Kidney Cancer Symptoms
Question: Can someone tell me the symptoms of kidney cancer? What is the scientific name of kidney cancer?
Answer: When I have questions about cancer I go to the internet and type in example.....Cancer of the kidneys/signs and symptons...and the info will pop up. Try it.
Question: What are symptoms of kidney cancer ?
Answer: Sometimes none. But you may have blood in the urine, an abnormal mass or lump, pain in the side that does not go away, weight loss, fever, feeling very tired or having a general feeling of poor health.
If this is really a concern, you need to go to the doctor and have some imaging done.
Question: What could this be other than kidney cancer? Symptoms:
Apparently "lumpy" kidney (not diagnosed officially but noted by an observer watching an ultrasound)
Horrific pain in kidney when pressed upon during ultrasound
Chronic back pain on one side
General ill feeling
Bloody urine
Inexplicable weight loss
Loss of appetite
The girl is 15.
Is there ANYTHING else this could be? She doesn't get results until next monday.
Please. Answer. Somebody. Now.
Ok, also, some strange bodily noises are being made at the moment..? It's very weird. What the hell?
Answer: It is most likely anything but kidney cancer.
Question: If Kidney Cancer spreads to the lungs, what are the symptoms?
Answer: Renal cell carcinoma, also known by a gurnistical tumor, is the most common form of kidney cancer arising from the renal tubule. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Initial therapy is with surgery. It is notoriously resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, although some cases respond to immunotherapy. Subsequently to be followed with Chemotheraphy and radiation theraphy to ensure no recurrance or spreading of the disease.
The outcome varies depending on the size of the tumor, whether it is confined to the kidney or not, and the presence or absence of metastatic spread. The Furhman grading, which measures the aggressiveness of the tumor, may also affect survival, though the data is not as strong to support this. inspite of all these treatments it may spread to Lungs and in which case it is very dangerous.
If it spreads to Lung and turn to be lung cancer the following sympoms can be seen.
Symptoms that suggest lung cancer include:
-dyspnea (shortness of breath)
-hemoptysis (coughing up blood)
-chronic cough or change in regular coughing pattern
-wheezing
-chest pain or pain in the abdomen
-cachexia (weight loss), fatigue and loss of appetite
-dysphonia (hoarse voice)
-clubbing of the fingernails (uncommon)
-difficulty swallowing
If the cancer grows into the lumen it may obstruct the airway, causing breathing difficulties. This can lead to accumulation of secretions behind the blockage, predisposing the patient to pneumonia.
Many lung cancers have a rich blood supply. The surface of the cancer may be fragile, leading to bleeding from the cancer into the airway. This blood may subsequently be coughed up.
In many patients, the cancer has already spread beyond the original site by the time they have symptoms and seek medical attention. Common sites of metastasis include the bone, such as the spine (causing back pain and occasionally spinal cord compression) and the brain.
If it spreads it is going to be a very difficult proposition and only your Oncologist can advise for further treatments a man on the spot.
So CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGME - Fight it.
Question: kidney cancer? my sister had blood in her urine, and she went to emergency room. They did a CT scan..they found a mass. does anyone know how far along the cancer is when you have blood in your urine? that was her only symptom.
Answer: Blood in the urine does not affect the stage it is a common symptom. Most kidney cancers are localized. The CT would have shown any enlarged lymph nodes.
Question: Anyone with bladder/kidney cancer?First symptom?
Answer: My Mum was diagnosed with kidney cancer last may. She had very few symptoms..... well we didn't think they where anything to worry about.. (It is a silent killer) Mum had extreme night sweats (but it was summer) she had back pain in her side. complained of a 'tired' back. Then she lost weight about 5 kilos (she told us she was eating healthy) The last thing she had was blood in her urine. She then went to the doctor who sent her to a urologist. They found a 5 cm tumor on her right kidney. At first thought they where going to take the kidney out that was before they did a ct scan where they found it had spread to her liver and lung. It was very aggressive. The liver tumor grew from 3cm to 12cm in a month. She pasted away Sept 7 after a 4 month battle aged 60. You just got my life story but the point i am trying to make is if your in doubt see a doctor often there is NO symptoms until its too late.
Question: Is cancer of the kidney common ? What are the symptoms?. It is a silent fear I have as I have had stones twice before and recently keep getting extreme back pain similar to when I had the calculus (stones). But this is more persistent and I keep thinking that my right kidney is a serious problem. I am afraid to go for any deeper investigations really so does anyone know the signs and symptoms of kidney cancer?
My mother had nephritis when I was being carried by her and I definitely have a recurring problem in my right kidney.
Glad Jessy isn't my doctor eh ! ?Would make a typical brit NHS one though. Very reassuring and decisive indeed.
