Liver Cancer Types
Question: Know of a doctor/hospital that specializes in fibrolamellar carcinoma, a type of liver cancer? Fibrolamellar carcinoma is a rare type of liver cancer that is generally not associated with hepatitis B/C infection. It is a subtype of hepatocellular carcinoma that affects younger people. I am looking for a doctor or a hospital that has experience treating this type of cancer. Guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Answer: Philadelphia Childrens Hospital in Center City deals with all kinds of children's cancer. Temple; Drexel University and the Shriner's Hosptial are for chilren and all are in CenterCcity .
Question: Prognosis for early stage secondary liver cancer? My aunt has recently been diagnosed as having bowel cancer. They found a 2 inch tumor in the large intestine. A CT scan has since shown the cancer has just begun to spread to the liver. The liver has some spots on one side of it. The dr's are going to treat it with chemotherapy. Does anyone know prognosis statistics for this type of cancer?
Answer: I am sorry to tell you, but an “early stage secondary liver cancer” is an oxymoron and not correct. Your aunt does not have liver cancer at all she has a stage 4 colon cancer. The 5 year survival rate is about 5%.
Question: Is liver cirrhosis a type of liver cancer?
Answer: NO
Question: Is there a type of liver cancer?
Answer: hepatocarcinoma - originated from the hepatocytes - is the most frequent type but they are anothers with less frequency
Question: what are some of the worst types of cancer? my friend was just reciently diagnosed with liver cancer and i was wondering how bad it really is and if she is going to survive nd please tell me the truth. The docters don't know how far along the cancer is yet so they are going to try kemo but they are not sure if it is going to work.
please tell me the truth
Answer: There really aren't any 'good' cancers . . but actually it isn't really the type of cancer that is the 'worst' . . it is the stage of the cancer when found that is the worst. If any type of cancer is found in an 'early stage' than there is usually treatment that will be effective against it. As the cancer progresses from stage 1 (early cancer is tiny and small) to stage 2 (cancer is larger) to stage 3 (cancer large and more than two) to stage 4 (cancer large, more than two, and has become metastatic). It is stage 4 metastatic cancer that makes cancer deadly . . when a tumor reaches a certain size it begins to replicate new tumors by shedding hundreds and hundreds of microscopic cancer cells into the blood stream. These invisible cancer cells can travel anywhere in the body, lodge in the brain, lungs, liver, or anywhere and start a new cancer colony. It is metastasis that is the worst of any cancer type.
Survival would depend on the type of liver cancer (there are subtypes), location of the disease, stage of the cancer, grade of the tumor, the patients age and overall health. Every single cancer patient is different so there is no way to know if your friend will respond or not to treatment.
There is treatment for liver cancer and there are survivors of the disease. Would suggest your friend join the Liver Cancer Support group which can provide her with information and resources . . most of these patients follow the current treatment options available and can guide your friend better than anyone here:

Question: my mother in law is 6o years old has smoked for years and has type 2 diabetes, has she got liver cancer? she has been told after numerous tests that she has lesions on her liver and some on her lung the docs have told her that there is huge chance of cancer. she looks to me to be slightly jaundice and has fluid build up in her ankles and feet has loss of appetite. does anyone have any info or advice on what they think and how advanced it is and if there is anything she can do to slow it we are waiting on results from endoscopy , and praying Any info please????
Answer: I’m sorry Joanne, but it isn’t possible for someone to slow down cancer on their own. She may not have liver cancer as often presents as a solitary lesion. Multiple lesions are more consistent with metastatic disease. Lung mets usually show as multiple lesions as well, most of the time at the base of the lungs. Doctors do not know how to treat her until they know what kind of cancer they are dealing with and it sounds like that is what they are doing now.
Question: please answer "Liver - cancer or not"? here is MRI result
finding: T1 iso to hypointense mass is present at the liver dome, Internal septation is present on the out of phase sequence, it is hyperintense. compatible with complex cyst with proteinanceous fluid.
Impression: liver dome denign complex cystic w/septation and proteinaceous material, compatible w/ biliary cystadenoma.
Question: Please answer with simple words. Is it cirrhosis? Is it a type of Cancer? Is it just a cyst?
Thank you.
Answer: Doesnt sound like cancer to me, liver cancer is almost always a secondary cancer which means it has travelled from another organ. You would see words like metastases and malignancy......... How do i know because my Mum died from kidney cancer that spread to her liver.and i read all her clinical notes. But you need to see your doctor i dont know why you havent already if you have the notes??
Question: What is the worst type of cancer? I've heard that liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, and blood cancers are the worst, but what do you think?
