Kidney Cancer Stages
Question: What is the survival rate of a person diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer? My husband was just diagnosed with kidney cancer,He is only 40. I was told that it had already spread to his lung (5 tumors) He has already had the kidney removed and we were told that it was in the tissue also.
Answer: My wife has stage IV kidney cancer. She was diagnosed 5 years ago.At that time survival rate was very low, however a lot of advancements have been made sense her diagnosis. She is on a target therapy caller Nexavar and her tumors are stable.I have also heard good things about another target therapy call sutent. When she was diagnosed there was less than a 10% chance that she would make it one year.I am happy to say that five years latter, she is alive and doing very well.Good luck to you and your husband.

Question: My father has 4th stage kidney cancer and is going through a very rough, painful time right now.? I am stressed out at work. A coworker recently committed suicide and not only did it put emotional pain on all of us at work, the workload has increased. I live at home with my mom and dad, and want to be at home with them to help them. But then I feel I have to go to work otherwise I will get into trouble at work. I am crying everday and have such a painful stomach ache worrying about my dad.
Also my boyfriend told me he is here for me but the just tonight told me he is going on holiday for nearly 2 wks to California. I am mad at him bc I feel he is abandoning me when I need him most. I don't know what to do. Pls help I feel so desperately alone.
Answer: You don't say where you work, but if you work for a company that has over 50 employees, and you have worked for them for at least a year, you probably qualify for FMLA - Family Medical Leave Act. Here is a brief synopsis of the law.
Covered employers (companies with more than 50 total employees) must grant an eligible employee up to a total of 12 workweeks of unpaid leave during any 12-month period for one or more of the following reasons:
- for the birth and care of the newborn child of the employee;
- for placement with the employee of a son or daughter for adoption or foster care;
- to care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition; or
- to take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of a serious health condition.
If your company is large enough and you have met the time requirements, go to the HR department and fill out the appropriate paperwork. They must grant you the leave and keep your job open for your return. If they don't, they face serious problems with the Federal Government. Remember, if you are granted the leave, it will be unpaid, but it will allow you to spend time with your father and help in his time of need.
I am terminally ill and both of my daughters have exercised this right and have helped my wife and I on several occasions. They always were able to return to work without fear of punishment or retribution. Good luck to you and I hope this helps a little.
Question: how long will survive a 47 year old male with kidney cancer in stage 4 - now is in chemioterapie with SUTENT ?
Answer: My Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in May this year. once it was discovered it has spread to the liver and lung it was an very aggressive cancer. It took 2 months to find the primary source by this time the tumors had growth over 75% Has the patients kidney cancer spread????? My Mum was EXTREMELY ill and they decided to do a course of sutent. Because Mums cancer was so aggressive and growing so fast it was pointless. The drug made her sicker than the cancer itself. She lost bowel and bladder control, slept all day, vomitted, couldnt walk etc. My Mum would ahve been better off just enjoying what time she had left. She died three weeks after starting sutent. (sept 7) Mum was only sick for 4 months. Contact me if you need more information i have lots!!
Question: What is it about cancer that causes weight loss? My wife has stage IV kidney cancer.Lately she has been losing weight, even though her latest scans show stable disease.Just wondering what is it about cancer that causes weight loss?
Ben, I am not talking about being over weight and wanting to shed a few pounds.I am talking about weight lose caused by cancer.
Answer: The weight loss many people with advanced cancer experience may be caused by increased metabolism due to their disease, according to a study published in the International Journal of Cancer, (Vol. 93, No. 3: 380-383).
This means that it is especially important for patients with advanced cancer to increase their food intake to maintain body weight and optimize their health, say experts.
"We know that as the disease progresses, nutrition becomes a matter of concern," says Terri Ades, RN, MS, AOCN, director of quality of life and health promotion strategy for the American Cancer Society (ACS). "Often patients are undernourished and lose weight, and we cannot fully explain why."
In the study, Swedish researchers looked at food intake in almost 300 advanced cancer patients with solid tumors, age 30 to 90 years old. Participants kept a careful diary of everything they ate for four days. During that period, the research team measured the patients’ weight, weight loss, and resting metabolism.
More than 40% of these patients were 10% or more below their normal long-term weight levels, but this did not seem to be due to lower food intake. Almost half of them had an unusually high resting metabolic rate, but the people with high metabolisms didn’t seem to eat an extra amount of food.
