Heart Cancer Support
Question: We have all sorts of charities for cancer but what about Women who are infertile? Why don't we support them? Hundred of commercials for breast cancer, uterus cancer, polycystic fibrosis, and even more for birth control. Charities for women who have cancer and heart disease..but where is the support for the women who can't have kids ever and are permanently infertile? where is the celebrity championing these women? Where is the United support nationally for these women who often hide in shame and are humiliated or embarrassed by their infertility? Why do they not have a day or a ribbon honoring them for the bravery of dealing with IVF. thanks -
Answer: Not trying to offend anyone having other serious conditions but just want to let people know its not as simple as they think it is to deal with infertility.......people say atleast its not life threatening but you know it makes life hell.....
I have PCOS n I have seen many people who deal with infertility and read their stories on net who die to have children and go through daily heart aches.......I have seen women who got pregnant but lost their babies 'cuz of miscarriage or if they were premature n could not conceive ever again........
I have seen 'wonderful' couples who desperately want children
and after trying everything, they now want to adopt, but cuz of some wierd reasons are not allowed to, then they are literally left with NO hope.....but still they have to go on and on facing everything with so much courage.....It is an ordeal really, constant emotional torture day after day, cycle after cycle, years after years....... I know what you mean......
And the thing is you are true many such women shy away but they really really need support. They have to get embarassed at various situations...
If the world is much more aware about such conditions or if there are atleast some support groups, it becomes much easier really....
I was completely lost before I found this support group after days of depression just because of non-awareness I felt completely alone to myself with no one to understand my issues. Its http://www.pcosworldwidesupport.com/PCOS.html
But now I no longer feel that much alone, though i still don't know anyone like me in my area, but its quite tolerable. I haven't even started to ttc but yet I can understand what these women go through. Sometimes they are even mistreated by their husbands n in-laws.....
Well, seriously I guess only the women/couples going through this can only really understand this emotionally draining journey........ I wish people were more open and aware about it.....
Question: What have you done this month to support Breast Cancer Awareness? I went to my sister's middle school, and handed our pink ribbons with safety pins for them to wear.
My boyfriend's grandma fought for 9 years until God called for her.
We miss her dearly. ♥
Answer: I played in the Volley for a Cure volleyball game...
stiill hope to contribute more...
Question: What is a good gift in memory of a loved one lost to breast cancer? A good friend of mine just lost her aunt to a 5 year battle with breast cancer. This is something very dear to my heart as my mother is a breast cancer survivor. Instead of sending flowers/food, I would love to get her family something in honour of her aunt that supports the breast cancer foundation. I'm just not sure as to exactly what I should do. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Answer: You can contact the Susan G Koman Org for cancer. They are an org that supports all brest cancer patients and you can make a donation in your friends aunt's name and present it to her. Another org to contact, would be the cancer foundation of America. Koman is your best bet. Log on to their web site and you will see how you can donate and they will also have a toll free number for you to call them and ask them.
This is so kind of you. God bless you.
Question: How can I put a ribbon like for breast cancer for my display name on myspace? Like how you would put a heart or a peace sign; I want to put a ribbon in support for breast cancer. Does anyone know the code for one or can just put in on here so I can copy and paste? Thanks:)
Answer: great question thanks for being a fellow supporter for breast cancer I tried looking for a way too but gave up and am just using the ribbon as my profile picture and headline if you do find a way let me know I would like to do it too.!
OCTOBER= Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Question: How is slope calculated? I've seen slope written as degrees - 5 degrees, or as a per cent - 3%. These two are supposed to be the same angle of incline. How are the degrees or percentage determined?
Für Elise – Support the Cancer & Heart Foundations
Answer: The slope written as a percentage is the total height of the vertical rise in feet, divided by the length of the horizontal run, in feet.
The slope in degrees is as follows:
Tangent of the angle = total vertical rise/total horiz. run
to get the angle look it up on a table of trigonometric functions for the value that you just determined for the Tangent of the angle.
Question: How can you find help for some one who has lost a spouse to cancer, is there a support group out there? my sister lost her husban to cancer in Aug. he was 32 and she is 32. they were high school sweet hearts. I dont know how to help her, I don't think she has truly delt with it yet. Now that the holiadays are over and every thing is getting back to normal she is tired all the time , she has a 15month old daughter, she takes to day care and then she goes back to sleep, she says she has been having strange thoughts and that scares me I want to help her some how. She says that she wants to be able to laugh agian and to be happy but right now the smalest things upset her. Please if anyone has any ideas that would help. I think she would be willing to go to a support group to hear what they have to say , because none of us know what it is like to watch the one person you love more than anything take his last breath, she says she has night mares about that day every night.
