Oral Cancer Center
Question: Oral Cancer? please read all? Sorry its so long but please read it all
i'm 17 years old and dont drink or use any tobbacco. last week i noticed this pinhead sized bump on the roof of my mouth. idk how long its been there for it is pretty hard from what i can tell and it is painless. it is just left of the center of my mouth on the hard palate. I was looking at this clay molding of my mouth that the dentist who did my braces did before i got braces and i can see the same bump in it in the same spot. it looks a little bigger now and it might be a little bit bigger because i've been touching it with my tounge. that was about 4 or 5 years ago(that model) but idk
any ideas on what it is?
PS i brush my teeth twice a day and have only had 2 cavities.
my next dentist appointment is in 4 months. is that soon enough to get it checked out?
its just like a random bump on the normally smooth part of the mouth
if it doesnt go away in 2 weeks i'm getting a doctors appointment. (do you think thats soon enough?)
Answer: Get it checked out to relieve your fears, but if you freak out about every strange bump that appears on your body in your lifetime, you better have a good shrink.
It doesn't sound like anything you should worry too much about.
Question: Does anyone know about Cancer Treatment Centers Of America? I called and checked their website, they sound too good to be true, also they really don't want to give out any free advice, esp when they can make money from a visit to their hospital. I found out it is a pvt hosptial and they don't accept Government aid, funding or help, so that means they only accept the best of the best medical insurance and you need to be rich to even go there, intial deposit is $100,000 if you have no Medical coverage. So since this is purely based for the rich, not the poor, or working poor, are these treatment centers any good and are they worth all that money or what? Just curious if they can eradicate any type of oral cancer? If you went there or know of them, on a 10 star rating, what would you rate them as ? 10 being the best and 1 being poor.
Answer: This is part of my answer to the other CTCA question asked by someone else this AM.
First off, there are no secret cancer treatments that are only available at CTCA so when looking for a cancer treatment facility you want the best hospital for your particular cancer that happens to be located near your home. Traveling long distances repeatedly when you are not feeling good gets old (and very expensive in out of pocket cash) real fast so you need to figure into the equation what degree of difficulty you will have making repeated trips to whatever facility you end up choosing.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America are private for profit hospitals that make certain you have the money to pay for their services. While they have modern facilities they are by no means able to offer all the cutting edge treatments available when compared to some of the other hospitals available for treating cancer like for instance MD Anderson in Houston. CTCA's big advantage is their willingness to spend tons of money on advertising and not because the treatments available there are different than the treatments available at many other top rate cancer facilities.
The NCI has chosen about 35 cancer centers that they designate as comprehensive cancer centers meaning they are able to deal with complex cases of almost every type cancer. This also means that clinical trials are widely available - something that CTCA does not offer. Here is a link to find the nearest NCI designated comprehensive cancer center located nearest to you.
http://cancercenters.cancer.gov/cancer_c...
BTW- Do not get the self named "comprehensive cancer centers" mixed up with the NCI designated facilities. While they may still be very good hospitals, for whatever reason, the NCI has not yet designated them as an NCI facility.
Question: my dad has been reffered to the hospital by the dentist? he has a lumpy white patch under his tongue with like a hole type thing in the center of it although it isnt a hole now i understand white patches are leukoplakia ( i used to be a qualified dental nurse and have seen oral cancer) but i have not been a dental nurse for 6 years now ... does this white patch mean it is oral cancer ? it ia about 1 -2 cm in diameter. he does not smoke or drink .. could it be anything else apart from oral cancer
please advice as i am soo worried for him
many thanks
Answer: Hon, there is no way to know for sure until they do a biopsy. But I am assuming that they've referred him to the hospital because they think it is cancerous. He should go immediately. The faster they get it out of his mouth, the better his chances of recovery.
Best wishes.
Question: Isn't Revelation 16 Speaking of the Immorality is Society with Disease and Pandemics like Egypt Experienced? Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth
Flesh-eating bug spreads among gays

