Heart Cancer Research
Question: Why do we spend more money on heart or cancer research than on childhood illnesses?
Answer: for one, childhood illness has been researched and become treatable to a greater extent that relative mysteries like cancer. on a statistical scale, more people die because of heart disease and cancer than something like streptacoccus or measles so the medical community has more of an obligation (triage) to focus on those
Question: What are the best organizations to donate for heart disease and lung cancer research?
Answer: Vivisection will never lead to the reduction of human suffering.
In the eyes of Nature animals have the same rights as humans and some are more advanced Souls than many humans.
Think twice about encouraging and supporting vivisection.
Question: Why do we spend 97% more on AIDS research than Heart Disease and 84% more than cancer research when AIDS is .. totally preventable through abstinence and not being an intravenous drug user?
sheets ready? what does that mean just asking a honest question, let me guess your a lib thats what you all do when you have no rebuttal name call.MY source is A CDC story that was read on a talk radio show google funding for AIDS and heart disease and cancer
Jack you say stop eating for heart disease why cant gay people practice safe sex and drug users at least use clean needles? IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK AND YOU ALSO FAILED TO ADDRESS NO CURE FOR CANCER
BLAH BLAH BLAH come on people AIDS thru blood transfusions? hardly ever happens And sorry you can still get heart disease if you run eat properly.Funny how you libs are so quick to belitte people who eat too much but have much sympathy for homosexuals who get AIDS from unsafe sex
good night had enough from all of you uneducated people the question is legit i have no beef with gay people just a honest question that i guess hit a nerve with the libs once again
just had to respond to this one no help for people suffering from aids? MAGIC JOHNSON ANYONE?
AIDS IS THE FIRST POLITICALLY CORECT DISEASE THATS THE ONLY REASON I CAN THINK OF
Everyone should question this, this is not a politically oriented question Dems and Repubs should wonder why our donations and taxes are spent this way
SOME OF YOU DONT GET THE POINT LET ME REITERATE ONE MORE TIME AIDS IS TOTALLY PREVENTABLE CANCER AND HEART DISEASE IS NOT EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN LESSEN THE CHANCES OF GETTING IT THROUGH PROPER DIET AND EXERSISE MANY PEOPLE ARE GENETICALLY PREDISPOSED TO GETTING CANCER AND HEART DISEASE,HENCE YOUNG PEOPLE OLD PEOPLE MIDDLE AGED PEOPLE NO ONE IS PREDISPOSED TO GETTING AIDS UNLESS THEY DO THINGS THAT ARE KNOWN TO CAUSE IT DO YOU UNDERSTAND KNOW?
Blonde why do you assume i dont want any money to go to AIDS research are you trying to make your argument sound better ? Look all i am saying is Heart disease and Cancer kill way many more people then AIDS ,and yes i am aware that in the early 80's some people got AIDS thru transfusions
Answer: The reason for such expenditures is because AIDS is a political disease. I say political because there is a strong lobby pushing for government money to spend on this disease. And like you pointed, preventable through abstinence and not doing the intravenous drugs.
Question: Could Aides,Cancer,Malaria,Heart disease etc. be erased with enough research money? Does the developing world really want to end these diseases? With Population of the world reaching all time highs? Something to think about.
Answer: They can be erased with enough money and enough time. Regardless of how much money is pledged to research, however, even with the best equipment and the newest cell lines available, it takes time to figure out different patterns of the disease and proper antidotes to these. I think that everyone really wants to end these diseases, but there are few people in the world who actually have the knowledge, money and time to do the research. We can raise all the money in the world, but if we don't have enough scientists who know how to execute the particular experiements and trials, we won't get anything accomplished.
Question: Do the majority of heart attack victims deserve to have heart disease? Bearing in mind that heart disease is generally caused by smoking, bad diet, lack of excercise etc. and can, in most cases, be avoided. I give generously to a number of charities including The Heart foundation, Save the Children and Cancer Research and I need to drop one of them due to a lack of funds; I am becoming a charity. Is giving to the heart foundation a waste of time because people wont help themselves? It's not like breast cancer, this is unavoidable to some woman no matter how they live their lives.
Answer: You have a valid point. In fact a similar system may be implemented on health insurance premiums. I certainly think people should be held accountable for being fat, without, necessarily saying that they d e s e r v e to have heart disease.
Question: anybody want to donate money to research for to get rid of breast cancer, bird flu,or the american heart? if yes click on this please http://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=201503&supId=150193250
Answer: Yes I would like to donate money if I had some
Question: Cancer research donation? I would like to make a donation on my grandmother's behalf to cancer research for her birthday, as it is a charity very close to her heart.
I was wondering, if I donate, is there an option for me to recieve a card saying that they have recieved this donation on her behalf? I would like something material for her to prove that I have done it.
Answer: We have always received a card back from any cancer organization we have supported thanking us for the donation. In our case it is "In Memory . . ." . .but I know that you can also donate "In Honor . ." of a survivor. Very sweet of you to do this for your grandmother.
