Stomach Cancer Types
Question: Would any doctor remove a stomach even if there is no cancer present? I do not have cancer, but I am overweight and suffer very bad indigestion problems and pain in my stomach. Would any type of doctor consider removing my stomach, a procedure usually done on cancer patients, even though I do not have cancer?
Answer: I can answer this question . I have had an operation for bowel cancer. Nothing was removed except the growth. Now I am back to normal with everything intact. Overweight people can have an operation which reduces the amount that they can eat. There is medication which will help you in the form of pills which will cure your indigestion See your doctor.
Question: stomach cancer question.? if ur parents have no cancer genes, will their kid still get cancer. does stomach cancer affect any type of age group and racial status? how can someone determine if stomach cancer is in them besides the abdomainal pains?
Answer: Cancer is a genetic disease, but this does not mean it is a hereditary disease, there's a difference. Cancer involves error in the genetic makeup of cells that make them proliferate aggressively and indefinitely. But this error most often are acquired and are not passed from parents to their children.
Stomach cancer is a disease that can affect people generally in the middle to older age groups. While all races are affected, it is more common in Asians and Hispanic populations, and is thought to be the case because of lifestyle issues. Smoking can increase the risk of the disease, and stomach ulcers are associated with it as well.
Stomach cancer is very insidious, which is why stomach cancer is usually quite advanced at the time of diagnosis. Symptoms include abdominal pain, lost of appetite, early satiety (getting full early), weight loss, and anemia.
Question: Is there any connection between your blood type and immunity towards cancer? I read somewhere years ago about a study that showed that not all of us are cancer risk people. Study showed that people with a most popular blood type like A and B are much likely to get type of cancer rather then AB + and especially -. Now i cant find an article. I was doing numbers of researches online and i dont seem to find any connection other then stomach cancer in patients who happened to be Type A. Does anyone know anything about this or heard anything of this study? Websites are welcome!
Obvious that none of us are immune to jack **** in this world full of all kinds of parasites, diseases, bacterias, etc! Maybe i should of phased it better when i wrote the very first sentence, but i kind of explained myself later on saying that there may be an uncertain difference between blood groups and their risk to get cancer at some point of their life rather then other ones that may have less chance and risk period. I know there was a study and there is no need to just knock it down just because you never heard of it. There is definitely a study between A type and stomach cancer, so its not just some kind of new breakthrough that i discovered.
Answer: There is a book by Peter D'Adamo that addresses these issues - I can't remember the title, but with the authors name, I'm sure you can find it.
Question: Are there agencies that will help with the burial of cancer patients.? My brother was diagnosed with some type of stomach cancer at the age of 27,he's been in the battle now for 5 years and at the age of 32 it seems as though the cancer has won. He has no life insurance and im wondering if there are any agencies that will help pay for his burial.
Answer: The hospital should have some Information on that for you. I am very sorry for your family.
Question: Any regular and easy tests to find out Stomach Cancer? I am planning to use the herbal supplement of Cayenne Pepper (Capsaicin) to relieve some of the problems I have.
It also have only a few side effects.
It also decreases the risk of all types of cancer as the researches indicate - with one exception, that is namely, to be the stomach cancer, which it would be triggering. I should not be concerned normally as you might think - it seems to decrease the risk of all types of cancers - why worry only for the stomach cancer. But the problem is that my father died from stomach cancer and this would mean I might be genetically prone to that type of cancer.
So - should I worry and prefer not to use Cayenne although which will have some prevailing benefits on my health that appears to be relieving some symptoms I have?
And my main question is, if I use it regularly:
Is there any type of medical test to see if I I have any indications or tendency to have the beginning of stomach cancer - so I will have this test once every year or so - and take the necessary actions?
Answer: You can be tested for H Pylori, which is very easy test. Researchers have found links between H Pylori and gastric cancer.
If you have a family history, I would consider getting scoped every 5 years or you could do a CA.A 19 blood test, which when combined with a CEA blood test it could possibly detect gastic cancer.
I would talk to your doc and see what they think would be a good protocol for you. Gastric cancer is not something to mess around with, take it seriously.
Question: Cousin of same age has stomach cancer I just found out that my cousin of same age has stomach cancer. She lives out of the continent && I feel extremely terrible for her && I don`t know what to do.
Does drinking too much coca-cola cause any type of cancer?