"Usually when someone uses extra energy, they have a sense of hunger and eat more food, which provides the body with needed nutrients," Ades says. "In this study, in this group of patients, that did not seem to happen."
Question: i have cancer in my lung and now they found it in my kidney if it is the same kind what stage is it ? I had lung cancer they removed half of right lung now they found a spot on right kidney that is cancer ? If it is the same does that mean stage 4 and is it every place between lung and kidney ?
Answer: Anytime cancer spreads from one area to the other (metastasis) , its stage iv. It doesn't necessarily mean there is cancer in every place between lung and kidney, but may be some cancer cells between the two organs.
Question: If my husband has early stage of kidney cancer- what are we to expect for life expectancy and quality of life?
Answer: Hi there Janell,
I just want you to know that if you ever need to talk with someone about it, i will always be willing to len an ear. I too was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma in December 2005. I underwent a partial nephrectomy in December. This can be a very trying experience, but from the research i have done i think my outlook is very good. There is a wonderful dr in the state of Utah which is known very well for his works with renal cancers. ( send me an email if you want his info). He sees patients from all over the country. He is fabuluos, and knows his business. I was just in about 4 days ago for more testing, there was no evidence of any re growth(whew). He most likely wont have to go thru chemo, or radiation as most of the kidney cancers are resistant to it. Surgery is most likely just about the only real fix. Again, may god be with you and him as you embark on this section of your lives. You will both be in my prayers. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assisatance. dmckinner@yahoo.com
Question: How big of a chance is it for me to survive cancer after 15 years of not having it? I am 15 years old and i had cancer about 15 years ago in October (when i was 3 months old) and i wanna know how big a chance i have left for not getting it after 15 years...
Oh ya i was also in stage 2 kidney cancer
Answer: You should be fine. My guess is that you have a average chance of getting cancer again. Perhaps you got the cancer from your mother while in the womb.
You can to things that enhance and lower your risk of getting cancer. Certainly working in a chemical related industry will increase your risks, but working in a normal office will be less than average (now that they do not allow smoking in office buildings).
You can also be more at risk for cancer by being acidic, while being more alkaline you are less likely to host cancer. This is because cancer requires a PH lower than 7.0 to reproduce, while the bloodstream is normally 7.4 PH, drinking things like soft drinks that have a PH of 4.0 can lower your overall PH level in your body, while drinking things with a higher PH can increase the PH in your body and also help absorb things like calcium.
I can recommend that you try drinking 9.5 PH water. Do a google search for 9.5 drinking water and you will get several results.
Thanks for reading my reply.
Question: Information on Pancreatic, Liver and Kidney Cancer? My grandmother is dying of Pancreatic Cancer and wishes to know what the implications for her wellbeing will be as the cancer progresses, ie. How much pain, what sort of muscle deterioration, will there be mental deterioration, what areas of her body will she lose function of. There is also some possibilityn of the cancer spreading to her liver or kidneys. She is unwilling to speak to her doctor about this for a variety of reasons so I am hoping to find this information on the internet but I am having difficulty wading through endless articles about how cancer spreads, proper treatments, technical details etc. I really need to be pointed in the direction of articles which deal specifically with the physical implications for the patient of Pancreatic, Liver and Kidney cancer as it reaches its final stages. Thanks
Answer: I am unsure what you are asking . . if your grandmother has pancreatic cancer than it is pancreatic cancer cells that are invading the liver and kidney . .it's called metastasis and is considered the same cancer. You would look for information on Pancreatic cancer. But, if you are looking for end of life information for cancer patients, that is a little different. You can read through the following material to see if it is helpful:

Question: my grandmother is in the late stages of lymphnode cancer, her kidneys have completely stopped working..? how long will it be unitl she passes?
Answer: I agree with the last person. It probably won't be much longer, I am so sorry you are having to go thru this, I lost my g'ma last Sept. to cancer so I know what you must be going thru. Just stay close to her side, and let her know that everyone loves her. That's what we did.
You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers
Question: Cost of cancer treatment in apollo hospital? Whats the treatment procedure and costs for a person having advanced kidney cancer (stage 4) in Apollo Hospital ? Is there any other good cancer hospitals in india
Answer: Why you want to go for the treatment of a kidney with this much damage with no certainty of cure after spending a lot. Why cant you try the option of kidney transplantation which will give you some hope. The expenses Apollo hospital differ from patient to patient. Still once the patient is admitted for treatment they give the best care with ultra modern equipments.
