Question: some advice on thyroid cancer..any such councelling center in india?
Answer: Check this website http://www.thyrocare.com/.
They have their branches in all the main cities of India.
Hope this should be of some help
Question: Should I call the cancer center? My primary doctor supposedly sent my records to the clinic on April 7th and I haven't heard anything yet. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2007; had surgery and treatment. I had my yearly tests which were okay, but now my blood test are coming up positive again.
Answer: Yes, the clinic should call your primary and have them resent or track down where they are.
Question: If one of your family members had cancer would you recommend Cancer Treatment Centers of America? What did you like about the center? What was your family members experience on the center? for example Metistatic Thyroid Cancer
I'm just asking.
I did get the info and gave it to my aunt but I doubt that she will give them a call since its stage 4 but hopefully she will give them a call.
Thank you for your info...it helps alot!
She had the cancer when she was 24 and they took out HALF of the thyroid and then 4 yrs ago she had more taken out and then a couple months ago they found it all through her neck (9 out of the 35 lymph nodes were positive) and a couple weeks ago she had surgery on her neck.
Yeah I think she's going to do the Holistic treatments as well.
they got some of it but it has since spread before the third surgery.
forgot to add that she's 50 now.
Answer: Stage 4, it's rather advanced, then.
My mom-in-law had cancer, fell asleep in death w/in 6 mos.
My mom has cancer, went w/ holistic care and she's still alive & Kickin'!! 7 years later.
It depends on the patient.
What she wants to go w/.
Question: What's next after thyroid removal, radioactive iodine.......and still glowing? Friend had total thyroid removed because small papillary cancer was found. Along with that two lymph nodes were removed. One out of the two lymph nodes were positive. Had radioacitive iodine treatment. Had body scan.........needed additional views of neck. One positive thing......nothing but the neck was glowing. On the other hand.....the throat is lighting up on the scan. Doctor thinks more lymph nodes are involved. Scheduled for ultrasound. What's the next step and what sucess stories come out of this. It's wearing me down............. Don't know if we should change doctors???????? Or go to a major cancer center???
Answer: The next step would be more surgery. I have had three surgeries for thyroid cancer. Because my family dr made me wait a whole year for surgery I am in this mess. RAI usually cleans up some of the cancer but still the better thing is surgery, see source below for a support group with many levels of thryoid cancer members
Question: Thyroid problems...? my mom has been going thru about three weeks of blood work, thyroid ultrasounds, and other test. She was recently told to go to a glad specialist, and they refused to see her, and said she has "class b" we have no idea what this means and she is going to a hershey -penn state medical center here in a few weeks and back to the local doctor,
she was told she has an over active thyroid, and nodules
her sister has thyroid cancer and just got over all her treatments.
does anyone know anything this could be or help me out in anyway with this class b stuff?!
Answer: She needs to see an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist (ENT Dr.) Has she had a nuclear scan of her thyroid done? I have an over-active thyroid gland as well. Hyperthyroidism or in my case Hashimoto's Syndrome. The only other thing I can think of is Grave's Disease, but this is probably not the case with your mum. Try not to worry too much until you get some concrete answers.
As for the class-b stuff, I am afraid I am unable to help you on that either. Your family Dr should be able to refer you to someone else. If she has a seriously over-active thyroid gland then she should not have been refused treatment, that is negligence on their part. Report them. If you are still unhappy, you can always go to another Dr. and get a second opinion. Keep going back until you get the treatment and help that you need. Everyone has a right to medical treatment when they need it.
Good luck and wish your mum well. Let her know that she is not alone and I know what she is going through as I have a multi-nodular goitre as well and it can be very painful to swallow sometimes. I found that hot cups of black tea helped with the pain. If it has milk in it, it tends to create more mucous and then you cough creating more pain.
Try this just until she gets the ENT and gets the medication to help.
Question: Please help me im only 14 and think i have cancer ? i've had a pea sized lump under my tongue for about a month
sometimes it feels swollen or throbs or burns a little
i went to get it checked out by doctor
she had trouble feeling it and scheduled an ultra sound
i just got my results back and they didnt find anything and my thyroid was fine
but it botherss so much. i'm really scared
my mom scheduled another apointment wednesday..
i found it a month ago while putting on a scarf
i feel it outside my neck where it curves almost centered
Answer: It's probably a swollen lymph node or salivary gland, and nothing to worry about. There are some other lumpy things that can happen in the neck, and most of them are also benign.
