Endometrial Cancer Stages
Question: pathophysiology of endometrial cancer stage IV with brain metastasis?
Answer: Endometrial (uterine) cancer is cancerous growth of the lining of the uterus. It mainly occurs after menopause.
Epidemiology-25% premenopausal and 75% postmenopausal. The most affected group is between 50-59.
Pathophysiology- Increase in natural estrogen levels. Histopathology is usually an endometrial adenocarcinoma. It appears as a background of endometrial hyperplasia . Tumor cells are atypical and form irregular glands with multiple lumens. The stroma is reduced.; producing back to back aspect With evolution of the disease; the myometrium, the outer lining is infiltrated.
Risk Factors:Obesity ->30lbs or 14kg.. Women with excess fats produce more estrogen. Fat converts certain hormones into a form of estrogen. Diabetes and hypertension. These conditions are usually associated with obesity. Other cancers, such as colon cancers, and breast Ca.
In Race. White women have a higher risk than black.
Nulliparity, when a woman never became pregnant, infertility, early menarche, first menstruation and late menopause. Post menopausal women who use estrogen replacement therapy.
Use of Tamoxifen, drug used for breast
cancer. This drug tends to have estrogen like effects on the uterus.
Women who use birth control pills that have a combination of estrogen and progesterone are at lesser risks. The progesterone protects the endometrium from the cancer causing effect of the estrogen.
Stages of endometrial cancer:
Endometrial carcinoma is surgically staged using the FIGO cancer staging system.
Stage IA: tumor is limited to the endometrium
Stage IB: invasion of less than half the myometrium
Stage IC: invasion of more than half the myometrium
Stage IIA: endocervical glandular involvement only
Stage IIB: cervical stromal invasion
Stage IIIA: tumor invades serosa or adnexa, or malignant peritoneal cytology
Stage IIIB: vaginal metastasis
Stage IIIC: metastasis to pelvic or para-aortic lymph nodes
Stage IVA: invasion of the bladder or bowel
Stage IVB: distant metastasis, including intraabdominal or inguinal lymph nodes
The only treatment is surgery. Abdominal Hysterectomy is recommended over vaginal hysterectomy. It affords opportunity to examine and obtin washings of abdominal cavity to detect further evidence of Ca. Lymphadenectomy or removal of pelvic and paraaortic lymph nodes is considered esp for Stage 3 and 4, where the lymph nodes are involved. Surgery with radiation is advised for Stage 1 and 2. Surgery plus chemotherapy is advised in severe cases as in Stage 3 and 4.
Survival rates:
The 5-year survival rate for endometrial cancer following appropriate treatment is:
75% to 95% for stage 1
50% for stage 2
30% for stage 3
less than 5% for stage 4
The picture here is very dim if the disease is not detected early. So regular check ups with pap smears is recommended. I hope you don't have this dreaded and awful disease. But if you do or know somebody who does, don't delay, go for surgery and chemotherapy. If it has metastasized to the brain, that means other organs are also affected.
Question: Endometrial cancer? My mom was recently diagnosed with Endometrial cancer (cancer in the uterus) so she is having surgery to remove her uturus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, lymph nodes, etc.
Luckily they caught it in stage 1 and the doctor at the time said that since it was caught so early he beleived there was a near 100% chance to get rid of it all.
This is all at the Mayo clinic, perhaps the greatest hospital(s) in the world. I began reading up on endometrial cancer so I could know what to expect for her, and in it its saying if caught in stage one, you have about a 5 year survival rate. How can this be?? Does this honestly mean my mom is dieing in 5 years or so, even though they caught it right away and the doctor beleives there is a near 100% chance to get rid of it?
Thanks for any insight on this matter.
Answer: Please read this, and the web page first cited, in detail.
Its a very long read, but it could save your mothers life.
I have always believed that the mainstream medical industry is not interested in finding a cure for cancer because it makes too much profit with its present barbarous methods.
Eventually, I came across a detailed report which agreed with my findings, and I have included it in my web page at
http://dgwa1.fortunecity.com/body/cancer.html
By reading this report, you will also convince yourself that it is best to ignore the mainstream cancer industry, and seek alternative cures. Also you should bear in mind that the medical industry will do anything to protect its profitable position, including disparaging alternative healers or even creating bogus court cases.
I believe that cancer is a whole body thing, which in 80 percent of cases manifests itself by producing symptoms in the weaker parts of the body, and therefore appearing localised. It is this treatment of symptoms instead of cause which creates the profitable, yet non-successful approach of mainstream medicine.
