Liver Cancer Therapy
Question: Is Liver cancer/serious disorder completely cure with juice therapy or some other natural therapys?
Answer: No. I'm sorry, there are no 'natural therapies' that are proven to cure cancer.
Natural or alternative in this context simply mean unproven.
There are always people eager to part desperate and vulnerable people from their cash in exchange for ineffective therapies.
If you are tempted by any alternative therapies, please do a search on http://www.quackwatch.com/ before investing money, hope and - most dangerous of all - time in an ineffective and possibly dangerous treatment
Question: liver cancer? A friend of mine found out he had liver cancer 2 days ago. (Hes only 15) hes currently in a hosptial in england(he lives in ireland) he got a 5lb tumour removed from his liver. He had not been feeling well for about 5 months before he found out, hes coming back to ireland in a few days hes going back to his house then hes going for some chemo therapy, is this a good sign that hes going home? i dont have a clue about liver cancer, whats the risk of death? If he started feeling ill 5 months before they found out does it sound like they caught it soon enough?
Answer: Like you i don't know very much about liver cancer however, I'm dealing with an inoperable liver tumor also. They told us about ten yrs ago about it. I'm dealing with it along with some other issues. I know that transplants can be done and that the liver is one organ that can regenerate itself. My oldest sister has a daughter who is in her mid to late 30's now told when she was about 2 she had some kind of liver troubles. At the time they said she would never make it past her teens or have any kids. She has surpassed them both. We was also told that this illness caused her belly to extend out to which my brother and I had the same thing, we are both in our 50's now. Who would ever thought we would make it that far.
The medical field can do some very great things now days for I have gone though three brain surgeries and I'm still here among us. 50 yrs ago I would have one passed. So yes it is great that they found it early and he can go home and is taken treatment. Can they cure it? They say they can at least slow it done or put it into remission. For how long who knows 5 yrs 10 yrs or maybe just long enough for him or his family to get his affairs in order(which all of us need to do)I had to some day we are all going to meet our maker now I have had my things pretty much in place since the last golf war. Sorry to read of your friend deli ma I hope him all the best.
Question: can radiation therapy cure/kill cancer of the liver ?
Answer: External beam radiation is difficult to use with liver cancer due to the sensitivity of the normal liver. It is difficult to deliver significantly high enough doses to kill the cancer in the liver without damaging the rest of the normal tissue.
So, just a few years ago there was limited treatment for liver cancer, but that has significantly changed. There are now other treatments some based on radiation therapy, others not that have been effective. Treatment for liver cancer depend on the stage of the disease and whether it is a primary or secondary cancer.
Surgery is not always ruled out in the case of liver cancer. The liver is able to regenerate itself and surgery is performed using a laser that will seal any type of bleeding as they go along. So surgery is an option for liver cancer patients. But many patients are now being treated with RFA, chemoembolization, and proton therapy.
Some of the new tools now used to control or eliminate liver tumors include:
Proton Beam Therapy - a type of radiation that can be tightly controlled to deliver high dose radiation precisely to the correct location. There is far more control using the proton beam since it can now focus directly on the tumor and spare the surrounding tissue. Not all liver cancer patients are candidates for this treatment.

Radiofrequency Ablation - Long thin electrode wires are guided by CT into a tumor, a current is sent through the wire and heats the tumor which is than 'ablated' or 'disintegrates'. This is non-invasive tool can be done on smaller symetrically shaped nodules and tumors.
RFA of Liver Tumors
http://www.radiologyinfo.org/en/info.cfm?pg=rfa&bhcp=1
Chemoembolization - a cathetar is used to deliver high dose chemotherapy directly into the liver (instead of systemically)
Chemoembolization of the liver
http://www.radiologyinfo.org/en/info.cfm?PG=chemoembol
There are other treatments including cryoblation, isolated liver perfusion, alcohol injection, laser photocoagulation, radiation beads, and in some cases liver transplant.
Not all patients are candidates for these treatments so they should be discussed with the oncologist as possible options.
Question: How long can a person live with cancer in her panicus & now is going into her liver? She gets weaker evey day. The cancer is wrapped around the blood vessels,so if they operate she only has a 10% change of living through it. It`s gone into the liver now. Therapy isn`t working ,just gets her sicker & weaker by the day.
Answer: Do you mean pancreas? Pancreatic cancer which is now spreading to the liver?
First of, my most sincere condolences.
In cases where cancer is spreading, either locally or through metastises (distant spread), surgery generally isn't an option, as there is only so much you can cut out. If she isn't responding to chemotherapy or radiation treatment, it is likely that her time left is very limited. Particularly if it is spreading. There is no hard and fast rule on survival lengths for tumors like you've described, but based on the limited information you've given, and not knowing anything else about her case, I'd say less than six months maximum, and probably shorter than that.