San Francisco's Castro district, home to the highest concentration of homosexuals in the US, about one in 588 people is carrying the multi-drug-resistant bug-The bug, which is spreading rapidly among homosexual men in several major US cities, can cause boils as large as tennis balls-Oral Sex Increases Risk Of Throat Cancer
ScienceDaily (May 10, 2007) — Researchers at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center have conclusive evidence that human papillomavirus (HPV) causes some throat cancers
We found that infection with HPV is spreading necessary in most if not all cases of anal cancer, as close to 90 percent of the tumors studied were positive for the virus," said Daling, a pioneer in studying the link between HPV and anogenital-cancer risk.
Images from Israel’s Exodus are prominent in the bowl judgments. In the days of Moses, God sent plagues upon Egypt that included plagues of boils (Exodus 9:8-12),
Labbgirl I don't think it is shameful to inform people that these diseases are real that they will kill you that being sexually immoral can kill you I think that is what you need to teach your children if you love them
Answer: Revelation 16 is indeed speaking about these plagues, and that's evidenced by what it says in Revelation 22:18 - "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the PLAGUES that are written in this book" A person is "adding" to the inspired Word of God when they follow after their own lusts, this is what separates us from Him. James 1:14-15 - "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." God bless!!!
Question: Shape of hard palate? Does the edge of the hard palate (where the hard palate and soft palate connect) curve upwards toward the nasal cavity. I know some hard palates have an excess little nodule at the edge, but it seems like mine (if it even is part of my palate)curves upward towards the nasal cavity and is also not very centered. Is this anything to worry about. Nasal/oral cancer???
Answer: look in the mirror ,
Question: Noticed small white dots/pimples & bump under my tongue on one side? I just happened to be looking at my mouth and noticed that I have sometihng under on one side.
One part looks like a small (flesh colored) area with 3 or 4 little whiteheads together (under the left back side of my tongue) & I also noticed a flesh colored bump/flap next to the frenelum (spelling?) aka center divider under your tongue.
The white spots/white heads cluster makes me nervous Im not sure what it could be. Cankersore? Some kind of infection? My mouth is clean I was at the dentist january-had my cleaning recently. Does anyone know what this is?
& Part 2- I'm not sure if Ive always had that bump/ flap of skin under my tongue should I get a check up to make sure its not cancerous? What does beginnings of oral cancer look like?
I do smoke, Im young & I do have heartburn if it helps.
Answer: Though it seems like a normal structure of your tongue. Best if you verify with your regular dentist.

Question: I have two, unrelated medical questions (I don't need advice) out of curiousity. 1. My dad had to have a colonoscopy last year and had to take some stuff to "flush out" everything. He said that the enema effect gave him bad gas pains. What causes the pain and the "enema" effect in these oral enema thingys?
2. Is copper used in cancer treatments and if so, how are they used? I saw a news story today on the news that copper was stolen from a medical center in my town and some cancer patients skipped their treatments because of this.
Thanks!
Answer: Well... Copper is a part of Chemotherapy, all around.
A way way older method (like late 1800's) of attacking cancer was to use a copper/borax mixture that probably killed way more patients then it ever cured haha... So um we don't use that anymore.
These days copper I think is more like a kind of side-issue.. a specialized type of Chemotherapy that tries to prevent the tumor from being able to create cells called Tetrathomolybdate, depletes (among other things lol) the body's supply of copper.. At a low enough point the tumor itself is the body's main supply of copper in the bloodstream, as they are copper hoarders. Once the TUMOR is made copper deficient... It starts to prevent the tumor from performing cellular mass production (angiogenesis).. so.. goodbye tumor lol.
Hopefully.
In other types of Chemo, copper is also one of the depleted resources cancer patients can get either from the Chemotherapy reducing their ability to absorb vitamins and minerals.. Or from being prescribed huuuge amounts of Vitamin C to combat the Chemo's effects on the rest of the body (which then reduces the body's supply of copper).
In this case though.. I don't think ppl ripping off the copper is related to copper used in treatment, it was PROBABLY from the copper cooling pipes from the huge radiation units.. They generate so much heat. Ugh people are awful, how can you steal from a hospital?
Oh also.. that stuff they gave your dad was probably Barium (or at least something like that).. what it does is provide X-Ray image-relief.. basically.. it like.. let's them see better on the X-Rays. There's a link at the bottom that explains it all..
But it also let's them see better by clearing everything out... Basically how it's clearing out your dad's system lol.. Is deactivating the sodium pumps (Na-K-ATPase) in the lining of his intestines... This in turn drives water into the bowels and flushes everything though like a river. It's like.. sneakily using our body's natural ability to try and rid itself of detected viruses/bacteria/parasites. Normally those nasties would trigger the Mass Evactuaion lol by fitting the right receptor sites for the antibodies working in your immune system.
Haha.. The More You Know, brought to you by your local Geokitty ^_^
*Edit: lol if you were wondering how it works.. I had to look it up. Ok so to remove the copper from your body, basically the Tetrathiomolybdate forms a stable non-metabolizing compound with any copper naturally found in the food you eat, and um also with any copper in your bloodstream. Then.. lol.. I guess it would just be passed through the body like waste product.