I'm really curious. I personally think that liver cancer is the worst. It's super painful.
Answer: Pancreatic cancer is the worst form of cancer. My mother died from Ovarian cancer. That is painful too. Cancer is my biggest fear! It is the one thing I hope I never develop. Someday, we will look back at cancer the way we do at TB; deadly, but curable.
Question: what was the name of the water that is shown to cure 35% of liver cancer cells ? i heard about it on ABC news a few nights ago. Can someone tell me the name of that type of water, it comes from outside the u.s.
Answer: its called Deeside Mineral Water its from Balmoral, Scotland
Question: what type of fungus do water fowl eat when they get liver cancer?
Answer: I found a primary article talking about Cyanobacterial blooms causing liver cancer in China. It is mentioned in the first paragraph of the main body. Hope this helps!
Question: What types of foods can cause cancer or other diseases? I've been reading articles that tell about some foods that can prevent or cause cancer. I don't know if they are true. So, does grilledchicken, fries, hotdogs, hamburgers, ham, liver, sausages, fried chicken, pepperoni pizza, soy, undercooked meats, onions, garlic, cafeteria food, egg rolls, chicken nuggets, salad, barbecue cause cancer?? Help!
Answer: Cancer can be triggered by all sorts of factors. We all have the potential to develop it. It can be brought about by certain cancer triggers or carcinogens , Barbecuing or charcoal roasting food particularly meat a lot can be a carcinogen , smoking, drinking to excess, excessive consumption of meat, GMO foods, Exposure to Nuclear waste, living near an nuclear power plant, genetic pre disposition etc, etc. (I personally don't eat meat at all or smoke) but breast cancer runs in my mum's side of the family . Just enjoy your life honey, please don't worry about cancer. Worry is another carcinogen .
Just don't do anything to excess. Unfortunately I don't think we can avoid our lives being touched by cancer or the heartache and suffering it causes. All we can do is hope for a cure in the future.
On the plus side look for food containing lycopenes, they can help to prevent cancers, two examples are fresh tomato's and tomato ketchup!
Best regards, hope that helped.
Question: Does Lupus cause liver problems and is it a type of cancer?
Answer: Liver and kidney problems. No, it is not cancer.
Question: Is it possible to have brain, lung, and liver cancer all at once ? Because my friend says he just found out he has 3 Different types of cancers at once after waking up from a coma from a car crash. . .
WTF ?
I don't know if I believe him, but I'd feel really bad if it was true.
Is that even possible ?
& he says he doesn't know much about it because his family didn't want to tell him because it would worry him,
and i said that they would HAVE to tell you because they would have to do treatment early to try to stop it.
they cant just not tell you,
and then he was like 'i had it for months'
wtf, this is confusing.
Answer: It is possible to have these three cancers at once, but extremely unlikely. To have them at once might suggest that they all stemmed from the once cancer left untreated. If this was the case he would have been very sick for a long time.
Question: Do you know any website where they give you tips and things to do everyday when living with cancer? Question: my gma has stage 4 liver cancer? My husbands gma is 96 and has been diagnosed with stage 4 liver metastasis, large quantities of tumors in her lungs and swolen lymph nodes. she is going to a skilled nursing facility and is also going to be starting hospice care while there, as she has requested there be no treatment given. The dr. said the outlook is anywhere from 2 mo - 1 yr, but we live 1000 miles away and didn't know if there was even a smaller time frame we are looking at. She is already suffered huge weight loss and is yellowing, however the dr said it was a "slow growing" cancer - pain is only to the touch of the abdomen, but she had a masectomy 10 years ago for breast cancer, and about 4 years ago she had tumors in her urethra and received some kind of radiation treatment. She has bacteria in her lungs that the dr says will never clear up she has not responded to 3 different types of antibiotics. Any info would be great. We just don't want our sweet grandma to suffer.
Answer: Your grandmother is about to go home to be with the Lord. All you can do is make her as comfortable as possible and be there to show her love as you are doing. Don't let the doctors treat her with stuff that will destroy any decent time she has left to share with you all. She is 96, very sick, and about all the doctors can do with their drugs is make her worse.
Question: Cancer in your lungs stomach liver and bowels......is there any type of drug you can take to fight cancer? Is there any type of drug or any kind of miracle that can happen to my mother in law? She has caner in all organs of ehr body she is 59.
Does beta glucan help for cancerous patients?
Any one tell me some useful tips?
she has 2-8 weeks to live!!!
Answer: Go to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America...they have given hope to the ones doctors deemed "hopefless"
