Question: looking for feed back on cancer treatment center of America? my wife is looking into going for treatmen (ovarian cancer )
Answer: Go to something all natural and organic. Expensive but you will live.
Question: Ovarian cancer at 20? I am twenty years old and I have recently not been feeling well (for about a week or so). I have not quite felt right and I have had frequent spells of bad nausea. When i dont feel nauseated I feel very "off-balance" and almost dizzy like. In the past few days I have had a loss of appetite as well. Recently I began having a dull pain in my pelvis right where my ovaries sit and if I push down on my pelvis is almost feels hard or inflammed. About a year ago I had very similiar symptoms for about a week and then I had an appendectomy. I feel like my body is giving me the same signs as it did before. After researching over the net I have linked many of my symptoms to ovarian cancer symptoms. Could it be possible that at only 20 I could have developed ovarian cancer? Im not sure if I am just nervous and overreacting but I want to be cautious. Im a college student and I made an appointment at my student health center tomorrow... any advice would help! Thanks
Answer: First off, I am glad to hear that you have made an appointment for tomrrow. Smart Move. When something doesn't feel right you need to get it checked out. As I say better safe then sorry.
As for can you get Ovarian Cancer at 20! Yes it could happen, It isn't common, but not impossible to happen. The age frame that it tends to affect is 40-70 years old. People who are at risk are ones with a history of Breast Cancer, no pregnancies, camily history with ovarian cancer, use of talc in genital areas, use of postmenopausal estrogen. The symptoms of Ovarian Cancer can be but not limited to: Swelling, Bloating, discomfort in lower abdomen, loss of appetite, feeling full even after a light meal, gas, indigestion, nausea, weight loss. But please remember that the first five symptoms of each disease are about the same for everything. Try not to loss sleep over this. You are getting things checked tomorrow and you will know so much more. Take Care of yourself and I hope everything turns out okay!!! :) Best of Luck! :)
Question: CA125 Test Level 1400, 10-12cm Ovarian Cyst, 66 Yr. Old Woman? My mom had a hysterectomy right after I was born in '76, but they left her ovaries. She recently had her yearly check-up at the gynecologist who informed her she had a large, solid mass on her ovary of approximately 10-12cm that is not attached to her bladder or intestines. She had a CA125 Test and her level was 1400. She will be going to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas to see Dr. Ramirez on Thursday and have this cyst removed on Monday. From what I have researched, this isn't good, but until they remove the cyst, we don't know the exact prognosis. I am assuming with such high levels this definitely has to be malignant and she probably has Ovarian Cancer. I am just beside myself with worry. This is my mom. I only have one mom. She lives in NY and I live in CA. She doesn't want me to come out to Texas for the surgery because she wants me to stay with my daughters ages 3 and 7 to comfort them. But, what if it is the last time? I need help understanding what is going on.
Answer: How weird, my mom had Dr Ramirez :)
I can assure you that EVERYONE at M.D Anderson(I used to live in Houston --my mom((peace rest her soul) went there for 8 years for multiple cancers)uses the utmost care with all of their patients. They always make sure they are comfortable and everything. If she does have ovarian cancer, they will make sure that everything is done properly and safely.
I wouldn't look at it as the last time, I would sit back and hope for the best, which is all you really can do.
She's in the best hands, I promise.
I wish you(and yr mom) the best of luck.
Question: Mom with Ovarian cancer? My mom got diagnosed last sept.had a total histo and debalking.said they got it we still had to have 6 tratment of chemo.we go to philly to the ccancer treatment center.Today we found out she may have microscopic cells??She was at a stage 3 when we started there and after her3 chemo we had a pet and ct scan and they where clean??I am confussed can any one help explain this ???
Answer: Microscopic cells can remain after surgery and treatment in nearly all types of cancer. Stage 3 ovarian cancer is advanced and should be treated aggressively which would appear as exactly what you are doing.
The microscopic cells can progress into more cancer if left untreated. Your mother's oncologist may prescribe another protocol of chemotherapy after which she will have continuous follow up scans and tests to make sure there are no more cells present.

Sometimes i think i'm sick with something and sometimes when i think about my stomach hurtin it really starts to hurt! and i feel like im going to throw up
then i look up online and i get all this diagnose about ovarian cancer

and often i have little aches and pains in my lower abdomin (ovary area)
now i'm constipated and my stomach hurts like it has never hurt before in my ovary area on the right... my gma said the colon runs all through there and that im probably constipated
but i also looked online and constipated could be symptoms of cancer and lots of other things...
I've also been to the dr like 3 times with the same symptoms (cold chills, sore throat, stomach ache) and they do blood work and look in my mouth and they say they dont know why i feel bad and tell me to just go to school ((THEY THINK I'M PLAYIN 'HOOKIE' BECAUSE I LOOK YOUNGER THAN I AM BUT I'M REALLY 19 AND IN COLLEGE))
could i be a HYPOCONDRIAC??
could i really think about something so much that it makes my stomach hurt??

