Question: How come there's no such thing as heart cancer? I know it's a weird question, but all the other organs can become cancerous. Can a heart develop cancer? And if not,Why?

Answer: Yeah, the heart can develop cancer but its very very rare. The heart is not exactly an organ, I mean it is obviously, but its muscle tissue not the same type of cells as your kidneys or most other organs? The cells in kidneys,etc replace themselves and grow very rapidly which makes it more likely that they will grow sort of 'mutant' and form a tumor. The tissue of your heart replaces itself very very slowly and so there's less chance of cancerous cells appearing and also less chance of them growing fast enough to cause problems. I think in general muscle cancers are just really rare compared to other forms of cancer.

Question: can you get heart cancer if you put your phone in your bra? im talking on the phone right now and the question popped into my head. so if putting the phone to your ear causes brain tumors... then what if i put it on speaker...and put it in the front of my shirt? is there a possibilty i can get heart cancer?

Answer: Heart cancer is extremely rare, and studies show an incidence of less than 0.1 percent — most of which were benign. By putting a mobile phone near to heart will not cause any sort of cancer. Instead the due to the signals radiated or electromagnetic waves emited from the phone, if put near the heart can cause damage to the heart muscle and increase the risk of coronary artery disease later in life. Also these electromagnetic waves emitted from mobile phones can seriously damage the tissues of the users' brain, or lead to fatal consequences.-

Question: What will my Percentage be of developing cancer/Heart problems? On my Moms side of the family my great Grandpa had Cancer and his Wife (my great grandma) had Heart problems on my Dads side of the family my Cousin died of Cancer and my Grandpa is fighting Heart Problems right now. What would the chance be for me to develop Cancer and/or Heart problems?

Answer: u have a positive family history ,the genetic side,but remember every disease requests a certain life style to develop it,the both interaction u get either cancer or heart problem ,so live a healthy life style and dont worry ,the risk will increase only if u follow the risky lifestyle which develops the disease,(cancer and heart disease are poly genetic )

Question: How long does a person smokes before she gets heart disease/lung cancer? I've smoked like for like 15 times only. Am i prone to lung cancer/heart disease already? Female, 17.

Answer: it takes alot of time. years for some others months. you shouldnt smoke i have a uncle who died from smoking and left my aunt pregnant with 2 sons. think about smoking is a 1 way to a early start to your coffin. but hey its your decision on whats good and bad for your health. smoking+lung+heart= short life and early death or cancer....

Answer: A person has to take care of their body fro9m the begining to have good health later. Many tendencies to different deases and defects are inherityed from those before us. We all must die one day and it will be blamed on one thing or another but seldom they say he died because it was time for him to die. We do wear out and are no longer able to maintain. Some much earlier than others. Most of the time once you have one of the three or even all of them the diet may give you a little mote time but you are going to die. Take care of you from the begining and your chanses of living to past 100 will be very good.

Answer: You might have a 25% chance of developing either, just remember those are some factors that make your chances higher, but there are still others, like sex, race and age, and hereditary predisposition as well. Children of parents with heart disease are more likely to develop it themselves. African Americans have more severe high blood pressure than Caucasians and a higher risk of heart disease. Heart disease risk is also higher among Mexican Americans, American Indians, native Hawaiians and some Asian Americans. This is partly due to higher rates of obesity and diabetes. Most people with a strong family history of heart disease have one or more other risk factors. BUT it's never too late to start changing at least some of those risk factors, like taking charge of your diet and stopping smoking. Question: Do you know any vegans with any types of cancer or heart disease? One of the main reasons I became vegan was because of the book "The China Study," and because of my family's terrible history of heart disease. Our livers just make too much cholesterol on their own, etc. etc. I have scrawny 10 year old cousins with astronomical cholesterol etc..... Answer: NO WAY! I don't know any vegan with any type of cancer or heart disease. I'm a proud vegan too. Poor cows, pigs, chickens, foxes, etc. Hopefully the world will change someday!

Question: Is it phyiscaly possible for a cancer patient to have a heart attack? I'm just wondering? Because this guy that works for my dad said that his dad has cancer and its gotten bad which we believe cuz you can't really play around wit that. But this dude has made up some bull sh*t story that his dad had a heart while in the hopital. he wasn't even crying or conserned about that. All because his car got towed or whatever and he can't get it out of the pound and he can't ask his dad for money and he asked my dad for money and a advance on his cheque before my dad went on vaction. But now my dad is gone and he keep on bugging the person whos in charge and he told him no because my father is not there and has to follow what my dad says. Do you think this is a bull shit story or do you think its possible for someone to have a heart attack with cancer?

Answer: Of course it's possible, why wouldn't it be? It's like saying that someone with a head cold couldn't also have a broken leg--there's nothing about the first one that means the second one wouldn't be possible. Not that I'm saying you should necessarily believe his story, but there's no reason why someone with cancer couldn't also have heart problems.