Answer: Contact the hospital where her husband was treated for his cancer. I would be shocked if they didn't know of a support group like the one you are seeking.
I attend a support group myself (it's for a different thing from cancer) & mine really helps.
Good Luck!
Question: My Dog was diagnosed with Cancer are there any Good online support groups out here? That aren't phony.? PLEASE I do NOT want to hear from anyone to put her down or put her to sleep!!!! THIS IS NOT AN OPTION!!! She is my baby, companion and service dog. I am heart broken over this! Can anyone suggest anything please?
Answer: lung/abdominal or bone,,sorry to say it but if lung or abdominal theirs not much that your vet can do,,thats based on several that i have had worked on,,to extreme,,as far as bone,, depends on location
sometimes you get a few more months out of removal, but doubtful.on stopping spread, one old one had large surfaced protrusion similar to fist size rock that appeared 2 months after having abdominal cavity cleaned out on removal for comfort grape size clusters were found,, removed ,an she made it 6mo before hit lungs lasted few weeks,,
Question: What are Fred Thompson's chances, with 1 foot in the cancer ward, and 1 in the intensive care heart unit? Even if I want to support him, I have to wonder if he'd last 4 years. Can he pick a VP carefully enough to suit the American people, given the fact that the office will likely revert to whoever his number two man is?
Answer: I agree. He really doesn't appear fit enough for the job. Everyone who has had it seems to have aged atleast 15 years.
Question: How to acknowledge someone with cancer when they don't want to be treated differently? I have recently been informed from my mother that a relative of mine has been diagnosed with cancer. We've been told that this person didn't want to tell anyone and doesn't want to be treated differently. How can you support this person during this time and acknowledge the fact that you know without treating them differently. My heart goes out to this person and I'd like to do something but don't want to make them feel bad. Please tell me what I can do?
Answer: They may feel that people act differently towards them. They don't want anyone to feel sorry for them. Possibly they have not come to terms with what is going on, yet. They also could be embarrassed that they are in this situation. Just let them know that you are there when or if they would like to talk about how they are feeling. When the time comes if they need help tell them to just ask, other wise go on with your normal life and act as you normally do towards them. In my situation I didn't want anyone to know until I was sure what was going on. But for me helped to talk about how I was feeling and my fears. But please don't ask every time you see them how are they feeling today. I get so tired of that. My parents never before asked how I was feeling everyday, now they do. Just treat them normal, because we are, we just have a disease that we cant help that we have. If they want to talk about it they eventually will. Sorry that you are having such a difficult time trying to relate to them. Be yourself. God Bless!
Question: Why does breast cancer get so much attention when heart disease kills so many more (non-PC Alert!!)? Breast cancer is the disease du jour, with countless cash being spent on advertising for Susan Komen walks and stuff like that, you couldn't find a politician who wouldn't throw his/her support to several billion of taxpayer cash being thrown at it because to not do so would be political suicide. However, if saving lives was really the main concern, heart disease should be the main benefactor, since it is our number one killer. It makes breast cancer and AIDS look like child's play.
My hunch is that breast cancer is a much more profitable disease to market. Also, I would like to pre-empt anyone saying heart disease is a matter of choice. It isn't. While diet and exercise are certainly factors, genetics play the biggest role and if your dad died of heart disease in his 40s you are at serious risk.
With all due respect, most heart disease really is genetic. Millions of obese slobs are sitting on the couch eating everything in sight today, while millions of people who treated their bodies like temples are six feet under. And it's all due to heart disease, America's number one killer.
Answer: because MOST heart disease is preventable, there is no "prevention" of breast cancer.
You must be gay, because most men want women to keep their breasts
Question: Do you support so called "sin" taxes? Excise taxes on alcohol and tobacco. Alcohol, I don't know that one could make the case for, but smoking? Yes. I can see that.
Let's not play games, second hand smoke can and does cause cancer, heart disease, and emphysema in those that never asked for it and do not smoke.
Plus, why would anyone want to intentionally do harm to their bodies by smoking / drinking? It's almost like they don't care if they end up with cancer or liver disease. It boggles the mind.
Answer: I have yet to see an actual study that proves second hand smoking causes cancer(more than any other substance like car exhaust etc) But back to the point.
No I believe most people whom use the the so called sin taxable items, are usually poor or middle of the road and they use these as an escape. So they really propose taxes on the poor.