We have donated to "The Make a Wish Foundation" , "The Ronald McDonald House Charities", " The Children's Miracle Network", "American Cancer Society", "Sarcoma Alliance", our local "Childrens Cancer Clinic" and "CureSearch for Childhood Cancer". And, all have sent cards.
Question: Would you be more likely to donate to Cancer Research or Domestic Violence? I'm planning a sky dive in aid of charity next spring.
I usually hold events that are for Cancer Research, but I want to do domestic violence.
I was affected by it myself, and know a lot of women (and one or two men)that have been victims to so its something clsoe to my heart.
But a lot of people have stigma against DV, so am worried about not raising enough.
Also Cancer affects so many, I'm more liekly to get better awareness.
OR do you think I should raise for both, and hope that people see the urgency?
Thanks for you answers...
I'm not thinking about which one will make me look good, I couldnt care less about how I look! Lol.
But for this particular event I need to raise a certain amount by a certain time, that way they will not charge me. Meaning I can donate what I was paying for the dive to the charity.
I also am not sure if I can do it for both with the methd I am using...so will have to look into doing others...pfft.
Answer: I think that as a woman I would donate my time and money to domestic Violence. It is a very good cause and is in so much need of funds and recognition. Good luck with your endeavours and with which ever you choose.
Question: Any doctors or anyone who can tell me about cancer? I am researching cancer and need to know well, everything I can about it. Causes, how to prevent it, what is being done and has been done to find a cure, anything you could give me would be great. I am working towards being a nurse and the subject of finding a cure for cancer has really been on my heart. I recently lost my grandfather to this terribly disease. ANYthing you could tell me would be a lot of help and would be appreciated more than you can image.
Answer: Hello Rose:
Ok there are many forms of cancer and many reasons to have it so just one type will not help you with your research.
Over the past 35 years there has been so much research on cancer
but the more we learn the more we need to know.
Ok Leukemia there are over 100 types of leukemia alone some are
adult onset and others are child hood leukemia's.
Than Lung cancer there are types like small cell carcinoma than there
is mesothelomia and many other types. From smoking to pollution
to genetics to fiberglass.
Breast cancer is another one there are more then one type of breast
cancer and more than one cause from genetic to a injury such as a
injury that causes a bruise that the cancer migrates to.
The one thing that all cancer has in common is the smaller the cell
the faster it spreads and the harder it is to stop it.
The larger the cells the slower it grows and the easier it is to stop.
This is one thing that all of the doctors and scientists all have noticed.
They have also notice that tumors are heat sensitive but how to get the
heat in the tumor with out damaging the organ is the big question.
Radiation generates heat but it sometimes causes other problems that
are as bad as the cancer.
I have been learning about cancer since I got it 32 years ago. I have seen so many new things but there are still more questions.
This is why I became a nurse. So if you are near Stanford University
than you are near where I started.
Good luck and there are so many answers to the question.
Question: The effect of being overweight on the following conditions; heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, arthritus? The effect of being overweight on the following conditions; heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, arthritus.
for each of the 4 headings - could you give me a little description because researching me is giving a long passage each! i just need a nice, detailed but not dragging description.
PLEASE HELP!
10 POINTS!
thanks in advance
xxxxxx
Answer: Being overweight is caused by a problem with the balance of input and output, rather than simply calorie intake. Usually not only too high a calorie intake, but too low a calorie expenditure,ie not enough exercise.
Weight increase eventually puts a strain on and damages weight bearing joints. It is NOT on its own an isolated risk factor for heart disease. However most, but not all, obese patients take little exercise, which is linked to increased risk of heart disease. For reasons at present unclear obesity is linked with a modest increase in the risk of most cancers.Obesity, together with increased intake of simple sugars increases insulin resistance which leads to type 2 diabetes.
Question: Whats your opinion on Mr Bush blocking stem cell research because its "immoral"? First of all what exactly is immoral about it and second, who cares if something thats immoral could save MILLIONS of lifes?
Stem cell research could cure cancer, heart disease, diabetes, parkinsons and even aids.
Someone needs to sort him out.
Answer: We have a scary situation on our hands! We have an Administration which is the absolute worst in my memory. I was born when Calvin Coolidge was President, and I have survived some Administrations that would make your blood run cold. NONE like this one .George managed to get us into an unnecessary war, has the blood of 3000 plus innocent men and women on his hands, will bankrupt America with a 9-10 Trillion dollar debt that our great great grandchildren will probably have to pay off; has made the USA one of the most disliked countries in the world; has left a legacy of defeat and is the only University graduate who cannot string a sentence together and deliver it without a script. Why would we think that he would permit science to go forward with stem cell research which could help mankind , by curing diseases that currently kill millions of people around the world?
I will tell you a secret. I am 84 years old, and I hang my head in shame because I voted for this idiot.
