Liver Cancer Prevention
Question: prevention for liver cancer? Well, a very dear friend of mine has liver cancer, and I want to help prevent it from getting worse. What treatments should he do? What foods/activities should he avoid?
My friend's 14 years old, and he's not into alcohol.
Answer: Definitely avoid drinking alcohol other than that I don't know.
Update: Ouch thought it was someone older. Follow the doctors instructions as far as diet goes. Do whatever they feel up to doing probably nothing too strenuous I imagine they probably tire easily.
Question: How can I go about changing the color of a specific cause's Awareness Ribbon? As most of you probably know, the colors of the Awareness Ribbons cover MANY different causes! For example, the yellow ribbon represents Adoptive Parents, Deployed Soldiers, Endometriosis, Equality, Hope, Liver Cancer, Liver Disease, Missing Children, Missing Persons, Suicide Prevention, Testicular Cancer, and Childhood Cancer... Is there a way that an individual can change the color for a specific cause? If so, HOW? Who or what organization do I need to address? I'm at a loss here, so I thought I'd see if anyone else has tried (or succeeded) at this same task.
intel~ yes, this clearly IS a serious question.

Answer: It certainly is disheartening to see the amount of pessimism and rudeness on these boards. If people don't know the answer, why do they feel the need to put something rude on this board? Does it make them feel better or is it just because they are anonymous and it's funny to make other people feel stupid for their serious questions.
Anyways, I'm done venting. I would suggesting calling the head of whatever organization you are referring to and use that as your jumping off point. I think you'll have a tough road ahead of you but good for you for getting so involved. The majority of people just sit back and complain and whine about something instead of taking action. It seems there should be someone out there who can provide some direction for you whether it be an attorney or the head of the organization you are referring to. Good luck with everything!
Question: Have you been screened for Hepatitis B infection? Because over 10% of the Asian and Pacific Islander population is chronically infected with Hepatitis B, all members of this community should be screened.
The screening test will determine the presence of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg). If this is positive for more than 6 months, then further testing is needed.
If the HBsAg is negative, then Hepatitis B Vaccination should be considered.
Who is chronically infected with Hepatitis B?
1 of every 8 Vietnamese
1 of every 10 Chinese
1 of every 12 Korean
Of these, 1 in 4 (25%) will die from liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma or HCC) or liver failure.
Have you been tested and vaccinated for Hepatitis B?
To identify pregnant hepatitis B carriers in time to protect their babies, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends routine testing of all pregnant women.

Question: why does this country permit alcohol to be drunk? Alcohol causes so many problems to a human being, headaches, stomach aches, kills brains cells, gives liver cancer, it also causes many problems to society, puts one in an unstable state where they can not control themselves and can act miliciously to other human beings, get in a car and kill someone or themself, deface public property, and note that it can effect soicety even more deeply, to put a drunken person in prison or holding costs tax payers money, oney that could better be spent, when police have to patrol certain areas know to have a high drunken rate this costs tax payers money and also detains police from doing there job elswhere. It can be the cause of domestic violence, adultery which can lead to even more problems, a kid not knowing there father, and this can effect him tremendously without a male role model, i ask you why not cut the problem off by the root in the form of a detterant, no alcohol, if we where to ask our political leaders, what would there arguement be? there is no strong arguement against it. In the 1920's america tried to ban alcohol, they did it for a short time but failed, in this time there where many deaths by police and also where people tried to make there own alcohol, eventually the american governent couldnt do it and allowed the consumption of alcohol, doesnt it feel degrading as a human being to not even be able to control yourself in a drunken state, doesnt it feel degrading as a human being to be dependent on such a thing? Now theese countires that so often claim to be chrisitan countires dont seem to read there bibles, considering there being many copies, im not all that suprised, but check this out, "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging; and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."
[Proverbs 20:1] "And be not drunk with wine."
[Ephesians 5:18] Alcohol inhibits the inhibitory centre, this basically is the part of the brain that keeps you from doing wrong and it gets switched off with the consumption of alcohol, basically you turn into an animal, a little devil, note that most alcoholics started as social drinkers and it only takes one time to get drunk to do something you will regret for the rest of youre life, earn some pride, is this how people have fun to become so intoxicated they dont even know who they are, are yuou that insecure that you have to teporarily loose youre memory to do something brave? I would go so far as to say if a religion allows the consumption of alcohol then this is not a religion from God and if a way or social structure allows the consumption of alcohol then there is a huge whole in this structure that will leak with the remains of drunken, disturbed and unguided nation seemingly hoping for peace in society but fueling its downfall. A pinch of prevention is worth an ounce of cure.
Answer: New Labour

Fitness goals would be.... C. Think about it - substantial weight loss (sorry, read it as sustainable first) fad diets, and fast-food diets are not good goals
All could be causes for back problems, but my guess would be A - muscular weakness as this is the only answer that health/fitness can affect.
And HBP is a major risk factor for stroke (B)

