Question: Testicular Cancer.... how do i deal with someone i love having to go through this? here's what's going on. I've been with my boyfriend for about 15 months now. I recently broke up with him, and he's going to be moving his stuff out of my apartment in the next day or so. He told me last week that he was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer, which has spread to his lungs and brain. Now i can't stop crying, it's hard to smile, things just aren't the same.
I took him to a doctor's appointment today, and he came back with red, puffy eyes and his cheeks all wet. But he won't tell me what the doctor said. My boyfriend said he doesn't want to burden me and that it's not fair if he tells me.
I love this man, i do. we just don't work as a couple anymore. So now i can't get him to tell me anything. I can only guess what the doctor said- that he has a certain amount of time left, or that he has to start Chemo and he'll get sick. I wish he would just let me be his support- he refuses to tell any family members or friends. i'm the only one that knows about the cancer..... help!
i broke up with him, then he told me a few days later that he got diagnosed a week before but just never told me.
but i've been to the hospital with him and everything- so if it's a hoax just to keep me, it's pretty elaborate.
Answer: My wife had colon cancer, but she has treated and is cancer free now. From my experience I know this is not something that she wanted to hide from people. People going through this are looking for understanding and compassion to help them through what everyone knows is a very, very traumatic time. I think the key to what you were saying is that he is moving out...this may be a fictional condition to create sympathy and to keep you as his girlfriend. I would insist on some documentation of the condition...make up something like you want to research his condition on webmd to see what may be going to happen to him. Good luck.
Question: How bad is testicular cancer if caught early on? My husband's best friend, who will be 30 in 3 weeks, found a mass on his testicle and just had it removed today...the doctors say that there is a 99% chance that it is cancer....
If caught early on how bad is testicular cancer and what can his friend expect to go through? Will it be difficult for him to have kids if and when he wants to and what are his chances for survival or recurrence?
This is my husband's best friend since college, the best man in our wedding and all around good guy....why do bad things happen to good people? I just don't get it...
I am so sad for him...I just want to know what he has to expect and the best way to support my husband in this as well has his friend when we visit
(I asked in Men's health but only got one very bad answer..)
Answer: Testicular cancer has a good prognosis even when it’s caught in the last stage as Lance Armstrong’s cancer was and it should have no effect on his having children, provided his other testicle is fine. The 5-year survival rate for stage A is 95-99% and stage B is 80-90% with radiation alone. I’m sure your friend will be around a long time and your children can grow up together.
Question: What type of cancer was the event fundraising for?"? Lance Armstrong recently showed up in Vancouver, for the Tour of Courage event. Thousands showed up at Thunderbird Stadium to see and support the cancer fundraiser event
I tried prostrate, testicular, breast & none worked.. Anyone?
Answer: Blood cancer works for radio trivia
Question: Hey guys. How many of you are as pissed off as I am about the inequities of male vs female cancer research? It seems like all the support and research money goes to breast and cervical cancer research while testicular and prostate cancer are all but forgotten about. Hell, there are a couple thousand breast cancer foundations but I cant find 1 testicular or prostate organization. They now even have a supposed vaccine to prevent cervical cancer. Wheres the research or development for all us? All I want is some equality in the research time, money, and in treatment. I've even called places like American Cancer Society, civic groups, many other non profit organizations nobody wants to do anything to help with this or start an organization. So I wanted to hear all your feedback
Answer: Well.. everyone loves boobs. Boobs are fun to look at, fun to play with. Most guys wont even let you play with their prostate, they're all "UGH, I'm not gay! Get your finger out of my ass!!" Maybe if you guys started acting like your prostate was important, we'd care!
Question: My husband has a tiny lump on his scrotum. Can any professionals tell us if this could be testicular cancer? The lump is roughly the size of the tip of a pen (I believe) but it's noticeable to him. It doesn't cause him any discomfort, it doesn't itch, or burn, or hurt at all. He does, however wear harnesses where he works, that go around each thigh area to support him when he climbs tall structures at the power plant he works at. He thinks that the harnesses might have rubbed that spot long enough to leave a lump. He just noticed this a couple of days ago, and is worried it might be cancer. I would appreciate it if any doctors or professionals can answer this for us. I do realize that he needs to go see a doctor, but until then, I'd like to know myself.