Some cures are listed on the web page too.
It is therefore obvious that a holistic approach is required, based on cleansing, diet, exercise and debugging.
CLEANSING
The best way of cleansing is to fast.

but if a patient is too weak for that, or does not fancy the idea, then alternative cleanses are available.

DIET,
The best diet is vegetarian, avoiding all processed, frozen or micro-waved foods and drinks, and based on fresh fruit, fresh vegetables - preferably organic, nuts and seeds. Drinks should be clean water or freshly squeezed orange juice.
Many researchers promote the benefits of vitamin B17 as a healer. this can be found in the following foods:
Apple seeds, alfalfa sprouts, apricot kernels, bamboo shoots, barley, beet tops, bitter almond, blackberries, boysenberries, brewer’s yeast, brown rice, buckwheat, cashews, cherry kernels, cranberries, currants, fava beans, flax seeds, garbanzo beans, gooseberries, huckleberries, lentils, lima beans, linseed meat, loganberries, macadamia nuts, millet, millet seed, peach kernels, pecans, plum kernels, quince, raspberries, sorghum cane syrup, spinach, sprouts (alfalfa, lentil, mung bean, buckwheat, garbanzo), strawberries, walnuts, watercress, yams.
A commercial preparation of B17 is available called Laetrile.
EXERCISE
Exercise should be sufficient to create a sweat, but not sufficient to make you gasp for breath or feel over-tired. About one hours exercise every day is best.
DEBUGGING
There are various theories about how bugs create cancer.
Hulda Clark suggests that parasites are the cause, and that they can be disposed of by using a zapper.

Question: why does it list a 5 year survival rate for stage 1 of endometrial cancer? this is when all your woman parts are out.after a complete hysterectomy.I thought once they got it you could live for years.any one know?
Answer: I understand it to mean that after 5 years of being disease free you are considered cured. So they check you every 3 months for two years and then every 6 months for the next 3 years. So 5 year survival rate indicates the percentage of people that live to the 5 year mark and are therefore considered cured if disease free for that entire time.
Question: Endometrial Cancer Survival after the surgery? My mother was diagnosed with stage 2 endometrial cancer and has undergone a major surgery on the 27th March 2006. I have been looking up info on survival rate, and all I run across is the 5 year survival rate, which is quite good. But what I am really looking for is some answers in real world terms. Does the 5 year rate mean she is likely to only live 5 years after her surgery? What are her chances of living out a full, natural life? She is only 53 and in good health, except for diabetes. I know no one can tell me how long she will live or if this caner will kill her, but there must be statistics out there on how long these cancer patients typically live. Please help me with answers.
Answer: 5 yr survival is given because all the follow up data of patients is analysed at 2, 3,5 yrs etc, what is assumed is that patient is cured if disease is dormant for five years,.. of course it can recur but chance is less. Did she recieve Radiotherapy? Do answer me
Keep the faith
P.S.: for ladies endometrial cancer is a really fvorable cancer to get
Question: How serious is endometrial cancer? My grandma has endometrial cancer and I am so sad about it that when I even think about it I start to cry. Everyone in my family seems to be ok about it because she's only in the first stages of it. She doesn't know that she has it and everyone seems to think it will be fine after her surgery. Am I overreacting? Is this not as life threatening as I think?
Answer: endometrial cancer is frequently cured just by surgery.
as far as being lucky with cancer, this is about as good as it gets. Of course, it would be good if your grandmother was also in good health, but if this has not spread, she is in pretty good shape. (which early stages kind of implies)
Is this not as life threatening as I think?
well, no cancer is cause for celebration, but it probably won't kill her.
she will be in the hospital for surgery - maybe 4 or 5 days.
then home. they will do checkups on her about every 3 months.
this one is NOT as life threatening as most other cancers.
but she shouldn't delay surgery.
and you can worry less.
Question: HELP! STAGE 4 endometrial cancer? How long does a person have to live with severe stage 4 endometrial cancer?
If the person has a hysterectomy, and the cancer spreads to the lymph nodes in the pelvic area, only a few months later, is that severe? Does it mean it already spread to other parts of the body?
My grandmother is on 2mg of morphine every4 hrs and 8 ml of decadrone every 24 hrs due to severe pain in the leg. She is also receiving radiation treatment. Before the decadrone, she was in such bad shape (no appetite, constant pain, uncontrollable bowel movements), and the doctor predicted only 3 months. Then they put her on decadrone, and she looks like a different person, she regained her appetite and she has hardly any pain, but they have to keep her on the morphine regardless. I dont know what to think anymore, i dont know if i should be preparing myself for anything because she seems like shes fine, but i know it doesnt mean the cancer is gone. Please, any feedback is greatly appreciated. thanks!
