Question: cancer and jugular veins? prognosis? what would happen if larynx cancer invaded the jugulars?
i know somebody whose had laryngeal cancer for 2 years, he's an elderly man and it has already grown adjacent to the spine and up the sinus area, im pretty sure his lymph nodes in the neck are already invaded. the doc says its very possible for the cancer to invade the jugs
if that happened would it just slowly cut off blood flow?
im not asking for a doctor on here but if anybody has had a relative with laryngeal cancer and they were of older age 60+, how long did they live?
Answer: I saw people with advanced laryngeal cancers for 20 years.
None of them had actual invasion of the jugular veins.
The cervical lymph nodes involved with the malignancy could push on the veins.
It is unlikely that the cancer would rupture the wall of the vein as some lung cancers erode into pulmonary arteries and cause sudden catastrophic bleeding.
No one - no doctor - can tell you how long anyone has to live.
We can usually guess fairly well in the last few days when the end is obvious - but that is the extent of our prediction accuracy for any one individual. No two people are ever exactly alike.
