Thyroid Cancer Metastasis

Question: thyroid cancer metastasis? Hi, i am a 26 year old female with thyroid cancer, i've recently had RAI ablation with 100mci, the day after i had the treatment i had a swollen tender neck and also pain in my chest (the chest pain was similar to that of a chest infection but was gone in 2 days) has any one had this after RAI and could it mean chest metastasis? also is neck swelling normal? i don't get my results from whole body scan back for another couple of weeks when i see my oncologist. Thankyou

Answer: Yes a similar situation happened to me after the RAI treatment No I dont think it went to your chest did they do a chest xray before your surgery or any type of test? Also if its papillary thyroid cancer it is the slowest growing cancer and the most treatable. I know how you feel when I was diagnosed and even now 2 years later I worry that it has spread to another part of my body I go next week for my annual blood work and also another pet scan so I know how you feel but dont worry your chances of surviving this are extremely good. I also went to a support group in my local hospital where I met people of all ages that survived thyroid cancer one woman was 55 years old and she got it when she was in her 20;s and today she lives a healthy normal life with 3 grown children most people that Ive come across with thyroid cancer have gotten better with no other signs of cancer. I hope this is true for you and me. Wishing you all the best please email me if you want to talk Osvaldoocasio@yahoo.com Good Luck and best wishes for a Happy, Healthy Cancer Free Life!