Answer: She might be in remission for a while. I have known someone to live with Stage 4 for another 8 months and then again someone very dear to me lived for10 months. You never can tell. The awful thing is, when you think they get better, they really don't. It's like the last "hurray" before the end. For instance, my sister who went through surgery was doing poorly, then the next day she sat up, gave my nephew a shopping list to have all the things she needs when she gets home, ask the hospital for a sharper knife to cut her bread and the next morning she was dead. I mentioned this to my daughter, she's a nurse and she said they see that at the hospital all the time with cancer patients. The family thinks they're doing great and then they're gone.
Sorry about your Grandma! I feel for you.
Question: My mom has been diagnosed with endometrial cancer..? No cancer is a cause for a celebration.. but the doctors said Endometrial cancer is highly cureable. My mom is only in stage 1, she's only 31 she's pretty healthy despite the cancer... I just really want to hear from people who have had this cancer, or know survivors. I researched it and read that this cancer can be cured with a hysterectomy. I know what a hysterectomy is but how long will my mom be in the hospital for? Any information you have about this please do tell. :] thanks everyone<3
Answer: Hey :). I honestly do not know much about endometrial cancer. I saw that no one answered so I figured I would give you as much information as I can. My mother had a hysterectomy when I was in highschool. She had fibroids. But she was only in the hospital for one night. I know that doesn't help much but I want you to stay strong and have trust that your mother will make it through this. She is lucky to have a worried, caring daughter!
Question: Is it safe to have a baby if you have stage 1 uterine cancer? or " endometrial " cancer. my mom is 32 has been to a specialist who recommended a full hysterectomy. ..my step dad of 6years does not have any kids of his own and has asked her to get a 2nd opinion. My mom is looking for another specialist :/ I'm scared if my mom gets pregnant i'll lose her.. how safe is it? do you think it's selfish of him wanting her to put her life at risk just to have a baby of his own?
Answer: having a baby while having any sort of disorder with the reproductive organs involved in making and growing the baby is dangerous. it can cause miscarriages or serious health problems throughout the pregnancy. it really should be avoided. he should be understanding of the health risks involved and if pregnancy isn't a possibility there are 1000s of children that can be adopted.
Question: Complex Endometrial Hyperplasia with Atyipia = Cancer cells? I was recently diagnosed with Complex Endometrial Hyperplasia with Atyipia = Cancer cells and was urged to have a Hystorectomy. They said I had 6mons to a year to have full stage 2 cancer. Should I still be worried even after I had a hysterectomy?
Answer: I'm sorry, I don't know that much about the type of cancer you have, but I do know that anytime you have a gynecologic cancer there is always a chance that it can recur, even in a different place. Its still important for you to continue to have pap smears (vaginal cuff smears) after the hysterectomy because there are other types of cancers that can occur. I run a gynecologic cancer support group, maybe some of our members can help you out.
Question: Do you know of any cures for cancer? any kind of cancer especially endometrial (uterine) cancer.? my grandmother was recently diagnosis with stage 4 cancer. She told me about a week ago but it didnt start 2 hit me until i started writing this... actually writing these words...this is so CRAZY! i know there are natural cures out there. any help finding a cure would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Some of your comments have been incredibly helpful and i thank you so much for responding!!! But some of you seems as though your knowledge is limited to DRUGS! POISONS! if all that you know about is drugs fine but im not interested in that and hopefully will not need to know about it! I know for a fact that there are NATURAL cures for many if not all health problems!!! ive used some myself!
Answer: hum im sorry if I had a cure for cancer that really was a cure I would be on a plane to Stokholm to get my Nobel Peace Prize-and so would anyone else. There are natural ways to TRY to PREVENT cancer but otherwise nothing for a cure. I'm so sorry but the best thing you can do now is enjoy the time with your grandmother now. Hug her, tell her that you love her. Do all the things you used to do with her when you were younger. And hope that the chemo helps and it goes in remmission for awhile.
Question: What kinds of life insurance cover funeral costs? I was just diagnosed with endometrial cancer and the doctor is sure I'm just in Stage II but I still have to have a colonoscopy to make sure it's not spread. Plus, I have something wrong with my heart. Is there any life insurance that would pay for my funeral in case I might die? I am single and don't want a "welfare" funeral or my family being obligated to pay for my burial.