Question: Is more government (tax payer) funding really needed for aids research? Latest "stimulus bill has funding for more aids research. Is this really needed? Isn't the government (taxpayers) already spending more money on this than for other, more widespread health issues: diabetes, cancer, heart disease? It is well known how to prevent aids from spreading. Why is this part of an economic "stimulus" bill to start with? What congressman is responsible for this ?
Answer: This is the problem with liberals. Their taxpayer funded projects have no limit. Why don't Hollywood stars would are big proponents of aids research give their own money instead of demanding that taxpayers who do not support this cause be forced to pay?
Question: I want to participate in a research study in/near Omaha, NE! What do I do? How do I find a place that's doing research studies? I don't care what the field is (medical, etc.) or what the terms are (cancer, heart disease, etc.). No one ever calls or e-mails me asking me to participate in a study or survey or anything, and I'd love to! Is there a website I can go to or something that lists a bunch of places doing studies or even surveys?
Answer: Amber, try these two websites:
http://www.qcromaha.com/
http://www.omahawomensfund.org/studies/default.aspx
Question: Research Paper On Cancer - Facts? Research indicates that the benefits of excercising as a treatment for cancer decreases body fight, increases lean muschle mass, decreases nausea and fatigue, improves natural defense mechanisms, improves sense of control, improves mood, self-esteem, and self reported improved quality of life.
Other studies found that exercising cancer patients had improved work capacity, lower heart rates at given exercise intensity, increased maximum workloads and time to exhaustion than did non-exercising cancer patients.
Psychological changes, including a decrease in total mood disturbances, decrease in depression and fewer problems sleeping were noted between the exercise and non-exercise groups.
^ is this accurate?
If you have any other info for me, can you please post them and give me the source link? thanks :)
Answer: I would agree to some extent on the first paragraph, IF treatment doesn't make it impossible to exercise.
The last paragraphs are not accurate at all. Work is near impossible unless there is no personal insurance, I know some people that worked thru treatments only to have their work insurance, but that eventually killed them... you need to rest, treatments are very hard on our body systems.
Depression is a factor with many cancer victims, after all.. when you are told you are going to die which is for the most part of cancer victims, its a little hard not to be depressed, at least at the start of it all. Later many of us come to terms with it. Sleep disturbances are common, either from meds, or from emotional issues. Sometimes the only time sleep comes is when one is exhausted from treatments. That would be with exercise or not. Exercise may help the physical side of wanting sleep... but it seldom shuts down the mind long enough to rest.
Question: I was going to do the "March for Cancer research..." & have just been advised by my physical therapist that??? I CANNOT do the walk....i have been on her only intermittently in the last 6 weeks...as the pain i my back is excruciating, now FINALLY after multiples of years, I am in the capable and gentle but VERY well educated Physical Therapists. i am true to my reps they have given me as homework.....it falls the walk that is, on the 5th anniversary of my mothers passing, and I REALLY wanted 9ut of a three day walk, and 60 miles at that that in NO way can i do this...i had to aquiesce to it and make the decision to wait until i can walk like that again......soon enough I shall be doing cartwheels again!!!!!Anything that is stopping yuo from completing something physical that you had your heart set on????
Thanks Lioncourt
NO!!! I DO NOT smoke so called gooed stuff and wouldn't...what the heck???
Answer: Lt . Dan says his mom died of cancer and he is totally in favor of you doing you can.... Don't feel guilty! Your mom knows you did what you could!! Don't feel; guilty!
Question: How is using embryos for research not pro-life? These embryos would be destroyed anyway, because they are leftover from fertility treatments. Why not use them for stem cell research and improve our chances of finding a cure for cancer, heart disease, or even AIDS? Isn't finding a cure saving lives? Why would George Bush veto this bill if it could save so many lives and these embryos are going to die anyway?
It doesn't make sense to me...someone who is pro-life, please explain.
Answer: I am Pro-Life as well but I too fail to understand the reasoning behind the veto. The only thing I can attribute his actions to are his religious views although I cannot excuse them.
It is my opinion that one's religious beliefs should have absolutely nothing to do with one's decisions while in office. One's religious beliefs have no place in politics as far as I am concerned. There is supposed to be an absolute separation of church and state in America and the actions of the politicians should be based solely upon the votes and will of the public.
As far as I am concerned, if you hold public office and disagree with making a law due to a moral objection or religious belief you should sign off on it anyway because it is the will of the people.
Public office should not be held to impose your views on anyone else and should reflect only the majority rule- holding public office should be a life of service and duty, not one of privilege. Religious beliefs and moral concerns should not be a privilege in public office and have absolutely nothing to do with the decision making process.
Our President should be held accountable and severely reprimanded for it.
I am all for freedom of religion until it involves our government's decision making process.
I strongly support freedom of religion up the point where it affects my standard of living and risks lives- which this veto has obviously done. It has unneccessarily put innocent lives at risk and there is absolutely no excuse for it. It's almost tantamount to murder.
Inaction is the same as pulling the trigger when you do nothing to stop the man holding the gun.