If treatment isn't working, it's time to accept the inevitable and make her last days with you as comfortable and enjoyable as you can. Consider looking into hospice programs, which are absolutely wonderful. Other palliative care options are available as well. Talk to her and be there for her, but do not build false hope and do not count on a miracle happening. Be strong, honest, and emotional, it's very difficult dealing with someone dying, but they need you there with them. Best of luck.
Question: liver cancer patients who want cure without operations ? I'm a Japanese man. (once, I was a radio operator of showa base in antarctica) I can introduce the healer who can cure the liver cancer without surgical operations. He can do without radiations or much medicines. He can use and send his own strong powers to you from Japan. Also you may continue your present medical treatment. He wish not over 10 patients for therapy at the same time. May be unbelievable, but It is truth!
Answer: There are few lower human behaviours than promising cancer patients some sort of "miracle cure" and trying to make money off of them. The only effective way to treat liver cancer without surgery is by standard chemotherapy or immunotherapy techniques.
I send my strong powers to you in hope that they will cure you of your delusions and evil intent to profit from the sick, but I fear they will be no more effective than your "healer"'s!
Question: Can Anti cancer medicine cause fatty liver? can Breast Cancer anti cancer medicine such as Arimidex Therapy for 10 years cause fatty liver?
Answer: Arimidex is a hormonal treatment and these generally don't have serious side effects (although 10 years is a REALLY long time to be on it).
This assumes no allergies and the patient has been taking as directed, including little or no alcohol consumption.
Many things, from thyroid disease to chemo, can cause fatty liver.
Question: Question about Liver Cancer? My Grandmother was just diagnosed with liver cancer. She is 83 years old and they have already determined that she is not a good candidate for radiation therapy, chemo or a transplant. She is not in any pain and seems to be fine. How long can she survive and what are the other treaments she may seek?
Oh and she was diagnosed with hepatitis-c many years ago and stopped drinking.
I am pretty scared.
Answer: There is a fairly new thing out now that can pinpoint the
radiation to one area only and it will not hurt the
surrounding tissue and has less side effects. I heard
about them using this for cancer or tumors in the brain,
but someone told me they are starting to use this
for other areas also. It is known as Gamma Knife.
It isn't a knife, it is radiation given in a precise area.
http://www.radiologyinfo.org/en/info.cfm?PG=gamma_knife&bhcp=1
She might be able to have this, which would be easier
on her. Considering her age. The best anyone can do
is not put her through too much...she should be able
to relax and be well taken care of now.
There are many things that the Area of the Aging provide
for someone your Grandma age. You would have to
type in what state you are in and then Area of the Aging or
you could call your local one in your area. Your grandma
could also apply for Hospice through her doctor. That way
she could be at home and the nurses would be able to
check on her and give her pain medication there, if
she ever needs it. The nurses at hospice will work right
with her doctor.
There are so many factors to consider when asking someone
how long they have left. Mostly, the doctors are really the
only ones that can give an estimate on that. It depends on
how many other conditions she has, how she responded to
any treatment she has had, how strong her heart is, how
much cancer she has and if it is the agressive kind, how her
blood work results look, and many other things.
You mentioned that she had hepatitis c...this means her
liver has inflammation caused by a virus. Inflammation
of the liver can lead to death of the liver cells known as
cirrhosis. Having cancer with this, doesn't look very
promising. I wish I could be more uplifting and give
you some good news.
The only thing I can tell you is that if she is not with a
hepatologist now, she should be. They are the ones that
specialize in the liver and have done research in the field.
I don't think it will change the outcome, but they might be
able to suggest more in medications that would help
to keep her comfortable.
Best Wishes....
Question: Can a human live without a liver ?? my dad had liver cancer !? hello every one please it's an emergency state ..
My dad recently diagnosed as liver cancer on top of chronic hepatitis B virus .. the liver show marked cirrhosis & portal vein affection .!! I'm just thinking why can't we remove the un functioning liver permanently ?? T o protect other organs and continued take the vitamins & bile salts + essential elements orally ?? please answer me
you know there's no either surgical ttt nor radio therapy !!
I had head about ( nexavar recently ) as the only hope !
Answer: Wow, brand new account. Sounds like a troll to me. However, the answer is NO, a person can not live for long without a functioning liver. The reason are toxins which the liver metabolizes and removes from the body. Alcohol, for example, is a poison which the liver turns into a sugar. There is no substitute for the function of the liver, which is unlike the kidney which has dialysis which performs the same function as a kidney, but not nearly so well. Without a functioning liver, you die in relatively short order.
