. On the way home, I had a mild stroke, which I actually mistook for exhaustion at the time. When she got home around 11 PM Friday, our mother told her what had happened. No matter how much I point out the obvious health issues and that it is a fact of life, she thinks that taking care of her and driving to the cancer center caused it. How can I get it across that this isn't the first, probably won't be the last, and that not only is it no big deal, but that she had absolutely nothing to do with it!?
samanjel4: She still has a long healing process ahead of her, but we're expecting a full recovery for her. Aside from the infection that caused the abscess, her surgery went wonderfully. No trace of any cancer left.
Answer: Maybe, her Dr. will take the time to explain it to her. She will heal faster (and you, too) without the guilt, so maybe her Dr will help you out.
Question: SURVEY: What's the last thing you want to see in the morning prior to having your coffee? This morning while still sleep walking, I entered the last car on the train and happened to look up at Washington Hospital Center's advertisement for their work on colon and rectal cancer.....
I think I kind of gagged a little..
Tina - (no it's not me) it's only what I look like on the inside.....
Answer: another mans di-ck
Question: What does this mean Weight Results? I used a BMI calculator because I thought I was a little overweight. This is what I got:
You have a BMI of 23.83. This BMI puts you under the body classification of "Average" according to the CDC (US Center for Disease Control & Prevention).
Your risk for the following health conditions is: Very Low
Hypertension
Dyslipidemia
Type 2 diabetes
Coronary heart disease
Stroke
Gallbladder disease
Osteoarthritis
Sleep apnea
Endometrial, breast, and colon cancer
You are in the "Average" BMI range so losing lots of weight should not be your focus. What should be your focus however is staying fit, and toning your body. Many people are not overweight, but their bodies have a tendancy to get soft as they age. This does not have to be the case however, as nutritional supplements are available that can help to turn soft body mass into lean, firm skin.
----
Can someone translate that to SIMPLER understandings? Haha.
Thanks.
Answer: There are 4 categories for BMI that a person can fall under: underweight, average, overweight, and obese.
Basically, since your BMI is average, it means that you're at a healthy weight. You're not at a high risk for any of those health conditions listed, which is good. It suggests that you should stay active so that as you get older, you'll remain fit and be able maintain your healthy weight over time. You can ignore the part about nutritional supplements though.. The only thing that you should even consider taking would be a multi-vitamin.
Question: Bad stomic pain? Appendicitus? I've had a bad stomic pain for a week or two. it started in the center (my actual stomic area), and now it's moved down into my intestines, With a somewhat sharp stinging pain on the right. I THINK appendicitus Happens in a few hours, but im asking to be sure.it's getting worse instead of better, and I need to know if i should wait longer, or get it checked out. Also, i need to know what else it could be, if its been around too long to be Appendicitus. i've had trouble in the restroom, and lately (past 2 days) my intestines have been Growling. I looked up my symptoms, and the only other thing that matches is Colon Cancer, and i think im too young for that (19). it seems to hurt worse when i have a full/empty stomic, or when i need to use the restroom. Any help, Please?
Answer: Appendicitis would only hurt on the lower right hand side, not move around. You may have a blockage of the bowel, especially since you say you are having problems in the bathroom. This is very serious and you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. Go to the emergency room. NOW

Answer: Ask her if it's your fault that she has cancer. It will seem like a ridiculous question, but maybe she will grasp the concept that sh!t happens. I guess it is actually good that you were up and moving while you were afflicted with this stroke. Had you been asleep you might not have been as aware of it and who knows what could have happened.
I hope your sister kicks this cancer's butt...... and I am so glad that you are ok from your stroke!!! I wish the both of you the best of health!!
