Question: When Morphine is given to someone with a terminal illness, does it speed up the dying process? I have a loved one who has advanced esophageal cancer, the doctors say, all that's left to do now is to make her more comfortable. She is being given Morphine for the pain. Someone told me this makes the body shut down more quickly. Does anyone know if this is really true? I can't find that info in my online research of the drug! Please help if you are familiar with this situation, or if you have medical knowledge.
Answer: morphine is just allowing comfort. The only way morphine would shut down the body is if the doctors increased the dosage to a toxic level. Doctors are not going to administer drugs to kill someone, it's against the law. Without the morphine your loved one would be in terrible agony. I'm enclosing a link where you can light a candle and say a prayer for your loved one.

Research has proven that carbonated beverages are bad for the health. Cancer is one of the many illnesses these beverages cause. Because carbonated beverages are harmful to the human health, people must eliminate them from their meals.
A carbonated drink is a beverage that has carbon dioxide dissolved in it. This is done to improve its taste, texture, or both. All carbonated beverages and carbonated plain water have this problem.
Carbonated beverages cause many serious illnesses. They increase esophageal cancer. Researchers at Tata hospital found a strong correlation between the consumption of carbonated drinks and the increased rate of esophageal cancer. Due to the large consumption of these drinks, the rate of esophageal cancer has increased.
In addition, carbonated beverages may increase the risk of osteoporosis. Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan found that the phosphoric acid in these beverages promotes calcium loss. This acid binds to the calcium in the human body, and prevents its absorption into the blood. They also found that caffeine in carbonated beverages decreases bone mass, and increases the risk of hip fracture.
New research at the University of Cincinnati revealed that carbonated beverages cause diabetes and weight gain. Moreover, they increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. This risk is associated with people who drink carbonated beverages sweetened with either sugar or fructose.
The substances found in these beverages are very harmful. Most of these substances are added to many of the most popular carbonated beverages. For example, caffeine is a mildly addictive, stimulant drug. And artificial colorings promote deficit hyperactivity disorder in some children. Other colorings in carbonated beverages cause hives, asthma, and other allergic reactions. Also the sugar content of carbonated beverages contributes to problems with teeth.
It is wise to eliminate carbonated beverages. They should be substituted with healthier drinks, although people love them for their affordability and good taste. In addition, many available drinks will improve health instead of cause illness.
Even though carbonated beverages taste good, people must eliminate them from their meals. Being effected with any of the diseases previously mentioned is an issue people should consider. Furthermore, carbonated beverages can easily be substituted with healthier drinks. For example, fruit juice and milk are not only affordable and taste good, but they are also healthy. Because carbonated beverages cause many serious illnesses, individuals of all ages must eliminate them from their meals.

Carbonated Drinks and Human Health
Research has proven that carbonated beverages are bad for the health. These beverages remain one of the major nutritional reasons why most people suffer from various health problems. That is why people should eliminate carbonated beverages from their meals.
A carbonated drink is a beverage that has had carbon dioxide dissolved into it for some reason, most often to improve the taste, texture, or both. This includes all carbonated beverages and carbonated plain water. The various substances in carbonated beverages compound the problem.

. Due to the large consumption of these drinks, rates of esophageal cancer have increased more than five hundred and seventy percent.
Nevertheless, carbonated beverages may increase the risk of Osteoporosis. The University of
Saskatchewan researchers have found that phosphoric acid in these beverages promote calcium loss. Phosphorus binds to the calcium in the human body, and prevents its absorption into the blood. Caffeine in carbonated beverages decrease bone mass and increase the risk of hip fracture. In a study of 9,615 women over the age of sixty-five, those who drank carbonated beverages had a twenty to thirty percent increased risk of hip fracture.
In addition, a University of Cincinnati study provides new evidence that drinking large amounts of carbonated beverages adds body fat. These beverages provide large amounts of sugar.
Besides the sugar and acids, other ingredients are of concern. Caffeine, which is added to many of the most popular carbonated
beverages, is a mildly addictive, stimulant drug. Artificial colorings, promote deficit hyperactivity disorder in some children. Other colorings in carbonated beverages cause hives, asthma, and other allergic reactions.
Although people prefer to drink these beverages because they are affordable, taste sweet and are sold everywhere, it is wise if substitute them for a healthier drink. Because, unlike healthy drinks, carbonated beverages cause serious illnesses. Drinking them causes cancer, bone fracture and encourages weight gain.
Even though carbonated beverages taste sweet, people must eliminate them from their diets. Being effected with any of the diseases previously mentioned is an issue everyone should consider. In addition, carbonated drinks can easily be substituted with other healthier drinks. For example, fruit juice and milk, are not only affordable and taste good, but they are also healthy as well. Moreover, because carbonated beverages cause cancer, osteoporosis, and
and weight gain, individuals of all ages should eliminate them from their meals.