Answer: Its not very common but it's not exactly rare to get it either. You are more like to have kidney disease then kidney cancer. You should get your doctor to order blood and urine tests and also a renal ultrasound at the very least.
Question: worried I have kidney or bladder cancer? Hey guys, I've been in a bad way lately. I've had urinary problems on and off for years usually with burning and frequency, but one morning I woke up about a month ago with quite a bit of rust colored blood in my urine, moderate lower back pain and pain in my sides.. this lasted for 3 days. Then for about 3 weeks I felt pretty good with just some occasional lower back pain, pain in my sides but only when i first woke up and according to my doctor I have constant traces of blood in my urine. Then after that I had another attack just like the one from 3 weeks earilier with rust colored blood in my urine and the moderate pain. There is no infection. I 've seen a few docs about this but they all kind of laugh off the thought of cancer and they say im too young for kidney or bladder cancer..im 24 years old. What does this sound like to you guys? Can cancer symptoms be really bad for a week and then get better and then come back a few weeks later like that or are they usually constant? thnks
Answer: Most kidney cancer is found due to another reason besides pain.
You are young, and more likely to have something such as kidney stones, or glomerulonepritis. Have they even biopsied your kidneys? Have you been treated with antibiotics? Have you been worked up for anything?
Go to the nephrologist. Ask for answers as to why you have hematuria...
If you have pain and hematuria.... don't let yourself get blown off.
Question: Mouth Cancer - Symptoms? I used to smoke - only recreationally. It lasted for about 10 years off and on. I was never a heavy smoker by any means. I MAYBE would finish one pack in a week and a half. It has been at least 2 years since I last smoked. Sometimes I would go 8-10 months without ever smoking. It was a really random thing.
Last year I went to the dentist for a normal check-up and he saw a medium-sized black circle on the skin inside my cheek. He thought I had just bitten my cheek. It was still there when I've been back both times for my latest two teeth cleanings. Could this be a sign of cancer?
My grandpa died of color cancer and my grandma has had kidney cancer (she survived). I think that there is also skin cancer and breast cancer (distantly) in my family. I stopped the social smoking because of this fear. I try to eat healthy and use sunscreen (I also don't go outside much in the summer). I exercise a few times a week. Please help!
Answer: Bluish, blackish, reddish spots in the mouth need to be investigated as potential cancers. If your dentist did not refer you to a specialist then I would suggest you see an ear, nose and throat Dr or an oral surgeon as soon as possible for a potential biopsy. If you look at the link below you will see several photos of spots in the mouth where some of them turned out to be cancer.
http://www.oralcancerfoundation.org/dental/slide_show.htm
If the spot has been there for a year and you are not sick by now then I'm guessing you don't have cancer - however you really need to make sure since mouth cancer is often hard to treat, hard to cure and can be disfiguring. Your dentist should have sent you for an evaluation at the first cleaning where the spot was observed.
Question: Can someone have cancer (originially colon) that has spead to the liver and kidneys yet have no symptoms? One test showed possible cancer spreading, but it seems there are no symptoms...is this a good sign?
Answer: SAadly, it is a popular misconception that if you have cancer you will be ill and have obvious symptoms.
There are about 200 different cancers out there that can attack various parts of our body. They have many different symptoms. Many can be growing and spreading quietly for a long time before symptoms are seen.
Some symptoms must be present to prompt the testing that has been done.
If the Dr suspects cancer, there will be LOTS more testing organised!!!
Question: Cancer and Kidney Stones? After peeing blood for a few weeks, ultrasound showed kidney stones. I have had stacks before.
I also have periods of malaise, fatigue, anemia, chills etc.
Can kidney stones be a symptom of cancer?
Thanks
Answer: This can be due to hypercalcemia - or an increase of calcium in the blood. Have the doctor check your thyroid hormones, all of your symptoms including the kidney stones could be directly related.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothyroidism
Look and see if you have any other symptoms you may be missing.
Osteoporosis would be related to high calcium in the blood.
Low basal body temp would explain the chills.
Muscle cramps and poor tone would explain the malaise.
Anemia and fatigue go hand in hand and are both symptoms.
Question: Bladder Cancer symptoms? My mother is 60, and for the last six months, has had severe pain in her lower abdomen that comes and goes (she doubles up and faints with pain), she has loss of appetite, high white blood cell count, and blood in her urine (not visible, but shows up in tests). She has been to the doctor constantly, and a UTI has been ruled out, but our hospital waiting lists in NZ are so full at the moment that even private patients cannot get tests done without spending months waiting. She won't get tested for cancer until next month, and they're also testing for gall stones and kidney stones. Are her symptoms typical of bladder cancer? Is the six month waiting period to get tested likely to make bladder cancer untreatable if it is cancer? Anyone who's been affected by bladder cancer that can describe their symptoms?