Answer: Hello, I am sorry to hear of your situation. I have just seen "burial insurance" while getting a quote from this page http://gsx1.com/InsuranceComparison.html so perhaps this is what you are looking for.
I do hope it will never come to it and that you will recover from this and live to be 100 years old.
My heart goes out to you.
Question: cancer of the endometrium? Three weeks ago I had a radical hyseterctomy, following a diagnosis of endometrial cancer. I did not have an MRI scan (it was cancelled; scanner broken). I am now waiting for the histology/staging. (cells graded at three).
And waiting. How long is the average 'wait'. Asked last week about results,
told there was a delay.
Answer: That must be very frustrating, and an agonising wait. Perhaps you should write a letter to your local NHS Trust, asking for an explanation of the delay and requesting that your lab results be chased up asap. The anxiety caused by all this waiting cannot be helpful for your state-of-mind. I certainly wouldn't accept lame excuses as an explanation; push for results.
Question: How common is triple primary cancer and what are the risk factors? hi, I was recently diagnosed with a 1 cm appendiceal carcinoid, stage 1C endometrial adenocarcinoma of both ovaries, and stage 1a endometrial adenocarcinoma of the endometrium. My doctor said these were all original cancers and did not spread one to the other. Other than being obese, I am an otherwise healthy 29 year old, aside from having menstrual issues. I do not smoke, drink, or use drugs. I know we don't really know what causes cancer for certain but isn't my diagnosis a bit unusual? I am trying to get my head around it and understand as much as I possibly can how this happened. I would love to find others with a similar diagnosis of multiple cancers.
I have aunts who had breast and colon cancer but that was in late 40's and 50's...I have no family history of anyone my age with cancer in the family. I have never worked in a high risk occupation and can't think of anything I might have been exposed to so I am assuming it gas to be genetic.
lol little typo there *has
I just realized a goof... the pathology report says endometrioid adenocarcinoma (not endometrial)
It is confusing because both the uterus and the ovaries are endometrioid adenocarcinoma but the oncologist assured me they are synchronous and not one that spread to the other...
Answer: This is probably more unusual than you think. Triple primaries diagnosed at the same time do not happen often and is a rarity in itself. I don’t know the exact numbers, but I’ve seen maybe 2 this year. Also very strange is to have any of these cancers at your age. Only 3-4% of endometrial cancers occur in patients under 35. About 1% of cancers that occur in the colon/appendix are carcinoid and about 1.5% of all colon/appendiceal cancers occur in patients under 35. I don’t understand the endometrial adenocarcinoma in the ovaries. Have you been sent to an oncologist yet? You may need genetic testing if there are any other cancers in your family at an early age.
Question: my mother was diagnosed with multiple fybrooids? Her ultra sounds she has endometrial thickness is 5.4mm and smooth. Right ovary measure is 25mm and left ovary is 29mm. Conclusion of ultra is bulky uterus with multiple fibroids.
h
Histopathology report:
GROSS EXAMINATION. SPECIMEN CONTAINER IS LABLED WITH PATIENTS RELEVANT INFORMATION RECEIVED IN FORMALIN IS LIGHT BROWN PIECE OF TISSUE MEASURING 2*1*1 CM. sUBMITTED AS SUCH IN c-1.
mICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION. tHE SCETIONS REVEAL EARLY SECRETORY PHASE ENDOMETRIUM tHE STROMA HAS MODERATE INFILTRATION BY LYMPHOCYTES AND PLASMA CELLS.
DIAGNOSIS: EARLY SECRETORY ENDOMETRIUM WITH CHRONIC ENDOMETRITIS.
She is taking injection once a month for three months to shrink the fibroids. I think the name of injection is lukrine depot S/C.
Is this treatment for this paticular condition?
Is this something like cancer or it is cancer or early stages of cancer.
Does this hitopathology report sings of cancer or not cancer?
Answer: I'm not a Dr/medical professional either...just a woman whose original diagnosis was uterine fibroids. Well it wasn't just fibroids, it was a rare form of uterine cancer which by the time they did some simple blood work, it was stage 4. I am on a drug called Lupron-Depo (which sounds similar to what your mom is on as well). Lupron can have some nasty side effects...the worst of which fir me was hair loss (thinning) and hot flashes like you wouldn't believe,,,but it does work quite well. I would ask for blood tests for tumor markers (one is CA-125 usually it is for ovarian cancer, but I have a rare cancer and CA-125 is indicative). Anyway..if you and your mom are worried, please please get second and 3rd opinions. If I had maybe I would have only been stage 1 or 2 when they found it.