Question: Testosterone Deaths???Where??? I have been taking testosterone injections for about 5months. I take 200mg every three days. I am under close doctor supervision. I have read and talked with my doctor about the very few and minor side effects that testosterone has. 1. Male pattern baldness 2. Acne 3. Accelerates prostate cancer (not causes) 4. minor shrinkage of the testicles Injections cause little or no harm on your liver, it’s the oral (pill) form because you liver needs to break it down.
If you read and research about fatalities caused by testosterone you will find zero. This based upon factually medical information, not just some silly anti-steroid blog or a stupid rumor.
Now read the medical journals and literature about the benefits of taking testosterone. “THE BENEFITS ARE HUGE!!!” Benefiting people with diabetes, osteoporosis, low libido, decreased energy, Alzheimer’s (I for one would never want to see a love one be diagnosed with) and many other benefits and preventions.
We as a society need to forget the “it happen to a friend of a friend of mine” stories and realize that this is a very beneficial drug to most people.
Remember talk to your doctor first, because there is some fake illegal testosterone that will hurt you, and if you are using go in for regular prostate exams and blood work. I think the blood test is called “PSA”
Feel free to reply
Jeffery C.
Answer: OK and your point? Your supposed to ask questions here, not tell stories.
Your also forgetting something, the benefits are mostly to people who have low testosterone levels, not normal testosterone levels.
I'm at a loss here, so I thought I'd see if anyone else has tried (or succeeded) at this same task.
I would totally agree with that.... However, I'm trying to support a cause another way. I don't buy ribbons. I DO wear colors. Last week, a game show had everyone wearing pink. Yes, I knew it was for breast cancer. It's awareness. Visual association is often important to a cause, for some people.
I don't want to get into an opinion debate on Yahoo Answers, because that's not what this is about. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any avenues I could take. Currently, we are doing many other things to benefit both our local hospital as well as the national cause. The Awareness Ribbon is just another facet of the cause...
Answer: My mother has pancreatic cancer, and so I recently learned that our color is grey! GREY! I mean, I know that the pancreas is grey and not a very pretty organ, but COME ON!!
I've also thought about finding a way to change our "represented" color. This is my thought -- there is no overarching organization that "owns" the colors, meaning that there isn't some sort of government group that hands out the colors and keeps track to make sure that there is an even distribution along the spectrum. :) (Funny idea, through.)
I don't know what your specific cause might be, but let's take Lung Cancer, for instance. (It happens to be "pearl".) I would contact the non-profit organization that is most respected and renouned in that specific issue. In this case, it happens to be the American Lung Association. Talk to their marketing people about your views and why you think that...oh...I don't know...violet is a better color than pearl.
Depending upon how much they are sold on pearl, have set up pearl marketing campaigns, etc, and how much the general population already associates the disease with pearl, they are more likely to change their view and start using violet instead. Since they are the most respected, they sort of de facto change the color scheme, and everyone else will fall in line.
If, however, a certain disease just sort of "owns" a certain color (red - AIDS, pink - breast cancer, yellow - veterans) the likelihood of changing it is very very unlikely.

Panda~
I can't e-mail you, so I hope you return to this question to see this. Thank you for your candid response, and for the insight you gave. I will try these avenues in the hope that I succeed! For the record, I'm not sure what type of cancer your son has ~ but my best friend's teen daughter just passed away from Osteosarcoma. This is a very rare form of cancer that, incidentally, has affected 3 girls in our small city. I am passionate about the issue, and want other parents to be aware of the disease! Granted, I was not 'passionate' before it affected my personal circle, but that's often the way it works... I hope that your son continues to be a SURVIVOR and kicks his cancer to the curb! Now I'm off to do some more research based on your leads.
Thank you!
Answer: You can do anything that you please. None of the Awareness Ribbons are etched in stone . . other than possibly the pink ribbon for breast cancer, red ribbon for AIDS, and the yellow wristband for all cancers. The rest were just basically made up by various organizations or single individuals like yourself. So, I am not sure exactly what you had in mind. My son has a rare cancer so as a group we all decided on dark blue wristbands. My son's class in high school decided to honor him with an orange wrist band with his name on it.
So, you can do just about anything you please and not worry about anything 'official' . . although it helps to get other people on board with it too.
I'm not really sure by your question what your intention would be here . . if you are a member of a group that wants to bring awareness to a specific type of cancer than contact members of the group for a discussion. It really depends on what you are trying to do . . if its just for you than anything goes . . if it involves a group than you need to contact members of the group for their feedback.
As an interesting tidbit . . the original color for breast cancer awareness was a peach colored ribbon. It was changed to pink when the creator of the ribbon couldn't reach an aggreement with the Estee Lauder Cosmetic company . . they wanted to promote her ribbon for breast cancer research. The original creator, Charlotte Haley, did not want to commercialize breast cancer and refused the offer. (turns out she was right to be concerned about the marketing).