Answer: Heart cancer is an extremely rare form of cancer. Heart cancer is divided into primary tumors of the heart and secondary tumors of the heart. Most heart cancers are benign myxomas, fibromas, rhabdomyomas and hamartomas, although malignant sarcomas (such as angiosarcoma or cardiac sarcoma) have been known to occur. In a study of 12,487 autopsies performed in Hong Kong seven cardiac tumors were found, most of which were benign. Cancer, however, can also spread to the heart from other parts of the body. In addition the heart can be affected by treatment for cancer in other parts of the body

Question: If there is a family history of a heart problem or cancer? are you at a lesser risk than your other siblings if you have no simular physical characteristics to the parent or other relatives in the line of developing their heart problems/cancer? Or are you still at equal risk?

Answer: If you have the same blood, you pretty much have the same risks. An annual physical through your lifetime can screen for these illnesses and get them treated early.

Question: How come there is no heart cancer? How come there is lung-, liver-, brain-, breastcancer, etc etc etc and there is no heartcancer?

Answer: There is cancer of the heart. It's very rare to have a primary tumor of the heart, but often cancer (especially sarcoma) can metastasize to the heart. Question: if you have a family history of heart disease and cancer is there really anything you can do? my grandma has a history of heart disease, her mom had a history as well. my grandma has a oversized heart.(dads side) my dad has a irregular heart beat. his brother died of childhood luekemia. my moms mom died of breast cancer. so is there really anything i can do?

Answer: there is. keep yourself healthy. try not to put stress on those things so much. if it is your time to leave this world, there's nothing we could do. make the most out of everything. try not to get too close to carcinogens, increase immunity by taking in vitamin C daily, eat veggies, fruits, not so much on the carbs and fats. exercise 3-4 times weekly. stick to anti-oxidants.=) if ever you are anemic, take in iron supplements or unless directed by your doctor. as much as possible, consult your doctor to check if you have any symptoms/signs of heart diseases or cancer. early detection will provide early cure. =)

Question: Can a weak heart let cancer develop faster? For example lung cancer if a person has had heart attack and later on within months develops lung cancer?

Answer: A weak heart only contributes to cardiac arrest, not cancer. Cancer is defined to be the abnormal proliferation of cells. Cells normally are replicated or go through apoptosis, or death of the cell. Those that should go through apoptosis do not because of mutations in proto-oncongenes or tumor suppressors. These genes regulate cell replication, and when mutated, do not stop cells from dividing thus creating a tumor or lump in the body. Weak hearts do not play a role in this whatsoever, since the heart pump oxygen filled blood throughout your body so your organs can function. The heart affects organs not the cells. There is a cancer of the blood and that is called leukemia, but even that does not affect the heart. If you ask me, i feel cancer would make hearts get weak not the other way around. Why? because cancer causes damage to organs due to the metastizing of malignant cells, and failure of organs like the lung forces the heart to pump blood faster and harder than it normally should, thus resulting in a very weak heart. Question: do u think that heart disease, cancer and stroke largely preventable by individual choice? according to the CDC heart disease, cancer, and stoke are the top 3 leading causes of death in the united states and i just want ur opinion on what u think and why.

Answer: Firstly Heart Disease, Heart disease has two seperate primary factors Lifestyle and genetics. Livestyle factors, such as obesity, too much colestoral and lack of exercise, can be altered by a person's actions however Genetic factors, such as the Aortic Stignosis that i myself suffered from in my youth, can not be. Cancer, rather than a single disease is a number of closely related problems and so to condense it down to a single cause is rather foolish. While some cancers such as Skin, Lung and Throat cancers are known to be brought on by enviromental factors, sunbathing and smoking respectively, However these by themselves are not entire causes, since genetic diseases such as Lupus can increase people's chances of getting cancer. Stroke is primarily caused by a clot in the brain. As such while this can be encouraged by certain enviromental factors it comes down to a number of medical factors. So the awnser is that in some cases they may be preventable or at least have their impact reduced by individual choice but there is no way that we can lay the blame for these conditions at the feet of individuals.

Question: when a person dies of cancer, what makes the heart stop beating, and the person stop breathing? When a person with advanced cancer is on their death bed, one minute their heart is beating the next minute it stops. How can cancer cause the heart to stop beating, is it a cascade of cellular reactions .. do the cells eventually say "lets stop now?" Does the pulse continually slow until it stops, or does it stop all of a sudden?

Answer: I'm an MD - cancer specialist for 20 years (now retired), so I've seen the deaths of many of my patients with advanced cancers - - been there at the bedside. The body just seems overwhelmed in the end - exhausted - like it has been climbing a long hill and just can't make one more step, one more breath, or one more heartbeat. Usually people are not awake at the end. Oxygen delivery to the brain is decreased so that most are mercifully unconscious. Often the breathing becomes irregular and stops before the heart stops. Often there is an infection - such a pneumonia -contributing. Sometimes there is hemorrhaging (bleeding) which is usually quicker. This is a very good and thoughtful question - - what is the last gasp, the final straw? It's a combination of factors that leads to the body simply being worn out. Usually poor nutrition contributes to weakness, but force feeding end stage cancer patients usually just prolongs their agony at the end. It is usually a blessing to see this death process end. Death appears much more restful and relaxed compared to the last struggle. I fear the discomforts of dying more than I do death.