Question: Need a good song kinda a theme song for my dad that is fighting lung cancer!? My Step-Dad last week found out he has lung cancer. We are planning several occasions for get togethers to show him our support and the communities support. He is kinda a tough guy...motercycle rider...type but has a huge heart! Can anyone think of any songs about being tough or staying strong not being scared...that kind of thing? Any genre.
Answer: First off, i am really sorry. I hope he gets better soon.
1.Peaceful Easy Feeling by The Eagles
2.Love Will Keep Us Alive by The Eagles
3.Don't Worry 'Bout Me by Frank Sinatra
4.The Long Day is Over by Norah Jones
5.Little Wing by Sting (best one)
Question: Supporting Breast Cancer? My favorite color is pink, everything in my room is pink, most of my clothes are pink, I just love pink. I had thought about painting my car pink but I thought that might have looked silly.
It wasn't until recently that I had met a group of the most beautiful women I have ever met in my life. All of which were survivors of breast cancer. They gave me a pink "Hope" band which I wear proudly each day. No one in my family has been affected by breast cancer, and I am grateful for that. However so many women's lives have been affected. Since that day I have decided to not to wear pink just because it's my favorite color, I've decided to wear it each day to support these amazing women who face tremendous obstacles each day.
I'm getting a new car this winter, hopefully a convertable. I would still like to paint my car pink in support of Breast Cancer survivors and those still in treatment. I would like some opinions about my decision from those that have been affected by this horrible cancer. Any opinions is appreciated.
This question is directed to those with a heart, please leave your crude comments and remarks somewhere else.
Thank you
Answer: Maybe placing the pink ribbon on the car or placing a discrete sign on the car the gives a website supporting breast cancer research or a sign that says: Support breast cancer research. Some people will read a sticker or a writing on a car and pay attention to the message. Another thing is that Mary Kay cosmetics uses the pink car thing for rewards for their upper sales people. By indicating why you have chosen pink you send a clearer message. Hope you do this as it can become a motivational tool for your community. Thanks for the thoughts and support.
Question: How would I be categorized politically? I support unborn rights and would support a pro-life amendment to the constitution, with the only acceptation for the mother's life.
I would abolish the department of education because it's a local and state level responsibility.
I support the right to bear arms, concealed weapons licenses, hunting, stand your ground laws, etc.
I support a 2 strikes and your out drunk driving law.
I support a his body his choice law banning infant circumcision unless it is to treat a legitimate medical condition.
I support the decriminalizing of marijuana because it is less harmful than alcohol.
I think the drinking age should be 18 to match the age of adulthood.
I think it is of the highest urgency to become and stay energy independent.
I support nuclear power and increasing the number of nuclear power plants across America.
I would push the auto makers to make electric cars available for drivers who want them.
I would set and push for goals of energy independence, curing cancer, and paying down the nation debt.
I oppose the endangered species act because it has failed to protect one species and has only given government control of people's land.
I would raise the levels of fines on employers hiring illegal aliens.
Homeland security should only be used as an anti-terror agency and criminal law enforcement should be handled by other agencies.
I don't believe there is such thing as a gay marriage and think we should give them the same privileges that comes with marriage but call it something else.
I think capitalism is the greatest antipoverty tool the world has ever seen and encourage the economy, not put outrageous taxes on it.
I don't believe humans are warming up the Earth but I think we need to clean up some of the messes we are making such as air quality.
I believe in a small federal government. I don't think the general public should even notice the federal government unless they visit their local military recruiter or post office.
No more ethanol, it causes higher grocery bills and less MPG.
I support Boone's plan.
I support the rights of nudists to live their lifestyle on their privately owned property without the government telling them they must put clothes on.
I am a Christian but don't think it's the government's job to push morality, I think morality must come from the people up. Not the government down.
I support net neutrality, and oppose bandwidth caps.
I would revert our copyright laws back to that of the Webster and Benjamin Franklin years: An item can be copyrighted for 14 years, renewable once, then falls into public domain.
We allow men to go out in public shirtless. I support amending the law allowing both genders to do the same. One gender shirtless is discrimination. I support women's rights to breast feed in public. That is the function of the breast. I don't think anyone has ever been harmed for seeing a breast.
I think smokers should be required to pay their own way when they get cancer and heart disease. Not get public money to fight a self imposed condition.
I would allow people to own their social security accounts and allow them to invest in a Roth IRA within their social security account so the people may build a nest egg to retire on. Each person will own their account and congress may never dip into it.
I would make it illegal for credit card companies to raise interest rates, at will, with no delinquent activity: banning universal default.
Absolutely, no more national debt. No more borrowing.
I believe terminally ill patients should be allowed to take experimental drugs that have yet to receive FDA approval.