Answer: In general content there is nothing wrong with the essay, except that for the most part it is anecdotal in that it refers to research but does not summarize the research to hammer home the points made. It is not here possible for me to judge further, as you do not state the criteria of the question setter or the purpose for which the report is written. It also focuses soley on negative effects. There are also positive attributes to including carbonated drinks in diets. It also does not make distinctions between carbonated drinks and sweeteners verses sugars which is an entirely different hehealthth argument. There is also no balance made between what would be considered a healthy quantity and that which would not. The essay also assumes al the research to be wholly negative without giving the reader any evidence to make their own judgments. However you write a good account
Question: Please read it to the last word? Long Life May Be Your Cup of (Green) Tea
By Kathleen Doheny
HealthDay Reporter
Adults who drank at least five cups of the brew daily had a lower risk of cardiovascular death and death from all other causes, except cancer, than those who drank less than one cup a day, according to a research team from Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan.
They published their findings in the Sept. 13 Journal of the American Medical Association.
While many laboratory and animal studies have suggested that green tea protects against illness, its effect in humans has been less clear.
"Only four epidemiological studies [in people] have been conducted to date," said lead researcher Dr. Shinichi Kuriyama.
And those studies "included small sample sizes, and the results were inconsistent," he added.
However, "our study includes far more participants -- 40,350 -- than the previous studies," Kuriyama said. "I think our study would provide strong evidence regarding the benefits of drinking green tea in humans on cardiovascular disease."
"To be more definitive, we need a randomized trial," said Chyu. He said his lab's animal studies have found that green tea does have cardio-protective effects, especially if consumption commences before the onset of hardening of the arteries.
For those who might want to "go green" for health, "I'd probably take a neutral position right now," Chyu said.
"Tea is not harmful, that we know," he said. If you're a tea drinker, continue, Chyu said. If not, be aware that the habit probably needs to be long-term before you reap any real health benefit.
"I don't think I'd recommend people drink large quantities of green tea," added Dr. Robert Vogel, professor of medicine at the University of Maryland Medical School in College Park.
Like Chyu, he stressed that the study only showed an association, not any direct cause-and-effect. However, he said green tea consumption is certainly preferable to drinking beverages such as non-diet sodas, which are loaded with sugar.
U.S. government health agencies have so far backed away from recommending green tea as a health aid. Earlier this year, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration review of the available data found no evidence to support companies' claims that green tea eases cardiovascular risk. The agency released a similar statement in 2005, noting a lack of evidence that green tea fights cancer.
Experts at the U.S. National Cancer Institute have also reviewed data from human trials focused on tea's cancer-preventing effects but said the studies offered conflicting results. The NCI is funding its own rigorous studies on the subject, however.
The study's lead author was much more enthusiastic.
"I personally drink green tea, two or three cups per day," Kuriyama said. "On the basis of our study results, I would like to recommend the drinking of green tea at least one cup per day."
But Kuriyama added that the tea should not be steaming hot. "Drinking green tea at high temperature may be associated with increased risk of esophageal cancer and mortality," he said, citing two published studies.