Answer: Testicular cancer is in the testicles. If there is a lump ON his scrotum, it must be something else. Have him slowly squeeze each testicle feeling for lumps.
Question: My boyfriend has testicular cancer..? I don't know what to do. Should I be sad or worried or what do I say? Should I just not talk about it or what? I goggled it and basically found that he most likely isn't going to die or anything but he might not be able to have kids.. That's sad! But what do I do about it? Like for support and stuff?
And I'm kind of in denial, I think. I know he wouldn't lie about it so its not him, but I just don't believe it..
What now?
Answer: I would try to not be sad as he may keep things from you trying to protect you. Offer to go to his doctor appointments with him this way you can ask any questions you have and it is always better to have two sets of hears.
Men do not like to talk as much as we do; it doesn’t make them feel better. This way you have both heard the same thing and it eliminates you having to ask him a lot of questions and you will know if he needs to be driven to any appointments without his asking.
I do not want to scare you or give you a false sense of security, but the information you got from Google is incorrect. Without knowing what stage his cancer is it is impossible to know how likely it is for him to be able to father children or survive.
Question: Prosthetic testicle after testicular cancer...? I had an operation yesterday to remove a testicle that contained a malignant tumour. At the same time, I was given a prosthetic one in its place.
There's now a bandage around the testicles and a band going around my body to support it in place. I was told that this would naturally fall off after 3 to 4 days.
I've been a little over-active today and it's already come off... I've tried to put it back on as best I can.
Is that the right thing to do?!
Thanks!
Answer: Why don't you phone the ward where you were treated and ask the nurse in charge for advice. Otherwise you could try NHSdirect or NHS24 but they will probably direct you to the hospital. If it starts to hurt or bleed then go straight to A&E.
Question: Phychologically captivating movies similar to Donnie Darko or Fight Club? Suggestions please~! <3? I've been watching these kinda of movies and absolutely love them!!! What I'm hoping for are movies with a psychological twist or a puzzle or just something captivating =]
The two movies I'm using as examples are Donnie Darko and Fight Club, I will describe them below.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Donnie Darko: Donnie Darko is about a boy that torments himself and isnt comfortable with the thought of him dying without purpose. In the beginning a large item crashes into his room from the sky, yet he survives it. He sees a psychologist about his problems, and creates an imaginary friend that is a person dresses in a big bunny suit that tells him to do bad things. Through the movie he vandalizes and explodes things because he is being told to. He has a love for the science behind space travel which becomes key later on. He find a girl he falls for and begins to date. Everyone begins to die or get hurt by him, and he doesnt want it any more. Towards the end of the movie is girlfriend is hit by a car and dies and he finally realizes that he was meant to die that night the item crashed into his room; everyone else would die if he didnt. At that, he realizes he was supposed to die that night and in order to save everyone else, he travels back in time (the car he uses is what crashes into the house and ultimately kills him, saving the rest of the world). The girlfriend that would have loved him if given the chance to meet him, moves into the neighborhood, as she did before, and asks about Donnie Darko. The little girl talking about her asks her if she knew him, and she replied no, therefore not being attached to him, and therefore, because she wasnt given the chance, never loved him like she would have.