Or does eating a fruit every day cause no cancer?
Answer: I'm sorry to hear about your cousin.
Nobody knows what causes most cancers. There's no food or drink proven to either cause or prevent cancer.
A lot of coca-cola isn't a healthy choice, but there's no evidence it contributes to cancer.
Eating fruit every day is a healthy habit, but if it prevented cancer not many people would get it.
I have been vegetarian almost all my life and had been vegan for eight years when I was diagnosed with cancer - I had a healthy diet packed with fruit and veg.
Cancer affects the healthy and the unhealthy alike.
My best wishes to your cousin.
Question: Can you remove your stomach and still live a semi-normal life? I read a news article in Boing-Boing and it stated that there is a family in Los Angeles that carried the gene for a type of stomach cancer and they have a 70% chance of getting this stomach cancer. As a result they decided to have their stomach removed. Is this possible? Can people do this? How are you going to break down / digest your food if you do not have a stomach? Is all your food processing going to be in your Intestines / Mouth? What happens if you eat too much or your body cannot store enough as a result of no stomach?
Sorry, this has lead me to have a lot of questions ... I just want to understand this better.

Answer: Thats exactly what gasdtric bypass surgery is - removing pretty much most of your stomach, except for a very VERY small portion about the size of a walnut. So, yes it can be done. Healthwise, there have not beeen enough studies to show what long term efffects can be, but Im certain that you can bet malnutrition is one of them....
Gastric bypass is a great easy way for fat lazy people to get skinny without having to diet, work out or watch what they eat. Bad thing is, fat people are fat because they dont watch what they eat, dont exercise and dont diet. After bypass surgery, people need to closely watch what they consume and drink. Most, being lazy and enjoying eating crap junk food, end up either becoming grossly malnurioushed, or becoming fat again - because the stomach can also grow itself back!
Question: is it possible to have a type of stone cancer in your stomach?
Answer: Just what would that be?
Question: Esophagus/Stomach Cancer from Alcholism? My dad is an alcholic, he drinks mostly liquor. We dont live nearby each other, but keep in touch. I found out last night he has stepped down to beer (and is going through withdraws) because of esophagus/stomach cancer "masses" lining his insides.
He went to the doctor due to "Acid reflux" in which he had for years (I can even remember him having is a good 10 years ago before my parents for divorced) but the "acid reflux" had gotten worse; the doc was able to detect it as symptomology towards his metastizing cancer.
Does anyone have any insight on this type of cancer related to alcoholism? I have tried to do my google research, and any insights or anwsers regarding this type of cancer will be welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks dufu but there are varibales that hinder that possibility-like he lives in another country heh.
And thanks Quick, I was under the impression that there wasnt much that could be done, but I wanted to hear it so I wasnt all assumatory.
Jill-yeah he is not in very good health.
Thanks for all those details pink
Answer: I'm sorry to say that stomach/esophageal cancer usually has a very poor prognosis. If he hasn't been able to quit alcohol even after cancer diagnosis, this compounds everything greatly. I don't think there is anything to do but give him your love and pray.
Question: Dads fighting stomach cancer..will radiation therapy help? My father has just finnished a course of 6 chemo therapy treatements for stomach cancer (he had beaten bowl cancer 1 year ago), but today doctors have revealed the stomach cancer is still there. Hes now also got water in that area, making it uncomfartable.
I really want him to have an operation, but dont know if he can.
Hes now mentioned radiotherapy treatment as another method. How successfull is radiation therapy on this type of cancer? any individual stories or advice would be appreciated. This is a very sensistive issue and appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thank you
Answer: It’s hard to answer not knowing what you mean by “successful” or anything about his case, but this type of cancer has a poor prognosis in general. Sometimes chemo is done before surgery, but not often and it does not improve overall survival and it is fairly resistant to radiation. The only way for a possible cure is surgery and even then the odds are not good unless it is an early disease. I’m sorry to say that is sounds like your dad has advanced disease and treatment at this point is to prolong his life and improve quality by decreasing symptoms. Success is determined by the ability to stop progression for a period of time. Chemo has a response rate of 10-50% with a median survival of 5-11 months. I am very sorry.