Question: Currently in the middle of a huge transformation as a Christian, Need help Spiritually and Mentally? Hello. My name is Joel and I am 18 years old. I am currently under a huge transformation - Spiritually, Mentally, and even physically. I thought I’d tell someone exactly what my situation is to get a second opinion on it and to scrap up some extra help from other Christians out there. Anyways here is my story:
About 1 year ago I was really interested in God, constantly doing research on Christianity. I had then accepted Christ into my heart but I had made a mistake by keeping it secret from my family... which doesn’t make too much sense considering my entire Family is Christian. Anyways, consequently from keeping it a secret, I was reading the bible one day and remember thinking that words are very powerful and meaningful. Since I was having a difficult time with self control I had said something out loud in which I regret with my life. I had said "I like the presence of the devil". As a result I felt like I had become possessed and then started having obsessive, uncontrollable evil thoughts like worshipping the devil in my head. (By the way this is during the summer just before grade 12) Anyways, after keeping all this a secret for nearly a year I had finally told my dad what had happened and we said a prayer out loud to remove a spirit that may have been clinging on to me. Shortly after this, I ended up Giving up my "Word of Warcraft" addiction as it took over my life, I gave up smoking cigarettes which I abused along with marijuana (Also abused).I ended up dropping out of school because 1.) I was far behind in my grades, 2.)I had to stop hanging out with friends whom were a bad influence on me. So my life had come to a hault, with no friends, no school, with nothing to do. Everything gone within a week. This has affected me spiritually, mentally, and physically as I had literally been doing nothing for almost 3 months straight. Also at the time my dad got diagnosed with esophageal cancer. This was hard because I couldn’t imagine my life with my dad dying as I am going through a huge transformation. But God has healed him and I praise god for that.
Anyways I had become extremely anti social with everyone, I did not know who I was anymore, I was emotionally dead, and still kind of am, and physically dead. My body’s response to a sudden hault in everything has been twitches all over my body and anxiety. Anyways at this time I am looking for a job, and will be taking a math 30 course sometime in September. Hopefully this will slowly renew my mind. I am also currently still experiencing obsessive evil thoughts about Satan and am concerned they will never go away. I want to believe they will but it’s hard. Anyways I wrote all this to share in hope of a response that will support, encourage and give ideas towards my renewing of my mind. Any advice in terms of reconnecting with God, prayer... anything.
Thanks for reading and God Bless.
Answer: You must take this criticism in the right spirit, from a fellow Christian, you got to stop by such a Drama King! Most of what you have just told is drama, drama, drama! It is your perception and attitude towards these things that are the real problem. Another Christian in your situation could react much more rationally about it all. It is largely in your head!
I think you are too obsessed with yourself. "I" is littered all over your explanation there. You are just too self-absorbed.
I think as far as saying, "I like the presence of the devil," and evil spirits be attached to you....I think there needs to be more proof of it than what you are providing. It sounds exactly what I said just emotionally unstability and self-obsession. I think you thrive on problems, drama, and getting attention.
I have to shoot straight with you. If you don't hear this and recognize you will just stay exactly where you are, in the problem you believe you are in.
So, in your new life as a Christians it is time to get re-focused. You need to give your thoughts off yourself and start fixing them more on Jesus, the things of God, and other people.
The Bible states we should think of others more highly than ourselves. We are to love one another. Are you seeing how you can help others? Do you focus on others need more than your own? Perhaps there is some way you can serve at your church. Even though others may seem rude/mean it doesn't matter. We are to love are enemies even. So, find the love in your heart for others. Serve others in big ways as well as small ways (like just being polite and courteous). Use love to overcome hate, use good to overcome evil.
Fix your thoughts on Christ. Start listening to Christian music that you like. Read the Bible daily! Go to church consistently. Be involved in your church. Even go on some of the extra times like Wednesday. Have your thoughts focus around Jesus and the things of God. Memorize Scripture. Pray daily. Pray largely about others and focus on praising God.
I think these are basic things for you to do. You are just too much into you. You need to be into other people and you need to be into Jesus. Just step back from yourself and see the Truth I am telling you. I think you are a good person. I think you do good and want to do more good. I think you want to be a good Christian and serve God. You just need a wake up call, here it is! We all need wake up calls. God bless you in your new life in Christ and I pray for His guidance and wisdom upon your life.
Question: FDA Vs. Natural medicine? Ok. I was reading on Te Mate and notice something that I didn't really like..
OK it said all the good stuff about Te Mate, is natural, you can lower weight and is better than coffee for people.. It even says that it prevents Oral cancer.
Then it said that the International agency for research on Cancer confirmd that it does fight oral cancer.
But then it says: Yerba maté consumption has been associated with increased incidence of bladder, esophageal, oral, squamous cell of the head and neck, and lung cancer.
However I read the info in Spanish and it said nothing about that... The reviews are normally good on the dang product...
Is it that the FDA are against Natural medicine and want for people to be freakin' addicted to their freakin' lab drugs?!
Look there is a incredibly good product in the natural store that is made of fruits it has all the vitamins and all the good stuff the body needs in one same bottle. It is perfect for the body defense system and has no side effect, nothing! Because is just fruits!
I was drinking it and I felt incredibly energized and very good I felt like a bum after winning the lottery! Superman was a child next to me, I felt really good, and didn't get sick!
But the product! Is not FDA approved... I'm like WTH! This is natural and it WORKS! without side effects! Why isn't it approved?!
Then I read in a forum something that kind of made sense, this guy said that the reason is because if natural Medicine ever surpassed lab medicine a lot of people (pharmaceutical companies) will lose a lot of money and natural medicines will be better funded and they might find the cures to great deceases (Cancer, Aids, etc.) And what happens if those deceases are cured? No more income, they can't use the sickness to make prophet with their little pills to help people live with it.
You have aids they give you pills to LIVE with it!
If the cure is found, what happens?! The people that had it are cure and they wont need to go back to get more pills! The decease vanishes and there is a lost to the company.
Is it that the FDA are against Natural medicine and want for people to be freakin' addicted to their freakin' lab drugs?!
I really think so, I think they are corrupt..
I think the companies pay them to keep shut and not to approve medicines so people get skeptic and think it twice before buying..
"Is not FDA approved, I wont buy it"
Answer: this is true my friend, some inventors have been harassed in the past. I like an agency called the USDA, which certifies food as organic or not,but they do not control restricting powers like the f d a.