Fight Club: This movie takes on a more serious attitude, where it begins with a narrator who also is living the story. It begins with him having insomnia, and when he complains about "being in pain" to his doctor, the doctor suggests he go to a testicular cancer support group to learn and see what real pain is. When he goes, he realizes that going to these groups makes him feel like people care about him and want to hear about him; like what he says matters, because the presume he is dying, when he really isnt. He gets addicted to them and goes to them, the fact that his voice is heard gets him to be able to sleep again. Then a new girl shows up lying about her health just has he is, living the same lie he is. I finds he can no longer sleep because of her, and eventually confronts her. They exchange numbers, and he is then sent on a business trip. He meets Tyler on the plane. Tyler will change his life forever. He is given Tyler's number, and when he gets back he notices his apartment burned and all the possessions and his condo, that he used to define him are gone. He calls the girl, then hangs up on her without ever talking to her. He then calls Tyler. He and Tyler get in an intentional fight, the feeling of it being such an outlet for the narrator that after he moves in the Tyler, they start and underground fighting group called Fight Club; members are NEVER to speak of it.The narrator loves it as first, but as Tyler turns it into something entirely different, an organized underground gang creating mayhem that doesnt harm people, but frees them from their attachment to possessions. Tyler's purpose is to teach the narrator to stop fearing pain and loss, and to stop needing his comfortable life style, with the condo with all these possession to define him and the white collar job, to exist. When Fight Club becomes Project Mayhem and Tyler seems to have taken it too far, the narrator protests against it, feeling hurt that his friend Tyler isnt sharing things with him about the club they created together and isnt involving him in the choices. Even though Tyler seems like a good guy, he is a voice of freedom against corporal hold on people. The narrator falls for the girl he met in the beginning of the movie, and when she learns too much and Tyler plans to take her out, the narrator decides too much is too much. He learns that Tyler is actually himself; the narrator is Tyler; they are the same person. Tyler is imaginary, he is exactly who the narrator wants to be. Still held down by morals, the narrator shoots himself to rid himself of Tyler.
So there you have it. Anyone got suggestions?! PLEASE!!
Also, please dont spoil the movie for me if you do suggest something.

Question: Who is tired of this Breast Cancer Awareness ?? I am, the other day I was in Walgreens and they sell countless things for Breast Cancer, They even sell Pink M&M'S for this cancer, So where is the awareness for the men who develop testicle cancer, By the way kills more people in the 15 to 50 year old age group then breast cancer, I think a little more Priority would be fitting on the group that needs the support the most,,,According to the California Cancer Registry, and the American Cancer Societies Cancer Facts and Figures 2004, there were 411 new cases of breast cancer in women 0-50 and 461 new cases of testis in men. Testicular cancer is usually more serious because it is at a more advanced stage when young men finally get it checked. Yet a recorded message while waiting to speak to someone at the American Cancer Society suggest women 20 and over have a mammogram every three years.
Answer: I am too. There should be a Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. What about that?!?!
Question: Guys: Do you think guys are becoming soft nowadays? In this Post-Feminist world, women are becoming more successful and independent. I noticed a lot of guys nowadays have lost assertiveness or a sense of identity and purpose. Too often we have to pander to women. Society has tried to feminise men by the metrosexual movement and it is now even acceptable to wear pink and support Breast Cancer Research. But too often men's needs are ignored - we don't see support for Testicular or Prostate Cancer very often, much less for depression or male suicide. What do you think?
Answer: Your question brings to mind this quote:
“A sure sign of an empire’s decline is the rise of feminism.”
-Sir John Glubb, 1897-1986
(( LOL )) ... ???
Question: Can cancer bring you closer? The guy I've been seeing for about 7 months was diagnosed with testicular cancer a few months back. He's older than me and I'm away at college. We live 2 hours apart. I wanted to be there for him everyday, but I knew realistically I couldn't be in person. We talked constantly and I sent my support as well as I could that way. I just found out, however, that his ex who lives where he does visited him alot during his treatment and that they have been spending alot of time together. He never told me this, I found out through a friend. Do you think because she was there for him during the treatment that he wants to get back with her, over possibly being with me since we aren't officially boyfriend and girlfriend yet. Please help! He's very important to me and I want him in my life, and to be in his.
Answer: She could be there to support him as a friend, or they could wind up back together.
You should really look at her as a support for him.
If it's meant for you to be together, it'll happen.
Question: Why does breast cancer get more attention than other cancers? Breast cancer seem more well publicize to general public in particular in well developed countries which I think is great along with HIV aids as the rates of women dying from Breast cancer is alarming.
However dont you think its sort of leaving out the men?