Question: What is the approximate survival rate of the stage IV lung cancer? One of my very close relatives was diagnosed to have kidney cancer on September last year. She underwent a surgery, which reportedly went very well. However, she went back to re-check this summer and was detected that the cancer has spreaded over both of her lungs. Since this September, she has been taking a medication named Gefitinib, which is supposed to be the only effective drug against lung cancer as of today.
But I would really want to know what is her real chance of surviving from the lung cancer.
Thank you very much.
Answer: Panda is right, kidney cancer that has spread to the lungs is not lung cancer it is still kidney cancer. My wife is stage IV kidney cancer and is on one of the targeted therapy Panda mentioned sunitinib (brand name Sutent). She is doing better on this, than any other therapy she has tried.I think targeted therapy is the best thing going for kidney cancer at this time.
Question: OMG my mom has kidney cancer!!? I just found out my mom has kidney cancer!!! I am absolutely shocked and devastated. The doctor caught the cancer at an early stage and he says he can surgically remove the tumor, but it will cost a lot of money and my dad just got laid off. My brother is working at McDonald's but it isn't much money. I'm only 13, and I'm raising money by doing bake sales and things like that, but I live in Chicago and no one really cares. I don't know what to do!! please no online marketing ad guys post! How do I make $300 cold hard cash within a few weeks? My family is thinking of putting up a free website for donations, but no one wants to donate. Please help...I love my mom so much..she means the world to me!
Thank you!
Answer: pray, deff. God will help you. I will send money. please email me with the information. GOd bless and i hope your mom gets cured.
Question: My mother has been diagnosed with renal cancer..last stage. Her right kidney removed.? She is 73 years old. Her oncologist wants to start a new medication that has a monthly cost of $3,000 and it does not guarantee the cancer will stop. Her only income is social security. I asked if there were any more options....
but the doctor did not give any.
Answer: I have always believed that the mainstream medical industry is not interested in finding a cure for cancer because it makes too much profit with its present barbarous methods.
Eventually, I came across a detailed report which agreed with my findings, and I have included it in my web page at
http://dgwa1.fortunecity.com/body/cancer.html
By reading this report, you will also convince yourself that it is best to ignore the mainstream cancer industry, and seek alternative cures. Also you should bear in mind that the medical industry will do anything to protect its profitable position, including disparaging alternative healers or even creating bogus court cases.
I believe that cancer is a whole body thing, which in 80 percent of cases manifests itself by producing symptoms in the weaker parts of the body, and therefore appearing localised. It is this treatment of symptoms instead of cause which creates the profitable, yet non-successful approach of mainstream medicine.
Some cures are listed on the web page too.
It is therefore obvious that a holistic approach is required, based on cleansing, diet, exercise and debugging.
CLEANSING
The best way of cleansing is to fast.

but if a patient is too weak for that, or does not fancy the idea, then alternative cleanses are available.

DIET,
The best diet is vegetarian, avoiding all processed, frozen or micro-waved foods and drinks, and based on fresh fruit, fresh vegetables - preferably organic, nuts and seeds. Drinks should be clean water or freshly squeezed orange juice.
Many researchers promote the benefits of vitamin B17 as a healer. this can be found in the following foods:
Apple seeds, alfalfa sprouts, apricot kernels, bamboo shoots, barley, beet tops, bitter almond, blackberries, boysenberries, brewer’s yeast, brown rice, buckwheat, cashews, cherry kernels, cranberries, currants, fava beans, flax seeds, garbanzo beans, gooseberries, huckleberries, lentils, lima beans, linseed meat, loganberries, macadamia nuts, millet, millet seed, peach kernels, pecans, plum kernels, quince, raspberries, sorghum cane syrup, spinach, sprouts (alfalfa, lentil, mung bean, buckwheat, garbanzo), strawberries, walnuts, watercress, yams.
A commercial preparation of B17 is available called Laetrile.
EXERCISE
Exercise should be sufficient to create a sweat, but not sufficient to make you gasp for breath or feel over-tired. About one hours exercise every day is best.
DEBUGGING
There are various theories about how bugs create cancer.
Hulda Clark suggests that parasites are the cause, and that they can be disposed of by using a zapper.
Zappers are available from