Answer: Bladder cancer characteristically causes blood in the urine; this may be visible to the naked eye or detectable only by microscope. Other possible symptoms include pain during urination, frequent urination or feeling the need to urinate without results. These signs and symptoms are not specific to bladder cancer, and are also caused by non-cancerous conditions, including prostate infections and cystitis.
Diagnosis of bladder cancer is not easy and the symptoms you've described are not very specific. It could be a lot of other things too, like gall stones or kidney stones, she's also being tested for.
The gold standard of diagnosing bladder cancer is urine cytology and transurethral (through the urethra) cystoscopy. Urine cytology can be obtained in voided urine or at the time of the cystoscopy ("bladder washing"). Cytology is very specific (a positive result is highly indicative of bladder cancer) but suffers from low sensitivity (a negative result does not exclude the diagnosis of cancer). There are newer urine bound markers for the diagnosis of bladder cancer. These markers are more sensitive but not as specific as urine cytology. They are much more expensive as well. Many patients with a history, signs, and symptoms suspicious for bladder cancer are referred to a urologist or other physician trained in cystoscopy, a procedure in which a flexible tube bearing a camera and various instruments is introduced into the bladder through the urethra. Suspicious lesions may be biopsied and sent for pathologic analysis.
Question: Does anyone know of a condition that has symptoms similar to endomitriosis other than ovarian cancer or cysts? Ive been checked now for kidney stones, gall stones, appendicitis, ovarian cancer and now endometriosis. They found endo in my left uretur. Now here is my problem. My pain is on my RIGHT side and goes down my right leg. Its a dull pulsing pain that has been causing trouble for 2 years now and they say since the endo is on my left it may not be causing the pain on my right. Does anyone know of a similar condition that exhibits symptoms like endometriosis? They also say that it could be referred pain but I never feel pain on the area where they found a problem. Im desperate! Im so tired of being in anonymous pain!!!
PS by they I mean Gyno dr
Answer: Sounds like they just misidiagnosed/totally missed Endo on the right uterer as well. It is fairly common to have both ureters involved and even more common to have a lesser-skilled doc miss it from there and a lot of other locations. My suggestion is to consult with a highly skilled specialist who truly understands the disease. Many offer records evaluation for free.

Getting help from a true specialist can make a world of difference. Good luck and feel better.
Question: Has anyone had kidney cancer? Has anyone had cancer where its started in the kidney and spread to the surrounding area and a little bit of speckle that has spread to the lungs. Please note: I do cardiovascular exercise 3 times a week and have no Symptoms, only a pain in my side. what is the prognosis in terms of it being cured. What is the procedure.
Answer: My son had cancer of the kidney when he was two years old. One kidney was removed and he is now a healthy eleven year old. He had six months chemotherapy after surgery.
Question: i think i have kidney cancer and im 15 yrs old? in the past two monthes ive gotten 3 kidney pains..we went to the doctor nd found out that its not an infection cus there was no blood cells in my urine. so they said maybe kidney stones but we havent gotten the test done yet...now the pain is in my other kidney and i looked up the symptoms and i have all but one. do you think i could have cancer? should i get the test for stones or cancer or both? please help im only 15 and stones are rare at my age but cancer isent. please help!
thank you
Answer: Stop worrying until you see your test results. The more you panic, the more likely the pain or disease will progress. Did you know the power you have over your body? The more optimistic you are, the more likely it'll go away, whatever it is.
It may simply be nothing. You should get both checked anyway, just for precautions. Don't think any more about it until you have your results.
So basically, snap out of it.
Best of luck.
Question: What do these symptoms mean? Cancer question? Hia,
A friend of mine had their kidney removed last year as they had cancer in it. At the time lots of tests were run, and it was found the cancer had not spread anywhere else. Now, though, they are in a lot of pain in the area they had the kidney removed. What could this mean? Is it the cancer back again? Or could it be something to do with the scar tissue after surgery? Please help, I'm really worried.
Thanks.
Answer: It could mean pain from many different causes not related to the cancer, or it could be recurrence of the malignancy. It is probably not the scar tissue causing pain. The asumption people often make is that pain close to where a cancer has been must be the cancer. I have seen people with cancers and leukemia who then had gall stones or kidney stones or other causes of pain totally unrelated to the original malignancy.
We cannot tell you from here. He should be evaluated with CT scans through the chest and upper abdomen and possibly a bone scan as well since renal carcinomas like to spread to bone, But he or she should also be evaluated for other non-malignant causes for pain in that area. Doctors should always remember that cancer patients are people too - they can develop any problem a regular person may have.