Answer: As a hiring expert, I recommend you take out your bottom two jobs as they were pretty short and you want to look like you've had stable jobs. The first three are fine. And a few more job descriptions. 3 may be too short. Have 4-6 job descriptions.
You should rename your activities section as "Other Experience" and name your regular experience section as "Professional Experience". Take out "References Available Upon Request" because you should already have your references on hand when meeting an employer.
All of my advice is very detailed on my website so find more tips here: http://www.hireme101.com/resumetips.html. I also only charge $7 to edit resumes, so my services could be useful for you.

Question: What should i do with my life? *warning* sob-story enclosed? I (an 8th grader) have been clinically depressed for the past 4 years and some odd months. It started with my uncle being diagnosed with cancer about 4 or 5 years back. I didn't think much of it, but it gets worse. About 4 years ago, my parents split up. by this time, i was in fourth grade. i think about 2 years ago, on new years eve, my grandfather died from some sort of intestinal problem (i don't know the correct name for it). A month later, my uncle finally passed away from the cancer. More recently (near the beginning of my last school year) i had a girlfriend (who i cared deeply about) for about 2 months. I was outlawed as a person for the most part for turning down oral sex from her (my mom raised me too well) and i became the center of gossip at my school. All over the place, i was hearing "are you gay?" "how can you turn down a blowjob" and all sorts of other things. I really had no answer for why i had said no. I think she had gotten bored with our relationship because of that and was seeking sexual attention elsewhere. She ended up sleeping with a freshman (keep in mind that she and i were in 7th grade at that time) while we were still dating. She then told me about that and said she wanted to break up. I was devastated by the whole thing and never fully recovered from that loss. And even more recently, i have been feeling like i don't have anything in common with anyone that i know. I feel that most of the people at my school are at the maturity level of an 8 year old and really need to grow up. I have become that kid that everyone thinks is either a stoner, gay, or emo (i have hair a couple of inches past the shoulders). I just don't feel like i belong anywhere and seek guidance in my life. I am having trouble finding a girlfriend (trying to keep my mind of things) and fitting in with people at my school. If anyone has any ideas, questions, or just want to elaborate on my situation, feel free. - Nicholas
For the most part, i have given up on life and people in general. (i'm a bit of a cynice)
And just so you guys know, i'm still friends with my ex.
cynic* (i don't know how that 'e' ended up in there)
I have other friends that are girls, and i am interested in some of them. I would ask them out, but i just don't think that things would work out very well with them. And I'm not going to conform to what people consider to be cool or not. I'm a very unique person and would like to stay that way.
My aim is emokidkiller98 if anyone has any questions or wants to talk. I'm online right now even though it says I'm not.
I don't feel like i am responsible at all for my parents breakup. I also spend equal time with each of my parents. (they live within 15 minutes of driving from eachother)
Answer: Hi Nick,
Life can throw a lot of crap your way but don't let it get you down.
If it's really bad, then try finding a counseller to speak to, is there one at your school you can visit discreetly?
But otherwise just stick it out, kids can be jerks and once you leave and get rid of being around people that make you feel bad life gets a lot better.
Once you're out in the real world, you get to pick who you truly want to be friends with, you can go out doing the hobbies you enjoy and meet others who like the same things and get better friendships that way.
I had to wait a long time to figure that out and now my school life is behind me, life is a lot better.
I appreciate that doesn;t really help you right now but there is always hope and things do get better, sometimes the present can be bad and make you feel the future will be bad too but it's not all bad out there.
Oh and any girl who dumps you for wanting to save your sexual encounters for when it's right is not worth having and you are much better off waiting for the right girl, it's a quality that very few guys (and girls) have and there are plenty of girls out there who will appreciate that. Just don't be in too much of a rush to find them.
Question: United Nation Internship? So I'm in the process of trying to get an internship in the United Nations. I am aware of how competitive those internships are, and was wondering if there are certain things I should be active in, in the hopes of increasing my chances of being selected in the United Nations. Are there certain qualities/skills they look for in potential candidates? Here is what I have accomplished as of now. I am also volunteering at local places such as the big Brothers/big sisters group, read to achieve group, a women's battered shelter, and a special education center for kids in which I play basketball with them (which I love by the way). My brother informed me that I should possibly join Senator Barack Obamas campaign. My question is to you guys is there anything else I could be doing to get recognized by internships/scholarships or things that would build upon my resume stature?