Ask you Mom to take you to an ENT specialist. They know a lot more about necks, and can reassure you, or fix whatever is there.
Quit worrying, and good luck!
Question: Cost of Doctor's Visit For 50 Year Old Male? For my Dad's 50th birthday, I would like to give him a doctor's visit. He has not had a physical in a while and does not have health insurance. He is overweight, smokes rarely, loves beer, has a family history of diabetes and heart disease.
I would like for his doctor's visit to include the following:
Physical exam for cancer (skin, thyroid, lymph nodes, prostate and rectum)
Height/weight measurements
Blood Pressure check
Stool sample check for blood
Cholesterol check
and Blood sugar check
How much money should I set aside for his doctor's visit? And any advice on how to find the right medical center? He doesn't have a doctor. Location is Dallas-Fort Worth. Any suggestions please let me know. Thanks everyone!
Answer: depends on what kind of tests you want done in him a physicall ussually consist of cholesterol for that age redblood cells count diabetis test, EKG(electrogardigram) to monitor his heart, among other tests
i would say a basic physical would cost 300-400 including doctors visit and all
this is based on prices from the clinic i used to work on.
now for the tests you want most of them are blood tests so i will give you a price details on those
cancer= 150-200
cholesterol= 100-130
blood sugar check is really cheap cus they poke you in the fuinger and do it there and then 15-20
dont waiste money on stool sample check>< any abnormalities shown on a blood test would tell u if one is needed also as part of physicals clinics do using samples to determine how his kidneys are working and if further tests are necessary, heich and weith comes as part of physical to determine obesity, blood presure is part of the doctors exam. again unless your dad is having trouble with cramps and pain when pooping dont bother with stool sample if there was blood in stool you can notice it rightaway.
i know for sure in your area there is small clinics that do promotions on physics all basics for 200-250
almost forgot>< a chest xray is also part of a basic physical
Question: what can be the reason for persistent and unexplained pain and weakness? for the last few months i've been subjected to a prolonged flu. After finally getting over it (3-4 bouts of contracting it), i've been having severe headaches, chest pain, eye pain although an eye exam said nothing major was wrong, and weakness and numbness in my arms, legs, toes and fingers. the pain at first concentrated on the left side of the bogy then the headaches began centering my head and moved to the base of my neck just at the base of the back of my head. i went to docs who said it was due to stress and panic attacks. they also said my thyroid may be overacting. i was given propranolol and sleeping pills.. they started working only about a wk after starting using them. however when i stop i get the pain especially when travelling and when its extremely cold. sometimes i feel like i can't breathe and im having a heart attack. my throat will swell up sometimes and be painful to swallow . are these signs of cancer, a thyroid problem, stress and exhaustion or something else
Answer: This is no place to find a medical diagnosis. You need to find a source for medical consultation that will give you some confidence in the findings.
The only way to detect cancer is with a surgical biopsy, and sometimes even those are not 100% accurate.
It sounds like you are experiencing complications in reacting to your reactions to basic stress factors. In other words, you are stressing yourself more because you are stressed, rather than trying deliberately to relax because you are stressed.
This is easy to say, not so easy to do. Begin by eliminating the possibilities of illness. Have your thyroid levels checked to see that they are within normal limits. When taking meds, have the patience to give them the necessary time to work.
Sleeplesness is a behavior, which like all behaviors, easily become habits. Also, when you experience a sleep deficit, there is a recovery rebound when you begin resting again that leaves you feeling more tired.
Try to simplify and isolate one by one the strresses affecting you, and take control of your life again. The saying "divide and conquer" has its roots in wisdom.
Question: Peripheral Neuropathy and Nerve Entrapment Help Needed? I have tarsal tunnel syndrome and peripheral neuropathy in booth feet and legs, including some nerve entrapments. The foot doctor, family doctor, spine center doctor, and Neurologist have ruled out diabetes (blood test and 3 hr glucose test), issues with my thyroid, MS, and now they are thinking that it is genetic or cancer in the groin. I am wondering if it is not varicose veins. When the foot doctor performed the tarsal tunnel surgery on my left foot in December 2008, he stated that there were a lot of varicose veins cutting off the nerves. I don’t have varicose veins that can be seen through the skin, but I read that the veins can hide for your entire life. Any ideas????
Answer: follow up with your podiatrist & neurologist. your team of specialists is great -seeking advice from Yahoo is not.