Question: Is there a way to cure liver cancer in my puppy? She had her tumor and spleen removed but the cancer had already spread to the liver. The cancer is called splenic hemengiosacosis and they have given my puppy less than 2 month to live. But I refuse to let that come true so I need some way to fix her, maybe chemo + holistic/herbal therapies. If you're reading this, you will see that my other question that has to do with my cat, and yes, in a matter of a few months, I'm having to deal with cainine cancer and feline diabetes, renal failure, and hyperthyroidism. My heart feels like it's dying a little bit more everday. I just need some help to save my kids... please
Answer: I am just heart broken about your puppy, but it does not sound good. There is likely nothing you can do except make your puppy comfortable and spend as much time as you can making her feel loved while you can. Please do not let her suffer...when the time comes do the humane thing and let her go. You have a good heart and this is just not fair, but life deals you a bad hand every now and then. Give yourself some time to grieve and then get anonther puppy to love. You deserve to have one.
Question: does taking too much vitamins damage the liver? my mother has stage 4 breast cancer, she finished her targeted therapy 3 months ago, which clears the mass in her liver. her liver function tests also improved and within normal limits. just this week, she noticed a discoloration in her urine,a urine test showed a +4 in bilirubin. an ultrasound scan showed a normal liver. my mother is taking about 6 vitamins daily, including a Bcomplex.
Answer: it could be something to do with her kidneys ! I take B complex ( which is good for stress ) but it never effected me . Maybe if some of her vitamins contain any sort of alcohol or a complex molecule with an OH attached to it , then they could be damaging her liver or it could just be a simple infection , her immune system could be down at the minute and maybe her defense system isn't fighting it .
Question: Can you survive stage 4 breast cancer? I just found out that my aunt has moved up to stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her liver, lymnode, leg, neck etc. I don't know much about cancer and all I really want to know is what is the survival rate when you've reached stage 4? The doctors plan on Chemo therapy.
Answer: Stage 4 breast cancer has spread beyond the breast and nearby lymph nodes to other parts of the body.
In stage IV breast cancer, the cancer has spread elsewhere in the body. Affected areas may include the bones, brain, lungs, or liver. Because multiple areas may be involved, focused treatments like surgery or radiation alone are not sufficient. So far, treatment of stage IV breast cancer does not provide a cure for the disease. By shrinking the cancer, treatment can slow down the disease, make you feel better, and let you live longer. Although patients with stage IV breast cancer may live for years, it is usually life-threatening at some point. Many factors influence this
* Chemotherapy , or treatment with cancer drugs, is often the main treatment. It can slow down the growth of the cancer. Chemotherapy is often used in combination with hormone therapy or immunotherapy.
* Hormone therapy can be key for women with hormone receptor-positive cancers. These are cancers that need hormones to grow. Tamoxifen has been used to block the effects of estrogen for decades. But newer drugs, like the aromatase inhibitors Arimidex and Femara, and the aromatase inactivator Aromasin, also show great promise. They reduce the amount of estrogen your body makes. By cutting off the supply of estrogen, you can choke the cancer and slow it down. Women who haven't reached menopause may consider having their ovaries removed to stop them from making hormones that help cancer grow.
* Biological therapy is a new approach. In about 25% of women with breast cancer, an excess of a protein known as HER2 makes the cancer spread quickly. Herceptin is a new drug that's been approved to treat women with metastatic breast cancer that is HER2-positive. It stops this protein from making the cancer cells grow. It may also boost your immune system, giving it the strength to fight the cancer itself. It is most often used in combination with chemotherapy.
* Clinical trials are open to many women with stage IV cancer. A clinical trial may allow you access to cutting-edge treatments. Many new therapies -- new drugs, new treatments, and new combinations -- are in clinical trials now. Keep in mind that any successful treatment we have now started out in a clinical trial.
* Surgery and radiation are used in some cases. These treatments aren't used to cure the cancer. But they may help treat pain and other symptoms in areas where the cancer has spread.
* Other drugs may also help treat some of the side effects of breast cancer treatment, such as nausea, fatigue, and infections.
Question: Can Mangosteen reduce the effect of Nexavar? I read that Mangosteen might help against Liver Cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma), because it has xanthone which has potent cytotoxic effect against hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines. As per: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=pubmed&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=AbstractPlus&list_uids=12451486&query_hl=1&itool=pubmed_docsum
Mom has HCC and she is on Nexavar, if she takes Magosteen juice can it reduce the effect of Nexavar?
I was bit worried as I read in:
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/ETO/content/ETO_5_3x_Mangosteen_Juice.asp?sitearea=ETO
Because of antioxidant effects, mangosteen supplements might interfere with radiation therapy or chemotherapy, possibly making these treatments less effective.
Answer: I think that it's worth a shot drinking it. I doubt that any drink could have any effect on chemo. I mean, it can't be that strong. Unless they specifically tell you not to drink that juice, go right ahead.