If men are to be encouraged to see the doctors ( which at times they dont), wouldn't it be nice if there was a national awareness week or day on certain cancers that affect and kill a lot of men such as prostate cancer?
We hear of the pink Ribbon Campaign (in Australia) and you see university's, our harbour bridge and Oprea house lighting their lights pink for beast cancer awareness....and there's much more.
We never see anything on this scale where there is an awareness for cancer that men suffer such as prostate or Testicular cancer which in effect sends that message out that men should suffer in silence rather than being encouraged to seek help.
So are male related cancers discriminated against in terms of the lack of awareness and support by the general public?
Some studies find that Cancer affects more men than women. So is the support disproportional?
Answer: The public awareness for breast cancer is being driven by private organizations and businesses. It all started with the Estee Lauder company president who just happened to have breast cancer. With her powerful backing, lobbying, and donations she encouraged thousands of other businesses to make breast cancer research a priority. And that's what has happened. It has nothing to do with any other type of cancer. Unfortunately the backlash has harmed available funding for other types of cancer . .
Question: How can I get medical insurance for my adult daughter who is addicted to Suboxzone or treatment for it? She began taking her husband's pain medication while he was dying from testicular cancer and became addicted to opiates. That was the only way she could cope with the barrage of bill collectors, his pain and their 3 children. After he died, she lost their home, insurance, their cars, everything and now lives with me. Suboxzone is a doctor prescribed treatment for opiate addiction but she is addicted to the treatment! She is in bed every day until 5-6 PM, doesn't have bowel movements or periods, weighs 90 lbs.and eats almost nothing. If I could get a judge to make her a dependent or my ward, I could get her insurance through my work. I cannot afford to send her to Hazelden or another drug rehab. Please don't tell me to turn to God. I need legal advice or a rehab grant. I am also supporting my other daughter and her 3 children. Anyone reading this who has a clue on how to save my daughter please respond. Time is running out for her.
Answer: She needs to go a methadone clinic where they will monitor her better and taper her off. I have heard many stories similar to this concerning suboxone. I think it should be banned methadone is much more effective. Just be aware that methadone is also a ssri so adding antidepressants could be deadly that and anything else that would raise her serotonin (St John Wart, dxm/coughsyrup) I wouldnt recommend any type of sleep medication at all. Also you can make lemon poppy seed tea to curb the withdrawls (maybe thats why she sleeps so much, shes taking to much at once and then withdrawing). Just mix poppy seeds with lemon juice...filter with a coffee filter and drink. This has been know to work even though many would disagree. In my area they have programs that will pay/reduce for rehab or treatment. Its called CARE I dont know maybe thats available in your area check it out.
Question: Support for a friend? My friend's father is currrently suffering from testicular cancer that has spread to his lungs and brain. Myself and another one of her close friends want to do something for her and her family. We want to have a support party for her, but we aren't sure if that is appropriate for the situation. Any ideas on how we can brighten up her day?
Answer: Identify a need of hers and try to address it.
Take her out for a meal and just have a girls chatting session to take her mind off stuff.
Question: Is it Cancer? Testicular Cancer?
Im not sure if this is normal or not? Im going to see a doctor on weds, but i just wondered if any of you could advise?
In Jan/Feb time I noticed an slight uncomfortable feeling in my right testicle also noticing it was slightly larger than the other one. Thats as much as I can remember really and I just got on with life. Now im getting worried about it again. It's not hugely swollen but it still feels bigger, and slightly heavy especially when i get an erection. There is little or no pain usually. Only sometimes when i feel around at the bottom. But the thing is...there is no lump!?!? Cant feel a lump at all and have never been able to. As I say im seeing the doctor next week, but any support and advice would be really nice.
Thanks
Answer: I honestly couldn't tell you, but I was in a similar situation a while back and one day my testicle was throbbing with pain to where I couldn't barely walk. I went to the doctor and he checked me out and it turned out to be testicular bruising caused by god knows what.
I was given a 5 day sample of a localized pain reliever and it did the trick. I was good as new within 3 days.
I hope this helps ease some of your worrying until you get into the doctors office.