Lets get rid of the IRS, replace tax system with flat tax or national sales tax. The IRS and current tax code only exists to control people.
I oppose taxes on broadband internet access, sales tax on in items bought online, and regulation of online content.
I don't believe our government is up to the task of providing national heath care and it's much better off left in the hands of the private sector.
I think adults should legally be able to take steroids for body building if he is not competing in competitive sports.
I think daylight savings time should be expanded to a year round project.
I oppose the government regulating the content of literature, films, video games, etc.
Answer: well im not sure what to call it, but
I agree with 80% of that.
Question: Why is Breast Cancer Awareness so strong? I understand it's a leader in affecting women. I support breast cancer awareness, research, etc. I have bought items that had some proceeds go towards this. However, I do not understand why it is so much more prominent than other cancers or diseases.
As far as cancers go, it is my understanding that this is a leading cause of death? Or at least infections. But heart disease is still leading cause of death overall. And what about childhood cancers? Maybe it doesn't affect as many, but they are only kids.
I am not trying to take away from what Breast Cancer Awareness organizations have done. I applaud them and all who support. But why does the post office only have a stamp for Breast Cancer and no other diseases. Why are the NFL, Campbell's, and other big organizations supporting this so strongly and nothing else at all? I thank these companies for giving back to the community and all. I just hate to know other disease that we need to raise awareness for are forgotten.
It almost makes me want to take my money and time elsewhere for a cause. Not out of spite. But simply because SO Much is already being done for Breast Cancer that I feel my small individual contributions could go further in something else.
But again, please know I applaud all the efforts for BCA. I'm just trying to understand.
Answer: I understand what you're saying. However, I believe the awareness is so strong because breast cancer can be found just by doing self checks on yourself. This can't be done with a lot of other cancer. You see, if women are aware of breast cancer and are warned about the lumps they find. the early detection is almost guaranteed and early cure. They make all women aware of what a lump in the breast feels like. Breast cancer cells also metastasize rapidly to other areas of the body when they are ignored. Now, I don't know if the spread faster, but they do go everywhere. My sister's brain cancer was due to tumors that contained breast cancer cells. She didn't wait when she felt the lump either. It was removed immediately and still those cells had time to go somewhere else. My sister-in-law also had breast cancer at 33. She did, however, hold off on treatment and hers spread to her lungs. Now, she is gone. So I do understand the need for awareness. It's so important and a lot of senseless death could be prevented just by being aware. God bless. Hope that answers you
Question: Would you support a 'health' truth movement in the US? Given the following, shouldn't we all be more active in promoting the truth about health in the US?
+ It's clear that McDonald's, KFC, Burger King, Budweiser, Monsanto, the drug industry, and a whole host of other corporations "own" mass media and the entertainment industry in the US. We'd expect more from PBS, but they only make milk toast recommendations such as 'don't super-size.'
+ Scientific evidence is clear that the Western lifestyle in the US results in obesity, diabetes, strokes, cancer (yes cancer), and heart disease. This is the lifestyle that makes huge profits for the food industry. Most instances are totally avoidable through lifestyle changes, but media does nothing substantial (, and in fact promotes health fallacies).
+ These diseases were rare in America at the beginning of the 20th century and are epidemic at the beginning of the 21st century. These are diseases of affluence that are totally avoidable through lifestyle changes.
Does compassion lead you to support the idea of a health truth movement within the US free from drug company and food industry profiteering?
You might want to learn about substantial peer reviewed scientific research that remains unreported in mass media in the US.
"China Study" T. Colin Campbell. This scientific study shows how a diet high in animal proteins (especially milk protein) leads to cancers and other diseases.)
T. Colin Campbell claims these disease are a direct result of an 'animal protein' diet. There are some genetic and environmental impacts, but statistically, these are swamped by diet and exercise.
The media and some Yahoo posters are not in agreement with my claim, but I still will go the best peer reviewed scientific studies. I can find valid studies supporting this assertion from 40 years ago. "The China Study" also supports this and is very current.
Obviously, many corporations are fighting for their life (profits).
Answer: Absitively, posilutely!
My brother became a vegetarian in college and he is healthy, while I am still on my way to eliminating meat protein from my diet. My sister is still the only one of us who is still mostly a carnivore. However, I am the one with diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.
I would settle for a first step in just removing all forms of sugar from the human food chain.
There are so many diseases and conditions that were unheard of 100 years ago, which our modern life can't explain away with their "eat right, and exercise" mantra.
What makes me really angry is that NO ONE is looking at the causes of these diseases and conditions and why they might now be endemic to advanced societies. And if they are, they are being dissed by the mainstream whenever they raise necessary questions.