I would post this question under Health and Diseases. This section is for questions about coffee, tea, and coke. good luck.
Question: Will you pray for me? Because I have an inoperable and rare intestinal cancer that metastasized to my liver...? and every time I just know and have faith that the tumors will stop growing or that they will shrink, etc. they never do. Every time I start up a new therapy it doesn't work and because my faith was so high and because i was so confident and positive every time I pray or worship, or start a new therapy, etc. the devestation is that much greater when things go badly. It's really starting to take it's toll. I notice that i am in less emotional pain and confusion when i do not have so much faith. Now, I have started to have to go to a different specialist in a different state. I have to move my son out of his school and move closer to that hospital, away from my friends (I have no family other than my son and aging father). I know i have to keep believing, but it doesn't seem good for me. Maybe is there someone out there to pray and believe for me? There are many many people who are doing the same in my churches and elsewhere, but I thought I'd post here too....
I wish it were part of God's plan, because I just wanted to do so much for God's glory and to help make this world a better place.
Thank you, Rosie...
I've fasted before and kept believing, but that's still a good idea.
Thank you all, for your prayers and compassion.
I'll never give up on God, but I don't like having so much faith and then being devestated over and over when things keep going badly. I wish only that God would give me the conditions to grow faith and not have it die. Nevertheless, I will continue to believe in Jesus and follow Him, because I like and I believe in what He taught: unconditional and selfless love.
I thank you all for your answers and prayers. I very much appreciate them, I truly do... may God bless all of you richly.
Answer: to me God is the creater of all beings and his plan is for us to to show compassion to one another. Death is the cycle of life until we rejoin with God. Do not fear death. It is inevitable!
Let go of all fears. This does not mean stop fighting the sickness. Fight it but do not let it be your life. Do not let it become your God.
Sickness, disease, plague, violence is apart of this life. It has to be accepted. It is not a punishment for non believers, evil doers, the unsaved or chastisement for past of present sins.
Live with love and compassion toward yourself and others. Thank you for giving us the oppurtunity to show you love and compassion as you share your troubles with us. I will pray that you have peace and enlightenment. That you are alleviated of your fears and love life.
God did not give you this sickness, and it is not of any evil spirit. If you think that your physical life is coming to an end please share love to all those in your presence, make amends to any you harmed, become more compassionate ( not to say that you aren't) and this can even help soothe with ails you.
If you live then you will be more joyous and greatful in life, and if you move on you will have taught many a valuable lesson. Do not let your sickness rob you of peace.
Love, sharif :)
Question: I am researching alternative therapies. Has anyone used Artemisinin or Ukrain to treat Cancer? My wife has been battleing breast cancer for 7 years or so and Femarra seemed to stop it . All of a sudden since the last scan 3 months ago it has spread into other parts of the body: spine, lymph nodes, hips and it is in the liver. It did not show up on the scan 6 months ago and barely showed up 3 months ago. It was so dim three months ago they were not even sure it was cancer. At the time they thought it might have been scar tissue from surgery. I want to be prepared with back up suggestions should the new estrogen blocker fail.Any suggestions, experiences, prayers would be greatly appreciated.
Answer: I'm very sorry to hear of your wife's battle with breast cancer. It is disconcerting to say the least to learn her cancer is back and spreading and my heart goes out to you both.
The Yahoo answers groups are full of people pushing various multi-level-marketing products which run about 100. a month. I suggest you ignore anyone who says that whatever they are selling will or might cure your wife.
Spend time with your wife. Express your love for her and if you have children help them understand what is happening, but unless you have money to burn, don't spend your precious time chasing miracles. If you want a miracle, pray to your higher power.
I apologize if I sound blunt but I've never seen anyone with advanced cancer improve after using any of these supplement cancer cures, regardless of how fancy their website or claims might be. Cancer is not an immune dysfunction and it can not be corrected with diet, herbs or vitamins. There is no magic bullet or secret cancer cure. Kevin Trudeau's book is an interesting read if you have food allergies or other very minor ailments, but if you depend on this type info for cancer treatment, this you will be sorely disappointed. Here is a web page with info on various alternative treatments published by the NIH. This will be more accurate than anything you will hear from someone trying to sell you a supplement. best to you both

Answer: When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).
Question: Question about cancer? I just got a call three days ago that my 62 year old healthy friend has cancer. They do not know where to begin, and what this all means. He has stage 4 cancer that has spread to his liver, both lungs, lymph nodes, spine and brain. He started radiation, and they assume they will do some chemo therapy. What does this mean, where to begin, what questions to ask etc etc.
Answer: You didn’t say what kind of cancer it is, but it is a stage 4 and is not curable. Nothing else can be said without more information.
If he has started radiation the radiation oncologist would have explained everything to him before his treatment started. If he still has questions that is who they should be directed to.