So have you guys heard of this? Apparently a small town in Oklahoma City had an election in which, John Hamilton or whatever his name is became the youngest mayor in American history. (At the age of 19) so as a future politician/foreign affairs major, this has opened up my eyes a little. Although I'm only 21, I feel as if I could be doing more! But what? How do I gain popularity/strength in my city? Constructive criticism only please! Although I am reminded what my father used to tell me back when I was young, "don't try to be a great man, just be a man, and let history make its own judgments" thank you and God bless. In any case you would like to see my resume, to view what have I accomplished so far, you're more than welcome.

My first year as President, was also the year of the bond issue. The bond election was going to determine if San Jacinto College would receive a renovation of technology, that will ensure every student at the community college will receive the very best education. After hours of hard work all the way from putting up signs to working the phones, I am proud to say I helped keep our community colleges strong. While serving as president, I wanted to serve our community and be involved in charity work as much as possible. As such, the Student Government Organization sponsored their very first annual 'hoopen it for charity basketball game'. In which the professors took on the San Jacinto College basketball team, with the proceeds of $1400 being donated directly to the Jori Zemel Children's Bone Cancer Foundation. After the 2006/2007 school year ended, the Student Government Association was faced with a real predicament. All of their officers excluding myself, were all parting ways from San Jacinto community college. As President I had to rebuild and recruit new dedicated members in hopes of ensuring student government stays Alive and thriving. So I'm working on my political resume in hopes of trying to find internships in our nation's capital. My brother informed me though that a resume is not supposed to be longer than a page. My question is what if I've done a lot? How am I suppose to compress it? Here it is in case you're wondering how it looks like. What do you guys think? Is it too long? Or is it just right?

Answer: Why would anyone interview you? There's nothing to talk about; you have your whole life story in intense detail here. Look I am going to sound brutal but believe me in the long run you will thank me. BTW congrats you really are an accomplished individuall.
Take out all those wordy details about being President of the SGA--condense it! No business professional has the time to go through all that especially since some of the details are mundane. Sadly much of what you wrote is like you're accepting an academy award--so also get rid of the overwhelming detail of the SGA officer and Spirt Award in the Awards section. Just list the name of the award! I know you're proud, as you should be, but let an interviewer be intrigued by that and ask you during an interview what it is. That is the appropriate time to pull out this much detail.
Leave the MSA get rid of the details of what that stands for--there are sadly too many predjudiced people in the world and you don't want someone denying you an interview because they are narrow minded.
Get rid of Star Trek and the Simpson's. You have a serious resume and that makes you appear immature
Under all your jobs get rid of details like dusting and mopping. In fact for jobs like store clerk put this kind of description--All aspects of store clerk duties relating to the maintenance and operation of a sucessful retail business (or whatever it is)
You need to condense this thing and your brother is right--1 page is very normal. Example: Yours: Guest speaker- San Jacinto graduation ceremony. Pasadena, TX 2008 My last assignment as president of the Student Government Association was to give a speech on the president of the college at the graduation ceremony, in front 1000 people. Mine: Guest speaker- San Jacinto College, Pasadena TX graduation ceremony. (1000 in attendence).
Answer: You can get your most viable answer by contacting the ACS.
