Question: My friend is having symptoms of ovarian cancer. But because she receive a medical card a gynecologist won't see My friend is 25 years old and she gets cyst all the time. But everytime she goes to the doctor they do nothing. She has all the sign of ovarian cancer .But there is no gynecologist in her area taking medical cards. So what should she do?PLEASE HELP.
Answer: Tell her to go to a clinic. They take walk ins. At least the one here does. They also take in people without insurance. You just have to pay 80 dollars for the visit. And they will give her a test and whatever she needs.
I find it hard to believe that a gynecologist won't take care of her. Mine thought I had ovarian cysts and he did an ultra sound the very next week. You could try finding another gynecologist, but if you still don't have any luck, get her to go to a clinic.
Good luck.
Question: What are symptoms of ovarian cancer? I have not started my period for almost 4 months now. Lately, I have been gaining more weight (I eat and exercise good). I have also been having really really bad lower back pains. I have had to stop what I have been doing and they have bee nso bad that I have actually been knocked to the ground and have had my mom help me into the house. I will be sitting down not moving or anything and I have had really bad back pains. I have also been getting dizzy and nausous lately. It sometimes feels like the room is spinning, it doesn't happen that often maybe two or three times a week.
My question is this a sign of cancer or is this normal?
I am 17 about to turn 18!
Answer: Can you see a gynecologist? It could be something as simple as adjusting your hormones or something different so dont worry or try to diagnose. Just call and get an appointment.
Question: Why do ovarian cancer symptoms present like GI problems?
Answer: Ovarian cancers or ovarian neoplasms occur in the abdominal area. This cavity, the abdominal cavity, is also referred to as the peritoneal cavity because during embryogenesis the peritoneum (a sheath of tissue) lines the abdomen and all its contents. This would include the ovaries. Now, there is a complex system of nerves that innervate the abdominal viscera (the layer of fibrous like tissue that is directly ontop of the organs in the abdomen). When these nerves are in anyway irritated, which would include blunt trauma, inflammation, and even cancers in the abdomen, etc . . . then the patient will present with pain in the abdomen as well as pain elsewhere in the body (called referred pain). The pain elsewhere in the body is due to the innervation of the viscera which refers pain elsewhere, for example you have appendicitus but the pain is all over the abdomen at the early stages. Now, in cancer, particularly ovarian cancer, the tumor can spread throughout the visceral peritoneum or the parietal peritoneum. Given the location of the ovaries to the GI system, a tumor (be it benign or metastatic in nature) can physically push aside tissues and cause blockage by pinching off the passage way in the GI tract. Moreover, if it had spread to the GI, there could likely be a GI bleed or visceral peritoneal bleed, or ovarian visceral peritoneal bleed or tissue in the GI or ovary that bleeds. This could present as blood in the stool (GI bleed) or hardening in the abdomen on palpation. In almost all cases, there will be pain within the abdominal area. There are many other problems associated with this cancer type which include condition of: tenesmus (the sensation of having the need to go poop but cannot), ascites, discoloration of the stool, anorexia, anemia (due to bleeding), etc.
Question: What are the most common symptoms of ovarian cancer? Who is at risk?
Answer: Ovarian cancer is considered or was considered a silent killer. Recent studies have shown that most woman experience similar symptoms although these symptoms are common and may not be signs of cancer. All women with ovaries are at risk.
Bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly; urinary symptoms (urgency or frequency)

Question: what are they signs / symptoms of ovarian cancer? what are they signs / symptoms of ovarian cancer? - bleeding, bloated. fullness, need to wee a lot, feeling very unwell?? x

Question: What were Gilda Radners ovarian cancer symptoms?
Answer: Ovarian cancer is somewhat silent in terms of symptoms. I recommend you visit the Gilda Radner Foundation for a list of symptoms: http://www.ovariancancer.com/info.asp.
If you have any sense of having the symptoms, please visit a doctor immediately. If that doctor does not take you seriously, then see another one. Many doctors will treat women like it's all in their head...as if they're just depressed or lonely or some other BS like that.
Ovarian cancer is very hard to detect and will require the doctor to spend a lot of time "feeling around" the abdomen. The doctor most likely will need to explore the abdomen by inserting a hand into both the vagina and rectum. X-rays and MRI's often show nothing, because the ovaries are located deep in the abdomen. Also most ovarian cancers are of the epithelial type--which mean they grow flat like skin. Hence there can be an absence of a large mass or tumor, as many people imagine when the think of cancer.
Be sure to visit the "links" page at the Gilda Radner site. It has an extensive list of additional resources on ovarian cancer: http://www.ovariancancer.com/links.asp. There's a lot of good information online.
Question: What are signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer and if u had a ovarian cyst can u get ovarian cancer ? I would also like to know can they make u missed ur period
Answer: Every woman gets cysts every month it is part of the ovulation cycle. Normal cysts develop and go away on their own. Most of the time they are not even noticed. It is normal at the time of ovulation to feel a twinge of pain as the egg is released. Any thing more than that should be looked into. If the pain is severe or does not go away in a few days.
Large cysts can cause the ovary to twist over and cut off it's own blood supply, but this is rare. They can rupture and cause problems. And yes

Question: I want to know if I have symptoms for ovarian cancer? I have been constipated for about two weeks and I have had really bad pains in my lower stomach and I took some Epsom Salt and it did help alot but now my lower stomach hurts even more.
Answer: Your symptoms could indicate ovarian cancer but often what you're experiencing isn't due to cancer- only a doctor can tell for sure.