Answer: As an alumni of the school, I would say that your credentials look pretty good, I don't think colleges necessarily dwell on ACT/SAT scores after you have already been admitted into a college, those tests are really just a benchmark in predicting how you would do, however your grades right now, seem to prove that you are going to do well. Also I know that they take a look at the whole picture when making decisions on who gets admitted.
It seems that you are a pre-med major, if this is the case I would advise that you do more research on different colleges in terms of what is going to offer you the best value and advantage upon completing your undergrad, if you already have a post graduate school of choice in mind, I would also try to find out what caliber of students they look for when making their admission decisions also. I wish you the best
Question: Hi Ladies- need some help please!? I apologise in advance for the length of this, just want to give the facts so I can useful help! :o)
Okay so hubby and I are TTC, (first timers) and I am SO lost!
My last period began Jan 16th... and my predicted ovulation was Jan 31st. We tried 5 days prior and day of and day after.
So on friday (Feb 6th) AM I took a digital readout test, First Response, and it was YES +.
I was very happy- I didn't even think I would be able to know that soon.
Then on Saturday AM I took another test (first response, not digital, +/-)... and it was negative.
Then Sunday afternoon I took another digital test, (clear blue) and said not pregnant.
Then last night I was having horrible pain in my lower abdomen right side... and went to an instant care center.
They said I had an ovarian cyst that had ruptured. Since they had to draw blood they did a qualitative hCG blood test, which just gives a yes or no answer.
It came back negative. :(
I am so confused. They wouldn't help me more there- VERY unfriendly people.
I guess there is a possibility I am not preggo? I just have read so much and they said false positives are rare.
And only OVARIAN CANCER cysts can cause false positives. I do not have ovarian cancer, doesn't run in family, etc.
If I was preggo I would only be like 2 weeks... my period would start sat or sun (feb 14 or 15.)
So long story and lots of info... your opinon, preggo or not??
Thanks in advance :)
Answer: to get a more accurate answer for a home test, you should take it first thing in the morning, its when your hormones are at their highest state.
Yes it is possible, and cysts can certainly clear up on their own, just keep trying when the time is right you will have a little bundle of joy.
Question: I have SEVERE abdominal pain.? I've had this same pain for about a month. It started on my right side, i went and had it checked out, and it wasn't an appendsitis. It's a chronic pain, now in the center and left side of my lower abdomen. i also can barely eat anything or i get nausous (sp?). and all throughout the days i get this horrible pain that 10 times worse than before where i just want to barrel over and fall to the ground. i'm also bloated all the time. is there anyone who knows what it might be? i looked up online the symptoms of ovarian cancer, and all my symptoms line up with them. please i need some help. thanks
Answer: what kind of pain? is it dull? sharp? stabbing? or burning? do you feel pain on your back? maybe its your distal colon..
try to consult your doctor..im only a nurse but i can help in assessing patients..
Question: I have an adnexal mass (tumor attached to the ovary) and no insurance in Florida? I need a biopsy and possibly surgery. I have been out of work for a year with no insurance I bareIy get enough money to pay the rent and buy food. I have tried ever possible resource that I have found on the internet. American Cancer Society, National Cancer Institute, etc and they give me numbers of hospitals and centers that cannot help me. I have called all the area hospitals and have inquired about charity care or indigent care programs, they have none. I have gotten referred to local government health centers, all of whom say they have no money for my cause. I do not qualify for medicaid and have no money for insurance or for doctors. I already have had a CT scan , ultrasound and blood work that I managed to get for free from a local community health center in West Pasco Florida, and I was told that there was nothing more that they could do for me. They told to either borrow money or ask my church for help. They pretty much left me hanging with no place to go. I do have pain, but nothing really bad and nothing that I could go to an emergency room for. Where can I turn?? Anyone have any suggestions??? I need to get this checked out before it gets any bigger. It is up to 5cm, and they said it was suspicious for ovarian neoplasm (Cancer).
Answer: This is tricky because you see, I've had a 4cm ovarian cyst and they did surgery and it was normal so without evidence of cancer, it may be hard to get charity.
However, if you do go to your church (if you attend) and ask them if they can start a fund-raiser of some sort that would be great and in the mean-time start asking the hospital about how to get the surgery and when they finish the fund-raiser, you can pay the hospital back. I doubt they want the money upfront. If they do, then finish the fund-raiser first. Or start your own online? Sorry, I wish I knew a better answer.
In the long run, I would seriously consider getting private health insurance. I did it when I got paid little because it cost less than my 4 abdominal surgeries did in the long run.
Feel better soon!
Question: I Don't Know What Is Wrong With Me.? I've been in and out of the hospital and doctors' offices for the last three weeks with horrid cramps in my abdomen, vomiting, dizziness, fainting spells, terrible back pain and fatigue. Each doctor says something different that contradicts the other. I've been told ovarian cysts, cervical cancer, pancreatitis.. and simple abdominal pain. The most credible diagnosis I was given was that I had gall stones and a kidney stone [proven by a CT Scan].
Well right now, I'm throwing up blood, my back feels like someone is tearing my spine out, and my entire abdominal area has stabbing, throbbing pain, especially in the upper center area. I can hardly stand, let alone walk. I'm home alone with no phone to call out for help and I'm really scared. What do you think is wrong and what should I do?
I don't think it's colitis, because I just looked up the symptoms... I'm not having bowel movements, I don't have a fever, and the pain is in the upper area of my abdomen - not the lower area.
I dunno... I'm not sure if my neighbors are home, but it wouldn't hurt to go check.
Answer: You seem to have colitis. The stones are not causing the current problems.
Throwing up blood is a emergency, drink ice cold water and go to a neighbor to call 911.