Question: She's found out that she's got stomach cancer!? I know she's in stage 2 of stomach cancer. I'm going by the last time she's found out. A couple months ago. I know now she's losing her hair a little sometimes. I have also noticed she's been losing quite the bit of weight now. She is not going for the treatments. She's also diagnosed with emphysema and continue to smoke with it. How long does she have to live? She's done drugs her entire life but has been clean for years. I don't know if this is the reason for her stomach cancer or not but I'm just saying. Also she's been having these pains in her stomach with feel like stabbing pains to her. She's my mothers girlfriend. I don't care about this lady because she's very selfish and two faced. I don't like seeing anyone deal with any type of cancer though.
Answer: she needs to be going to a dr. god allows us to go through things that will bring people closer to him. the best you can do is get her to go to a dr. and pray for her, if it's hurting your mother she needs to tell this woman/freind that she needs to go to a dr. & get help, you could also contact hospice and try to get a counselor to talk to her, have a blessed day, wes
Question: Can you get cancer from trying something once? I tried smoking hookah one time and didn't like it. Won't do it again. What are the chances that that one hookah session gives me some type of cancer (mouth, stomach, lung) down the line? Or is it more of a prolonged exposure thing?
Answer: Very slim. See the link below for more information about lung cancer.
Question: Complete blood count and stomach cancer? Hello,
I have been having symptoms of no appetite, sour/upset stomach, worn out and not wanting to do anything, feel in a daze. The Dr. and thearpist think that I have depression. I went the the ER had a complete blood count done, thyroid, liver, kidney. All values came back good. I am the type of person who worries a lot about physical symptoms. If I had stomach cancer, would by blood count have been off?
Can the symptoms of depression last longer than 3 weeks? I was on Effexor for 11 days and had to quit taking it because of insomia. I have been on Paxil for 2 days now.
I feel panic because my appetite is gone, energy level is gone, and stomach is upset.
Answer: Too bad you quit the effexor after 11 days - it takes antidepressants four weeks to begin working. All the symptoms you describe relate to depression. It's a surprisingly physical disease. And, yes, it lasts longer than three weeks. It can be chronic - I have been on medication for six years. But, at least I don't think I'm dying of some horrific ailment and go into panic attacks over it. About the stomach cancer - unless you are a middle aged black man who eats a lot of barbecue, you probably don't have it.
Question: is flatulence a possible symptom for people who have cancer? i was told by a doctor that one possible symptom of cancer victims is stomach gas. which type of cancers have this symptom and what causes it?
it's true everyone has gas - but not most of the time unless probably you have bad toilet habits? but when you often have it, could it be a symptom of something else?
Answer: Dumb doctor or someone misunderstood.
EVERYONE has gas. If they don't then they are dead - seriously. All abdominal x-rays show gas, on everyone. Everyone cancer has symptoms that non cancer has also. Don't get caught up in the hype.
Question: Does anyone have a first hand experience with cancer? I'm currently writing a book on stomach cancer, but I have limited means of transportation so i cannot interview patients with this disease. I would like to know how you first found that you had the disease, how it was diagnosed, how it was treated, and the side-affects. A first-hand experience of stomach cancer would be most helpful, but any type of experience with cancer would help as well.
Your help with be appreciated greatly,
Shelly
Answer: It sounds like this book is going to suck.
Question: My grandmother had stomach cancer and I was worried about genetics? We don't know what type because she wasn't properly diagnosed. She was already terminal from congestive heart failure among other things and had only weeks left so she opted out of the test. My great-grandmother also had adult onset leukemia. I know some types of cancer are hereditary and wanted to get my mom a genetics/DNA test to make sure she's not at an extra risk, espHitely since she's had other problems that may put her at risk like ulcers and hiatel (sp?) hernias. I would love her to get her a full spectrum test to pick up anything else too. Especially if she's at more of a risk for lung cancer since she smokes. Around how much should this cost, and how difficult is it to set up? Note- She's almost 54 and I only want to have it done for her
Answer: Leukemia and stomach cancer have nothing to do with each other.
Having a single family member with cancer, especially an older one, does not make a hereditary cancer. There is no full spectrum genetic test. They have to know what they are looking for. For insurance to cover any test it must be medically necessary. The BRCA test is about $3,000.
EDIT: Diffuse gastric cancer is associated with hereditary factors, but it is rare and does not increase the percentage of hereditary stomach cancers over the 10% mark. There is no reason to suspect it when there is a single family member diagnosed with stomach cancer, especially if they are over 50 when diagnosed.
